I doubt we will be ordering from Byredo again. It's really a shame because some of your products are incredibly good. Casablanca Lily, (Cuir) Sellier and Rouge Chaotique have been among my favorites for years.
Accountability is when you make a situation right. Instead of making excuses and continuing to make unethical decisions which cause and compound the problem. A one off problem is understandable. However, when you completely disregard the aggravation, inconvenience and expense caused by an allergic reaction to your product, a very clear picture of Byredo is visible.
The problem becomes far worse when Nemar, a "concierge" of your company not only expects, but coerces an autistic individual to jump through unneccesary hurdles to seek understanding and a refund. This "concierge" further states that the lab replied that inferior quality samples (which were purchased from Byredo in an expensive discovery kit) is within the range that Byredo considers acceptable. Not to mention that it's the consumer's fault if they cause an allergic reaction.
Byredo has become a company more concerned with sales than customer service.
The fact that you do nothing to correct your own mistakes or compensate for it (a refund?) is a very bad business model and authenticates the horrible reviews that Byredo will garner. This is a Swedish company that needs to fire everyone in their US office and start over.
I will be warning people everywhere that I see Byredo mentioned.
**The "fair" outcome that this unethical company provided was a refund which should have been at no-harrassment to the disabled customer. Instead they made it an absolutely horrible experience.**

I purchased a jewelry ring and because the website had no information on sizing that I could locate, I had to guess at the sizing (sizing was XS,S,M&L with no cross-reference to intl sizes). I received the ring very promptly - checkout and shipping were very efficient. The size was too large and I had ot contact Byredo to initiate a return. Although I completed the contact form with all of the information requested (why I'm returning, what I'm returning, etc.) I had to repeat all of this to the representative when I was contacted. I don't think it was the representative's fault, but the repetition delayed the process (took 2 days) and was kind of annoying. The representative, Peter, once he had the information he needed he supplied me with a return label and we were in business! He was helpful.

I've previously written a very good review for Byredo but unfortunately brand loyalty means nothing after my recent experience. I asked to return a candle I purchased online and was refused because I had taken the plastic cover off. One of their reasons for returns is 'doesn't like the item'. I hadn't lit the candle or tampered with the box, but yet they refused, stating that I should have smelled it in a store first (laughable response given Scotland has no Byredo store). After checking the UK Consumer Law guidelines, I realised that it's illegal for a company to refuse a return within 14 days if it was purchased online and the customer has only removed the packaging to suitably inspect the item.
They asked me to send photos of the candle and I've heard nothing since (3 days ago) and my emails have went ignored. If I don't have a response by the end of the week I intend to contact Trading Standards and I will take this as far as need be.
Very dissapointed with Byredo as I've spent a lot of money with them recently and this is how they repay loyal customers. Unfortunately so many companies think they are above the law.
The woman who refused the refund was Evangelia.

Dealing with this company has been a nightmare from beginning to end. You would expect better customer service from a so-called nichè company. They have a few nice fragrances. I don't think they are ready to be a true nichè company. They have much to learn from true nichè companies like Marc Antoine Barrois or Roja Dove.
I made it clear that I had autism before placing an order for a discovery set when the "concierge" was rude to me when I asked about free samples with the purchase. I hadn't seen the disclaimer.
I ordered the discovery kit anyway because I had tried a fragrance of theirs and really liked it. I wanted to try a few others. When the discovery kit finally arrived, it was packaged very nicely like a gift. This certainly was a nice touch.
However, the fragrances had literally no life. You could almost smell them initially, and then they were gone like the eponymous ghost of one of their fragrances.
In addition to that, one of the samples (keep in mind these are very tiny), caused me to have sinus irritation and caused my skin to break out in several places where I sprayed it.
You would not believe the hoops they made me jump through and the circles they made me run around in just to get some kind of resolution. I responded to many emails that basically make me repeat myself over and over and over. They want the same pictures repeatedly. Nemar (a customer service person), actually replied that their lab techs determined that the fragrance having little to no scent was within the guidelines for what they consider acceptable quality and I would not be refunded.
I just informed them of the allergic reaction that their fragrance caused and he asked for pictures of the little sample bottles. I have not heard back. I'm sure they'll respond that their lab techs have determined that having a severe allergic reaction to their fragrances is within guidelines for what they consider acceptable quality.
This feels like harrassment to avoid giving a refund for defective product. They are hoping I will just go away.
They got the wrong autistic guy.
***Update 03/13/26***
Luanne did reach out to me. I was provided a refund for their defective product that caused my severe allergic reaction, finally after days of harrassment by Nemar. I was baited to purchase more products (small hand cream at no charge with purchase of another product). No consideration for anything I endured. She sent an email explaining how it was all routine and acceptable business practice. When do these companies ever accept accountability? I sent the following as my reply.
"I do not consider that an acceptable resolution. What you offer does cover the cost of the discovery kit and baits me to spend more money. Nothing else. The harrassment that I was subjected to is not acceptable for a person with a significant disabilty. It caused serious duress. I was transparent about being on the autistic spectrum in my initial communication when the harrassment began. That doesn't even take into account the physical duress endured by the allergic reaction to your fragrance, "Blanche".
I offered Byredo an easy and minimal resolution because I was not up for a continued challenge but my advocate is going to assist me. I do not accept your resolution.
Shame on you for even considering this acceptable business practice.
