Very disappointing experience with assessment, treatment and aftercare.
I originally attended Ailesbury for a skin assessment and was told I had melasma. This was documented in writing by Dr Divya Gautam as a definitive diagnosis, along with a treatment plan recommending prescription 4% hydroquinone and 0.05% tretinoin, with the individual products costing €474 or €730.50 for the full Obagi Nu-Derm kit.
(I did not go ahead with this, instinctively)
I have since had my skin assessed by another dermatologist using photographic/deep imaging, and was told that I do not have melasma. I find it very concerning that I was given a definitive diagnosis and an intensive, expensive treatment plan which I have subsequently been told was not appropriate for my skin.
I also had lip filler at Ailesbury which went badly wrong. The filler created a very obvious ridge beneath my lip, which looked like a worm sitting under the skin. I raised this with the clinic but was not offered a proper follow-up appointment. I was told to wait till swelling settles, massage my lips and sent photos. I was essentially left to wait for the filler to dissolve.
Despite this, I recently considered returning to the clinic. Their website advertises a “FREE CONSULTATION with one of our Expert and Friendly Medical Team”, so I enquired about seeing a nurse. I was then told the consultation would cost €50.
I understand that clinics charge for consultations, but I find the wording of the website misleading, and given my previous experience, I was disappointed that there was no acknowledgement of the previous treatment issue or any goodwill offered.
This isn’t about €50. It’s about trust, transparency, the quality of assessment and, most importantly, what happens when a treatment goes wrong.
I’ve now chosen to take my skin and aesthetic treatments elsewhere and would not recommend Ailesbury based on my experience.
