WORST APP ON AMAZON FIRE TV STICK

The BritBox app on the Amazon Fire TV Stick (UK) is without doubt the worst app on the the device, absolutely rubbish, can't navigate by type (such as Drama, factual, Comedy) so unless you want to watch what they want you to watch (with their rubbish recommendations and suggestions, and actors favourites) then forget it

Not to mention you get some kind of authetication error with every program, plus the stupid buffering issues...

I don't know what they're spending our subscription money on, but it certainly isn't development or bandwidth

I cancelled by subscription, easier to watch content for free on YouTube, DailyMotion than waste time and money on BritBox

I'll look again in a year or two

Closed captions are clicked on then disappear

Closed captions are clicked on then don’t show up. Or they drop from one show in a series to next . Don’t hold on memory that you always want sub titles. And occasionally drops completely reverting back to Britbox app. Incredibly frustrating and ranks very poorly compared to Acorn, MHZ and Netflix.

Free trail of Britbox - would not pay.

Was offered 6 months free from EE for Britbox.
Content is poor, nothing new for it, in fact half the stuff on there is stuff repeated a million times, or simply put, just ancient.
The layout was bad also - if currently watching a series for example, no option to simply click forward to the next episode/be able to see series/episode selection whilst still on the watching screen. Subtitles also not on all programs.
Whats also a shame is the selection/searching process. Does not group selections well, searching for a select genre is hard and awkward, no real movies on there either, and a lot of better choices on there, especially for the bbc, is also on Netflix - which offers a lot more content, for almost the same amount. Also annoying is that 'christmas specials' no not get listed in date order of the series it is from, and instead stands out as it's own thing - clearly uploaded on it's own, and chucked in - just little things show the lack of care in the presentation.

Channel 4 and 5 seem to come off the best here, which is worrying as they are limited with what they have provided - most of which is also on the likes of Netflix, or free on their free streaming website.

Having now used Britbox, the only thing I am certain of is the foul stench of jealousy and fear from the BBC and ITV, trying to take on the likes of Netflix, and falling short.

The sad truth is, Britbox won't help with it, it seems to have shown the younger generations just how dire things are currently for ITV and BBC, then wanting to charge them AGAIN on top of tv license, just to watch stuff they have seen a million times, or and clearly other 'filler' shows to bulk out the menu.
Honestly, you'll have a much better chance by DROPPING the TV license/price, and stop trying to push britbox when clearly, it's nowhere near up to scratch.

One of the only selling points is the upload of classic doctor who - but please note, New Who is not on Britbox at all.
It is however on Netflix :p

May have 6 months free, but already debating about canceling early.
I would not recommend it.

Summary:
Interesting idea, and love the idea of the big 4 channel networks coming together and providing their own content.
It's just a shame this HASN'T happened - instead ITV and BBC take the lead poorly, offer a few of their shows, but nothing special or worthy of drawing in.
This would of been forgivable providing there was fresh content, content made by ITV and BBC together - sharing resources.
As such, that didn't happen, and most on there are the same quality of shows which personally made me decide I no longer wish to pay for a TV license, as cost of it compared to quality of programming and options available, just wasn't worth it, and instead happier to stick with Netflix, which clearly takes care in the small details of the service of which they provide.
I wish well for Britbox, but currently its a national embarrassment, and I think it'll fizzle out very, very quickly, unless quick action is taken.

Britbox - Sh'tbox...

Speechless... nearly lost the will to live trying to navigate my way round the app. It took an age to link my laptop with the TV & when I'd eventually figured it out it was sooo painfully slow & terribly complicated... I'd strongly suggest you think twice before pausing/stopping a program as it's very unlikely that you'll be able to re-start the program from the paused point, I made this mistake & it's done nothing since... Screen frozen & simply buffering. But... that being said... I liked the choice of programs & films on offer & I would consider subscribing to this service but not before they've sorted the app etc.

Britbox - The worst streaming service anywhere

Britbox. The worst streaming service anywhere.
Without a shadow of a doubt the worst streaming service anywhere! It continually freezes, stalls and stutters and the content is pathetic. Let's give you an example. They've just added a new category called 'Old School Classics', and so I decided to binge watch the original Captain Scarlet series (Second childhood time). Episode one was great... brought back so many memories. So, onto episode 2. Guess what? There is no episode 2. The morons have only put the first episode of most of these old classics on, including Stingray, Supercar, Fireball XL5, Joe 90 and more. How dumb are these people? Seriously? Another annoying thing is that it often doesn't store your 'last watched' point, which means you have to restart an episode or movie from the beginning. Thank God for Netflix - at least they know what they're doing!

Don't bother unless you have a Samsung smart TV.

What an absolute shambles of an idea. Signed up to binge on Vera which seems to have vanished from ITV Hub. Watch series 1 to whatever on Britbox it said. So I did. Cannot get a single bloody episode on my Freeview play box. Come to that nothing on Britbox on Freeview player. Whoever came up with this shambles of a service should resign immediately. Subscription cancelled after less than 4 hours. Won't be coming back.......

I'm happy with it.

Since Boxing Day, I stopped watching tv 'as it is broadcast live', because I was so bored with the content; BBC in particular. So, no longer needing a licence, I decided to put my money to better use and give Britbox a try, to catch up with programs I didn't get round to watching in the past. Personally, I think there is a huge amount to choose from; and I'm really enjoying the experience. Although, there are far too many really old films and series on it, whereas I would prefer more recent ones. I tried Netflix and Amazon in the past, but wasn't impressed with them either. Perhaps it works for me because I live alone, don't watch tv as well, and watch it on my lap-top, not a smart tv. I gave it three stars - 'average', because four stars jumps to 'great', and I wouldn't go that far.

Pointless if they keep removing a series

I was enjoying The Hollow Crown, then it disappeared. Their customer service person told me I was mistaken and they never showed it, which was rubbish. Eventually another bright spark admitted it had been there but they removed it. I asked how hard would it be to add "watch by date". They thought that was brilliant. It isn't, it's common sense.

Load of S**t

Downloaded this app to watch all episodes of Vera. We experienced loads of problems like having an error pop up on the screen with no details to what the error was. Then the episodes freeze like another review said more than 10 times an episode. Then the whole app froze meaning we had to remove it and reinstall it. Safe to say we won't be continuing the subscription. I also agree that this is a complete con having to pay for TV shows that we already pay for..

A very bad idea!

Turns out they've taken a bad idea and rolled it out with total incompetence. Customer service is dire. Content is lacking. Technically bad - hard to watch on a TV. Technically bad - poor quality of service with fast fiber.

Won't Pay Twice!

Like the vast majority of ordinary British people I will not ever pay to watch BBC content TWICE. I am already legally required to pay ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS a year - whether I want to watch BBC or not and now they have the nerve to ask for more.

Britbox is a national disgrace

Britbox is a national disgrace, especially for those who need subtitles. Whole series are being removed from BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub (both of which services having subtitles) to try and attract people to Britbox. But subtitles are NOT available for the VAST number of programmes transferred.

I complained to both Britbox and OFCOM and both said they were meeting OFCOM standards, which are clearly worth ZERO.

Britbox more like Shtbox

Downloaded the month’s free subscription. Cancelled it within 10 minutes. What an awful product it is. I was expecting a rich, full back catalogue of BBC content and only discovered a tiny fraction. For example, Allo Allô - the Xmas special is there but not the full back catalogue. Why? I was hoping to find Boomers - a great two season BBC gem. Nothing. Oh and there’s the UI - it’s shockingly bad. Navigation is awful, buttons are unresponsive. And to top it all off, I went into the help section and there is a linked email address - when you click on it, it attempts and fails to take you to a web page rather than your email client. Seriously - whoever is responsible for this mess needs firing. I know I could do a damn sight better job than the fools that put this nonsense of a service together.

Rubbish do not waste money on this

Rubbish do not waste money on this - I tried the 30 day free offer through my Apple TV - then I carried on a further month and was charged through my Apple account - then Apple took a further months money......but the service cut off saying I needed to renew. Called “customer service” and was told very abruptly that the problem was with Apple and told to contact them and if I still wanted to watch I would have to pay again through The britbox website. I followed up with emails and told nothing they could do as I had paid Apple and not britbox directly. This is a joke.....they could have sorted out this minor issue internally but they are not interested and obviously happy to lose paying customer - not a way to run a start up company - but this is the BBC after all and clearly they don’t live in the real commercial world as they are too used to licence fee money! Time for changes?
I’ve put in down to a bad experience but be warned!
