Such an amazing opportunity to explore and climb in areas of Portugal that are hard to get to. Learned so much about the local culture, history and landscape. Incredible views, beautiful forest and stunning beaches. One of the best days of my trip to Portugal!

Although we happened to go out on a day where there we had extremely choppy waves, only occurring half a dozen days in a year, we (parents, 16, 13, and 12 year olds) had an amazing time. It was a trip to remember. We didn’t have the clear waters with the ability to snorkel, but it was definitely an adventure. Joao’s positive energy made it a remarkable day despite weather that was not entirely ideal.

My 2 daughters and I spent a long weekend in Lisbon and decided to take a day out and explore the nearby national park area . From the moment we were collected by Joao, we were in great hands. His energy was infectious ! He brought us to his beautiful home where he has a purpose built house for his clients - beautiful huge kitchen, dressing rooms and shower rooms. Towels and lovely home made blanket robes (thanks to his mums handiwork !) are provided . We snacked on coffee and biscuits , packed the minibus and set off. The activities speak for themselves - all wonderful in their own right. Joao’s father is a marine biologist and he has obviously passed on all his knowledge about sea life and the geology of the coast on to his son- which he in turn passed on to us….. whilst he told us many (sometimes good!!) jokes and played his fabulous playlist(yes- all activities are accompanied by his little waterproof music speaker!). He also took loads of photos and videos of all our activities and he sent them to us afterwards … wonderful to have all the laughter and screams captured for us.
After the day of activities we were treated to a picnic on the beach- not just any picnic- this was home made gorgeous food - and local wines.
Safety was paramount throughout - we had such great care taken of us .

If I could give João and this experience 100 stars, I would. The most fun, adventurous, unique, fulfilling, authentic, and exciting tour I’ve ever experienced. Prior to the trip, we were concerned that the weather forecast may interfere with our trip, but João reassured us weather wouldn’t be an issue and that we would have an epic day regardless of what Mother Nature provided. He was absolutely correct- he both knows the weather tendencies of Portugal and its coasts and I swear, also has some magic ability to manifest the sun because our day with him was the longest stretch of good weather we had experienced during our rainy spring visit to the country. And even when we did encounter a bit of rain/choppy waters in the late afternoon, João was easily able to modify the adventures as needed to still ensure we saw all we could have hoped to see and tried things we had never done before. There were also so many personalized touches that made the experience even more special including getting to meet João’s mom (who sewed the cozy wear to keep us warm after the wet suit portion of the tour), enjoying loves from his puppy, meeting 2 of his daughters and getting a glimpse into the family’s fun and rightful passion for punk rock Disney remixes, trying his family’s homemade wine/grape juice/olive oil/soup, and having a clean and thoughtfully designed place on his property to change pre/shower post experience. Cannot recommend this experience enough. And I hope my title of this review is wrong because my boyfriend and our friends certainly hope and plan to come back and adventure with João again someday.

This is the absolute best tour I have taken in all of Europe so far. It was absolutely perfect on every aspect I could’ve wanted. The tour guide Joao was super funny and knowledgeable, clearly very passionate about the adventures we were on. I was worried about the weather at first since it was early March and the Lisbon weather wasn’t the best, but the area Joao took us to was a microclimate of paradise every single day. We were completely comfortable and warm in the weather and wetsuits provided to us for the day. We explored some amazing caves and beaches for a few hours with breathtaking views. This was an area and experience I would never be able to accomplish with any other tour or by myself. Joao provided us with delicious snacks and a large lunch on the beach that was perfect. I seriously can’t recommend this tour more, it is the one thing I will recommend to all of my friends and family that come to Lisbon or Portugal. Great adventure, amazing views, fun tour guide, and perfect chance to learn some Portuguese culture and history!

My family of 6 with 4 older teens absolutely loved this excursion. We went over the Christmas holiday. My kids all agreed it was one of the best days of their lives. Joao was amazing. He was so fun and knowledgeable. If you are considering this excursion just do it. You won't regret it.

Did this tour together with my colleagues as part of an off-site and it was great. Joao brings amazing energy and everything was very well planned and catered for. We got to experience fantastic nature, local food, cultural insight and super supportive climbing experience that felt very safe and professional. Joao was super easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Hos college was also great. Can strongly recommend Beyond Adventures!

He was energetic, entertaining, had a plethora of dad jokes, and an amazing singing voice. 😋
I appreciated the vast amount of portuguese history he presented.
He had tons of snacks, food, and drinks which helped us fuel up for the day.
The day was jam packed with activities; swimming, cliff jumping, snorkeling, kayaking, and exploring the caves (my personal favorite).
João also took lots of videos and photos which allowed the experience to be memorable. Highly recommend if visiting lisbon!!!

This experience was amazing! João is high-energy, full of amazing dad jokes, and extremely knowledgeable about the Portuguese and local culture. In fact, it’s where he grew up! Being able to kayak the Atlantic Ocean, climb coastal rocks, and jump from great heights off them was AMAZING! Book this experience now.

That was absolutely amazing expiernce ! He was awesome, my whole family had a blast and I liked that there was a lot of options if you were a little scared. If I was ever in Portugal again I would honestly go again! Arguably my favorite day of the entire trip!!

I went on the kayaking adventure with João and it was incredible. Everything about the tour is extremely well thought out. You are provided with all the equipment and food and drink to keep you comfortable and happy all day. The natural area is incredibly beautiful and you have plenty of time to get out of the kayaks and explore the caves and do some cliff jumping if you want and ending with some snorkeling and lunch on the beach. Best of all, João is full of energy and very knowledgeable about the ecology and history of the area. He is an absolutely wonderful guide that keeps the fun going all day and the tour ended back at the tour base with some traditionally cooked chorizo and homemade drinks. This tour is a wonderful way to see a beautiful outdoors area and get a truly authentic Portuguese experience. There wasn’t a single thing that was missing about this experience, I would do it again if I ever return and highly recommend it for anyone wanting to have a lovely day outside of Lisbon.

João has been a great guide, experience includes a ton of nice activities like caves , kayak , landscape views and different meals that João was offering.

I had a perfect day on the Adventure Trail Climbing Experience. João is the best guide and showed me some of the most beautiful rock formations and views I've ever seen while ensuring everyone was comfortable and having fun. I have some climbing experience, but this tour is also great for people without it. João told me he had a 5-year-old on the tour a few weeks before! The food and drinks were fresh and delicious; such great treats to have along the way! The tour is an insanely good price, and I was shocked that I was able to be squeezed in on such short notice.

Our tour with Joao was such an adventure. He is incredibly charismatic and has a zest for life, which is contagious. He pushed us to be able to have new life experiences and we absolutely will not forget this day! He came very prepared with all gear and the food was delicious. Would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a new memorable experience, push some limits and have a great time.

My friend Marilyn and I, weren’t sure we would be up to this tour as the weather was cloudy, rainy and windy in Lisbon on the day we booked. But João assured us that it would be fine and the weather would be fine and he was right. The view was spectacular and the tour so well managed from start to end. João joy for life is contagious, he made everyone laugh and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the tour. It’s a must if you are in Lisbon, book it!

João is super friendly and excited, telling us a lot of information about Lisbon and his passion. The day trip was amazing, especially the cliff diving and exploring the caves. He had arranged everything perfectly, like all the equipment, tasty snacks, drinks and lunch, music during the trip; he had thought about everything. The sights and views were amazing, even when it wasn’t that sunny. And let’s not forget about all his funny dad jokes (and yo momma!). Would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s visiting Lisbon!

Best day out ever! We learnt a lot about Portuguese culture and history. The kayaking, snorkelling and cliff jumping we amazing plus the food was delicious. We made and supported new friends through personal challenges.

This was one of our favourite activities in Portugal! He has all the little details to make for a perfect day of kayaking, cliff jumping & snorkeling. Full of character & fun. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I did the kayak experience with João, and was one of the best days we’ve ever had! Personally I am a little scared of the ocean, but João’s excitement, love and enthusiasm for what he does completely put any nerves I had at rest! To put it simply he is amazing at his job.
For what you pay for, you get so much in return! From the equipment to the experiences to the endless amount of food and wine! The day flew past so fast, and we didn’t want to go home!
I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Lisbon, as we’ve definitely made memories that will last forever. What we didn’t know is that João also had a GoPro, and so we’ve even caught those memories through pictures and videos that we can look back at.
If you’re a bit unsure or scared like I am, I’d say just give it a go! It was the best day of my holiday, and it’s so rewarding conquering your fears.
