Kom for sent til at afhente min bil hos Alamo i Catania Lufthavn, da hele lufthavnen var lukket på grund af aske fra vulkanen Etna. Kom frem dagen efter, hvor Alamo ikke længere havde flere biler.
Medarbejderen ville ikke hjælpe. Hverken med at finde en løsning eller med at kontakte Discovercars som vi havde booket igennem. De tog pengene, men vi fik ingen bil. Kunne man give nul stjerner gjorde jeg gerne det.
Vi gik videre til Avis Biludlejning som straks hjalp og endda kompenserede noget af vores tab fra Alamo.

Our flight got diverted to St. Louis during a weather delay over July 4th weekend, with a reservation booked for O'Hare. Alamo confirmed by phone that switching pickup to St. Louis and drop-off to O'Hare would be fine given the weather delay.
Showed up to the St. Louis location and got a completely different story from an employee named Robin — rude, dismissive, and visibly annoyed that we'd interrupted her personal phone call at 3am. She refused to honor what we'd been told, tried to force us into a brand new reservation that only let us return the car to St. Louis (defeating the entire purpose), and wouldn't listen to a word we said. Ended up stranded at the airport for 18 hours with zero help.
It got worse: when we finally got to O'Hare, our reservation had been locked and falsely marked as "car already picked up" — apparently something Robin did on her way out. A manager had to manually clear it before we could get the car we'd already paid for.
The O'Hare team was fantastic and saved the whole trip — no complaints there. But the St. Louis location and this employee specifically are a disaster. Do yourself a favor and rent from literally anywhere else.

We rented a Ford Mustang from Alamo in Puerto Rico through Expedia as part of our vacation package. The vehicle was not even clean when we picked it up. To make matters worse, throughout our week-long rental we found cockroaches inside the car every day. Driving a vehicle in that condition was extremely unpleasant and completely unacceptable.

When we returned the vehicle, the staff apologized for the condition of the car. They explained that they could not process the refund through Expedia, so they told us a refund check would be mailed to our address instead. Unfortunately, despite their apology and promise, we never received the refund and never heard back from Alamo, even after following up.

This was a very disappointing experience. Receiving a dirty vehicle with a cockroach infestation, followed by a promised refund that was never provided, reflects very poor customer service. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this Alamo location.

Derrière un accueil tout sourire et chaleureuse poignée de main : on a découvert l'art de se faire arnaquer. Impossible de savoir si cela relève de la malhonnêteté, ou de l'incompétence ou de pratiques professionnelles abusives permettant de rattraper des coûts de location plus bas que la concurrence. Vigilance amis touristes, surtout si vous ne parlez pas anglais !
- Tentative de reclaim pour une clé de sécurité pour les roues qui aurait disparu (en fait jamais existé)
- trois conducteurs facturés au lieu de deux : refus à l'aéroport de notre mastercard gold car pas une carte de crédit mais de débit , du coup changement de carte ET de conducteur ! mais ils ont facturé 3 conducteurs quand même, 130 livres !
- On n'a jamais eu d'explications sur des PREMIUM FEES apparaissant sur la facture....

They try to use policies and delay people who are clearly listed for driving but not the “credit card used” person to avoid renting a a car. on top of that also tried to “make another reservation” and charge $1000 on the spot. will forever use a taxi or other rental companies

Photograph and video every single inch of the vehicle before driving away. Trustpilot
Dispute any fraudulent charges directly with your card issuer — some customers report that Helvetic Motion didn’t even contest the chargeback, suggesting they know the charges wouldn’t hold up. Trustpilot
So while I can’t call them legally proven fraudsters, the volume and consistency of complaints across independent platforms strongly suggests a pattern of predatory practices. If you’ve been charged by them, a credit card dispute is your best first move.

Esperienza molto deludente. Avevamo prenotato e pagato una Nissan Qashqai o un'auto di categoria equivalente. Dopo oltre un'ora di attesa ci è stata proposta un'auto molto più piccola, mentre ai clienti arrivati dopo di noi venivano consegnate auto della categoria che avevamo prenotato.
Dopo le nostre rimostranze ci è stata proposta un'auto di categoria superiore, ma con un bagagliaio troppo piccolo per i nostri bagagli. A quel punto ho deciso di filmare l'auto esclusivamente per documentarne le condizioni prima del ritiro, visto che il rapporto di fiducia era ormai compromesso.
Invece di trovare una soluzione, la consegna dell'auto è stata rifiutata. Non ci è stata rilasciata alcuna dichiarazione scritta del rifiuto, ma solo un modulo per presentare un reclamo. Nel frattempo la cauzione era già stata preautorizzata sulla carta e siamo rimasti senza auto, dovendo raggiungere la destinazione in taxi con una bambina di 8 anni.
A rendere la situazione ancora più spiacevole è stato l'atteggiamento del personale, che ho percepito come poco preparato alla gestione di un problema e più orientato allo scontro che alla ricerca di una soluzione. In una situazione del genere mi sarei aspettata professionalità, capacità di mediazione e attenzione al cliente, qualità che purtroppo non ho riscontrato.
Un'esperienza che ci ha causato notevoli disagi, stress e un inizio di vacanza rovinato. Da una società di autonoleggio ci si aspetta professionalità, trasparenza e rispetto delle prenotazioni: purtroppo, nel nostro caso, è mancato tutto questo.

Ci siamo trovati molto bene, ci hanno dato una macchina in orrine( che non è scontato) e restituito la caparra subito.

Absolutely terrible experience with this rental company. We returned our rental vehicle without any issues being mentioned at drop-off, and then a day later we received an email accusing us of being responsible for alleged hail damage to the vehicle, without any evidence being provided.

The major hail storm in the Denver area reportedly occurred days before we even took possession of the vehicle. During our stay, the vehicle remained parked at our resort location where we did not experience any hail.

This situation has been extremely frustrating, especially because we were not informed of any damage at the time the vehicle was returned. Customers should absolutely take detailed photos and videos of rental vehicles before leaving the lot and again at return for their own protection.

Very disappointed with how this situation has been handled and I don’t recommend using Alamo.

Oficina de Álamo en Trieste estación de trenes, alquilé auto 15 días antes hoy 29 abril, por 4 días, fui a recoger el auto ya abonado y me dijeron q la licencia mía de conducir no es válida, fue renovada hace mes y medio y es licencia nacional otorgada por el municipio donde vivo hace décadas q renuevo licencia incluso alquiler autos en exterior y es la primera vez q me salen con esta cosa incongruente, incluso tengo la licencia conducir internacional q si el nacional no está vigente no lo otorgan, con lo cual no me anularon la reserva perdí mi dinero, quedé a pié tuve w tomar un tren a Trento sino perdía también el alojamiento, unos caraduras estafadores, frente a estos ladrones está Avis q pregunté por mi licencia y me dijeron q estaba todo en orden y bien q no saben porque no me fue aceptada, recomiendo no tomar desde Argentina estos ladrones y Vero ayuda me dieron un teléfono y me echaron se puede decir, ladrones estafadores Álamo, de Trieste Estación de trenes

Un 10 para Álvaro del aeropuerto de Madrid Barajas por su rápida atención y servicio y para Judit en la gestión de la devolución del coche.Sin duda contaré con ellos para reservar un coche en más ocasiones.

Hired at YUL airport. The printed and the electronic damage reports differed, car delivered with damage present. Returned the car with no new damage and received the closing of contract confirming 0 charge. Later in the week I receive an email from damage recovery with an unintelligible form to fill out. Two weeks later I receive an email from damage recovery alleging damage. Still the company has not supplied even a damage report, just a statement saying they are repairing the car and I will have to pay by cheque. I have car hire excess insurance but they are unlikely to pay against an unspecified repair without any receipts or reports. I booked the manager's pick vehicle via Expedia, clearly they picked a vehicle with known damage and could not even agree on different rental agreements what level of damage was present. Avoid Alamo at all cost, as they do not reply to emails and zero attempt has been made by the company to confirm the level of damage using CCTV and similarly the only way to dispute the charge is a Canadian number I cannot access. This is pretty much criminal activity, the fact they want funds by cheque suggests money laundering and I am unsure how I will recover this loss on the basis of a sentence in an email "we are now repairing the vehicle", as I doubt any insurance company would accept that statement. Nor were they willing to provide me with the necessary words on how the damage occurred in order to file an insurance claim.
Well, in the end Alamo did not proceed with charging me. It took 4 weeks to finally produce a damage report, I challenged them to verify the damage on the airport CCTV and they relented in the charge. The whole experience was weird, worrying and despite the positive final outcome unnecessarily distressing.

Watch out for the damage claims when you return the car. I hired a car for 3 days and a did a thorough review of the vehicle before I initially drove off. I took photo and video evidence. On returning the vehicle, Alamo claimed that the key was damaged (later retracted) and the tyre had a gouge. The scratch was so small (fingernail size) that it could not properly be identified on photos or videos previously taken. Be very careful as this trick may cost you up to £200 in damage claims and admin fees (£80 administrative fees). It is not worth renting from Alamo with are so many other options where the customer experience is so much better and for a similar price.

Very unsafe and disappointing experience

We booked an appointment to collect the car in the morning, but even with a confirmed time we had to wait over 40 minutes because they said the car was not yet available.

In the middle of winter, they gave us a car with summer tyres, which was extremely dangerous. We slipped on the road many times and genuinely feared for our safety.

Because of this, we contacted their Aberdeen branch, who were very kind, helpful, and professional, and arranged a car change. Unfortunately, this still wasted almost three hours due to a mistake that was not ours.

What made this even worse was the lack of care from the Glasgow branch. There was not even an apology from the person who answered my call, and they showed no concern for customer safety at all. They only offered a one-hour extension, which was completely unfair given the circumstances.

A stressful, unsafe, and frustrating experience. I would not recommend this company, especially in winter conditions.

Wir haben ein Auto in Buenos Aires gemietet. Am Ende der Fahrt gaben wir es zurück, der Vetrag wurde "geschlossen". Nach ca. zwei Wochen wurden aber mehr als 800 € extra für angebliche Strafmandate von der Kreditkarte abgebucht, obwohl wir nur für € 500,00 garantiert hatten. Das ist unseriös.

I rented a car from Alamo/Enterprise in Cologne Germany and returned it undamaged, documented with clear time-stamped photos.

Days later, the company charged €1,200 with no explanation, no damage report, no photos, no invoice, no contact.

I opened a formal case and a chargeback because they failed to provide any proof for the charge.

This experience shows a serious issue in their post-rental billing process. Anyone planning to rent a car here should document everything carefully.

I will update this review based on how the company resolves the situation.
