Very disappointing experience. The cleanliness standards are unacceptable. The shower walls often have visible dirt, grime, and spit marks that appear to remain there for weeks, suggesting they are not being properly cleaned. There is also a persistent sewage smell coming from the sauna area.

Many pieces of gym equipment are regularly out of order, meaning members often have to queue to use the machines that are working.

The changing room facilities are also poorly maintained. Locker keys are frequently missing, making lockers unusable, and some lockers appear to be unavailable altogether. There are no hooks, hangers, or shelves in the showers for towels, shower gel, or shampoo, which is a basic expectation in any leisure centre.

Overall, the standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and facilities are far below what members should reasonably expect. I would not recommend this leisure centre in its current condition.

AURA Carrick on Shannon Aqua classes: A little horrified.
Just popped in here and spoke to manager on duty to give some feedback, did not want to lodge a formal complaint - but instead to give an opportunity to mgr to indicate the problems I was bringing to his attention warranted action. I am not convinced it will happen.
All of the below relates to Aqua classes and feedback received from senior citizens I work with - who regularly attend these classes:
- highlighted inability to hear any of the instruction because of loud music
- inability to feel they could do exercises properly because of lack of demos
- On many occasions staff were visibly bored (clock watching, repeating same exercises, no engagement) to the we point IPF participants feeling utterly disrespected
- Staff conducting class did minimum changes to routine … simply rotating the same few exercises over and over
- Overall sense of disrespect and an approach to simply ‘fill the pool’ … staggering number of participants … and take the money’ …(minimum of 50-60 the day I was there)
- Manager I spoke to kind of wrote a few notes on a comp slip .. all the while answering my feedback by defended the classes saying (1) participants chat a lot
(2) staff could be tired after other classes
(3) can depend on location in the pool (4) classes are very popular. He was unclear and unconvincing on ‘next steps’ … will chat to someone… blah blah ….

signed up and was told no cancellation notice or fees in contract as was reason left last gym , told it would be 50 euro over 6 months but if had a credit union card which i had, would be 45( which is crazy expensive as is a terrible gym ) and never any staff to help or aide you and terrible customer service skills as Ruby is rude and unfriendly and Adam the Manager there talks to you like you are a dog. Worst i have experienced and i have worked in customer service industry in Australia. They then not only did not give me the discount but unilaterally increased the contract to 55 without my consent which is a breach of contract anyways but then having been told before signing contract no need for notice that you must cancel before the 7th of the previous month or they take 55 outa your account indefinitely I did ring up on the Friday 1st of March and told by the Desk no need to cancel direct debit as it stops automatically but send and email on next month just to make sure cancelled. Which i did on the 1st but still took the 55 out, i rang on Tuesday the 2nd and told Shane would organise a 55 refund cheque and would call me back and left number. No call and rang back Wednesday and told by Adam that the girl on desk should have told me to email or write in before 7th of March and was incredibly rude essentially saying read your contract mate it does not matter what you were told by us its not in writing. Really poor customer service skills as rude and tone was essentially making a laugh of you.

So even though i rang up and confirmed and sent email and rang and told i would get a refund and even now i have written in before the 7th of April to cancel they still refuse to refund the 55 for April they took out ,,,,
So if people ring up and cancel doesnt count.unless in writing a letter you take funds out of peoples accounts indefinitely 🤔

Review of kids swimming lessons Drogheda.

Complete waste of money and time.

Booked our 5 and 7 year olds in for swimming lessons, both were put in turtles as it was their first time (understandable), we were not sure what to expect but it certainly wasn’t what we got, they spent the next 8 weeks simply splashing in the water, ‘listening to the fish’ or walking while pinching their fingers together, the instructor paid very little attention to the class and spent more time day dreaming and looking around with the kids left to their own devices. No feed back at any time was given and the updates stopped on the website at week 3. When it came to rebooking, the site said both our kids had passed all the skills required to progress to the next level, so we rebooked in the hope the next 8 lessons would be better.
HOWEVER
After rebooking it now showed both our kids hand not passed the class as they couldn’t do a ‘star float’, I took this up with the swim co-ordinater (very nice girl) who assessed our kids and immediately passed our 7 year old who is very comfortable in the water ( and was when he started) and should never have been failed. Unfortunately our 5 year old didn’t pass.

Having spoken to the other parents of the kids in the class , 70% had also not passed mostly due to this ‘star float’ skill.

Fast forward another 8 weeks lessons and still my 5 year old can not perform the star float skill and thus not allowed to progress again, while my 7 year old has also not progressed from his group.

Now I know teaching kids is tough and they learn at different levels and speeds, but after nearly 400 euro and 16 weeks of lessons, we have 2 kids who are no better than when they started, it’s at that stage you start to look at the instructors, the curriculum and its implementation.

For example, whatever the kids in the class were having difficulty with is not specifically addressed to try get them to the required level, our 5 year old could not do a star float, however less than 30 seconds in each class is dedicated to improving these star floats with no extra attention given to this skill.

Suffice to say we have NOT re booked again and have taken our 2 kids elsewhere.
