When I placed an order with Athena…

Update to add: They only offered a refund after I filed a dispute, and it is with PayPal. I made it clear from my first message I wanted to cancel, but another point they aren't clear on is they use Amazon to ship, so of course it is expedited to protect them from the desired cancellations they likely anticipate from their sneaky subscription process.

When I placed an order with Athena Club, it did not say anywhere on the confirmation that I was subscribing. I might have expected it from the razors, but I was surprised to see a charge for the "shower oil" four months later. This product has disgusting smell that seems like it has a sickeningly sweet scent piled on top of a bad smelling base like it is trying to cover up the natural smell. It isn't oily, but sort of a gooey gel. Awful. They charge my paypal at 2:15 a.m. Being asleep, i don't see it until I wake up for work. I send an email immediately to customer service, sent at 6:51 a.m. and their response is basically "we process orders immediately and cannot cancel anything ever."

This is a company that spams my inbox every 2-3 days like clockwork with an advertisement. I know because I searched my inbox for ANY indication that a renewal of this subscription was coming. There was none. The order confirmation from March does not say it is a subscription. Apparently I was supposed to worship Athena and check my account when I didn't expect new razors for a full year.

With shipping and taxes it comes to more than $16. I don't know anyone who would pay that much for a terrible shower oil. As an add on to a razor purchase? Sure. As a standalone subscription? Give me a break. If they wanted repeat customers they would confirm a subscription in the confirmation email and confirm an upcoming subscription. Even Amazon manages to do that and it isn't known to be the most ethical company.

Our warehouse processes orders quickly, so our team may not be able to cancel your order, but we're always happy to help out with other resolutions if you're no longer interested in receiving your scheduled order.

It looks like our team first offered account credit and then approved a refund. However, because a payment dispute has been opened with your bank, the transaction is under review, and our team is unable to process a refund refund directly. Any additional questions regarding the chargeback process can be addressed by your bank.

I had the worst experience with this company I will never purchase from them again. They don’t take there customers seriously and there policies are not aligning with what the website is saying.

I absolutely love Athena Club

I absolutely love Athena Club. I already have Amber Hours and Golden Vanilla and honestly nothing compares to these products, the scents are unreal and the quality is amazing.

I live in the UK so I do have to pay quite a hefty postage cost, which makes it feel like a bit of a luxury, but they are completely worth it.

I also recently had an issue with my account and order, and their customer service was exceptional. They sorted everything out quickly and went above and beyond, which made such a difference.

Between the products and the service, I’ll definitely keep coming back.

Been a Customer for Years!

I've used Athena Club razor blades for a few years now because their blades do a great job and last for a long time, making them more affordable than anything at the drug store! Plus, they have great customer service!
Try their razors and other items, too!

Best products I’ve ever used and smelled!

Athena Club products are absolutely amazing! Aside from how well they work, they smell absolutely phenomenal. I just received my package today, and I was so excited to smell “Love Letter”. Omg, it is the best thing I’ve ever smelled. I can’t wait to take a shower! Athena Club, please don’t ever, ever, ever discontinue this scent!!

I placed 2 orders from Athena Club, my first order shipped the next day but my second was taking longer so I emailed them and within minutes I received a response and was provided a tracking link and was told my order would be shipped the next day. Everything was so easy and service was great and not to mention all the new products are just over the top amazing!

First Blush Hair & body mist, deodorant and body lotion.

I have been waiting for so long for more fragrances from athena club. Love their products and couldn't wait for a body mist. Got in the mail today the Fist blush fragrance and i am so impressed with the quality of the fragrance, smells like a luxury perfume, so sophisticated and feminine, cleam and light. I can't wait to try them all. I'm in loveee with their products!! 😍🥰

These used to be some of the best...now they're a disappointment

These used to be some of the best razors I've ever used. Unfortunately, the quality has dropped to the point I refuse to pay for them anymore. The lubrication that used to surround the blades is almost nonexistent. I used to be able to use one blade at least 4 or 5 times and now I get one good use and by the second it's scraping my skin. They ought to be ashamed.

*They've offered to send me a replacement. Hopefully, the blades will be what they used to be. I will update once I receive them

Our blade refills are manufactured in the same way, so it's unusual that you've had trouble with a recent order. Your feedback helps us make sure that our products continue to meet your expectations.

We also appreciate you reaching out and sharing pictures of the products you received. To provide a little more information on the water-activated serum, there are small indents along the top and the bottom of the cartridge that hold the serum. When you use a new blade refill, the serum will expand from the cartridge when it's exposed to water. For this reason, we typically recommend running the cartridge under water first to give the serum time to activate and expand from the cartridge. The serum in a new, unused cartridge will not extend beyond the surface of the cartridge. We hope this speaks to the difference you noticed between your new, unused cartridge, and the older, used cartridge you shared with us.

Storing your razor on it's hook and in a dry place between uses can also help the serum last longer. If you shave in the shower, you may want to leave shaving to the end of your routine to make sure your skin is hydrated and your hair is softened before shaving. We've also found that shaving in the same direction that your hair grows or using a shave cream for added protection can help prevent razor burn and nicks.

Great products but questionable business practices

I love these razors and blades and they are the best ones I have tried and at a decent price. But as others mentioned, the packaging is terrible. Then there is the shipping. I got an email telling me my tracking was included. After several days I messaged to ask why it didn't work and it took several back and forth responses for the rep to admit that they don't use tracking for those but it would be 3-10 days (not business days). It arrived on day 11. That is an excessive amount of time for shipping from OH to CA but tracking as promised would have at least allowed me to know they were actually coming. I was told the names of stores I could go get some if I wanted. Um...so then what's the point of a subscription? I also had added some scrub to a previous shipment but decided I didn't want more right now and the hoops and number of steps I had to go through to cancel that item from my subscription was a lot and then I had to explain myself.

Packaging keeps getting worse

Packaging keeps getting worse. Refill blades once came individually sealed and grouped in zipper pouches. It was easy to store and great for travel. Now blades come in cheap cardboard packaging with only a tiny blade guard. The new packing cannot be stored near the shower because the serum strips around the blades absorb humidity and become slimey.

Great Quality Shave Products

My experience with Athena has been great! High quality products. I had recently been subscribed to another direct to consumer brand, but I feel that their quality has gone downhill so I was looking for a change. Athena has reliable good quality razor blades, and I recently tried both the shave bar and shave foam. I was pleasantly surprised at the shave bar, because I was admittedly unsure going into it. I have always been a foam or gel gal. But thankfully the bar lathered up almost as much as the cans (took a little rubbing though to get a good foam going.) I think it could be a great eco-friendly alternative to the cans.

Just over it

I’ve had my subscription for a bit now but honestly not impressed you always get razor burn underarms and the stability of the razor blade it’s easy to fling off plus they took my $ on 1/5/25 and it’s now 1/19/25 and they still haven’t filled my order I keep getting the same automated email that it’s on back order so I canceled all my subscriptions and asked for a refund to be ignored and was sent the same stupid email it’s on back order mind you I’ve already had to shop elsewhere so now I lost subscription $ over $50 plus having to buy in store

Perfect fall and winter candle

Ordered this candle on a whim as I was searching for just the right cozy candle for fall/winter. If you're not a pumpkin spice vanilla caramel cookie candle person this might be the ONE. It smells delicious without smelling like dessert. Spicy and warm with a ton of throw. My husband has almost no sense of smell and he could smell this immediately when he walked in the door. It's very similar to salt and stones black rose and oud. woody and earthy with just a subtle floral note. Perfect for the colder months!

The Tesla of Razors

A LIFE CHANGING RAZOR!!! WOW!! I will genuinely never go back to another brand. Athena is the Tesla of razors. I have never felt so smooth! Also, if you’re someone like me that has struggled with razor bumps definitely give Athena a try!! 100000000/10 recommend. Still can’t believe how spectacular this razor is. Plus, it’s cute too!
