Disappointing: I kept chasing them for communication and finally got no response at all. The more I asked questions about the cover to make sure I had the right policy, the less responsive they became; they seemed to want someone who buys quickly without knowing what they need. In the end, I got what I needed elsewhere.

The reassuring help and support I got from May in reorganising my insurance quote, which I was doing at the very last minute. Unfortunately the their system blocked me out on line because I was over 85, which is why I have only given 4 stars, But May is 5+ stars.

We have partnered with Balens for many years now and they provide excellent insurance services to our members. I've always felt that they understand our business and made a particular effort to understand our members priorities. They have also offered thoughtful training opportunities where appropriate. I feel very comfortable approaching Balens with questions on behalf of our members and we've always received great advice. Extremely happy with our ongoing partnership.

Very disappointed with my experience with Balens. I contacted them about cover for a separate supervised charity role and was essentially told no from the outset. I then felt I was being asked to jump through various hoops to try to get cover, despite the role being supervised and separate from my counselling placement.

A clause in the policy terms was ultimately used to explain why they couldn't cover me, which has made me wary about what I had assumed my insurance actually covered.

I appreciate insurers have terms and conditions, but I expected more help and flexibility in assessing my circumstances.

Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend Balens to counsellors or student counsellors.

This morning I had Debbie call me regarding my insurance renewal. This was the first time in a few years dealing with Balens that renewing my insurance was so easy. A direct call on a one to one, insurance sorted. Thanks Debbie you were amazing.

Excellent communication from start to finish - from the initial reminder (that I always manage to bury in my inbox ....) to dealing with my last minute "oh crikey - it's due TODAY". The team at Balens are super helpful, knowledgeable and meticulous in getting the right cover for us. Highly recommended

I have been dealing with Balens for the last 10 years whilst being in business. I have received nothing but a professional personable service from them. Their prices have been competitive, but their edge is the fact they are approachable and give excellent customer services from inception and during policy dates.
My account contact has been Sarah Dyer who is the most helpful, professional and patient person I have dealt with. She is diligent, getting information out to me on time, and if needed, chasing me when my busy work life takes over. It is nice to be able to speak to someone instead of having to do everything online.
I could not recommend Balens and Sarah highly enough.

Fabulous customer service! I called on a Friday to set up my insurance as I was newly qualified, and I had a lot of new practitioner questions! Scott helped me first of all, putting my mind at rest and helping me understand what I should do. Once I filled in the forms, I called back and spoke to Natasha Jones who was so friendly and helpful. I explained that I already had customers booked in for Monday and that I could push them back for a few days but if there was any possible way at all she could help me to activate my insurance before the weekend I'd be so grateful. Natasha said she would do her best, and then called me back soon afterwards! She said she had made sure it was worked on straightaway, and she called me as soon as she knew just to put my mind at rest. This meant I didn't have to cancel any customers! I am so grateful for Natasha helping me personally, and for her being so kind and friendly on the phone. I'm really glad I chose Balens!

Thank you to Natasha especially today! I checked my Balens status and realised to my horror I had not renewed my insurance! I was sent the appropriate documentation whilst on the telephone to Bale's. I then filled it in as soon as I could and got back to them at the end of the day (as I was working). With just half an hour of the working day to go, Natasha completed my documentation and took payment and made sure I was insured for the weekend!
Balens were already the best in my opinion and this brilliant care today (especially guiding me willingly through tech processes!) was fabulous. Thanks Natasha!

I had a problem trying to renew my insurance on the automated telephone line and phoned Balens.
Scott was extremely pleasant and helpful and resolved the problem quickly and sent me an email link for payment. It is now completed thanks to Scott. I am insured for another year.

Sarah Dyer was amazing - went beyond the call of duty to try and sort out the issue I had having just retired. I have always found Balens very easy to deal with whenever I have had a query/ issue.

I've been with Balens for my professional endemic insurance for more than ten years. I have quite specific insurance needs, and I've always found Sarah very responsive. Customer service is always good. I would whole-heartedly recommend giving this company a try.

As someone needing therapist insurance for the first time this year, I really appreciated the level of support and care I received from Balen’s. I was fortunate enough to meet David Balen himself in India, who highly recommended the company, even in retirement.

I dealt with Joyce, Mae and, most recently, Scott, and all were incredibly empathetic, knowledgeable, patient with my many questions, and very efficient whenever changes needed to be made.

Although Balen’s wasn’t the cheapest option I looked at, their outstanding customer care made the decision easy. They gave me a level of confidence and reassurance that their competitors simply didn’t.
