En avril 2025, par l’intermédiaire de la plateforme RENTALCARS, j’ai loué une voiture pour le mois d’août à l'aéroport de Sarajevo en Bosnie. Le prestataire de service était la société
387 Rent a Car.

Dans le cadre de cette location, j’ai pris la Zurich Full Insurance EEA d’un montant de 77,84€. A priori, cette assurance additionnelle devait me couvrir pour tous les soucis rencontrés durant la période de location.

Lorsque nous sommes arrivés dans le bureau de la société de location, l’employé nous a tout de suite expliqué que nous n’étions couverts en rien (ou pas grand-chose) et que nous devions prendre, pour notre sécurité, une assurance complémentaire de 300€. Bien entendu, nous avons refusé en argumentant que nous étions déjà couverts. A ce moment-là, notre relation avec l’employé est passée du « limite poli » au froid polaire. Comme on dit : il y a eu un avant et un après !

Après la signature du contrat, au moment de la prise de garantie sur la carte de crédit, l’employé 387 Rent a Car nous a signalé qu’il n’était techniquement pas en mesure de faire la réservation sur la carte de crédit. Il n’était pas possible de passer la carte dans un « sabot » et de taper le code la carte. Nous étions désemparés… Au bout de 5 minutes, agacé, il nous a dit d’aller chercher l’équivalent de 1.200€ dans un distributeur pour faire un dépôt de garantie en cash. Nous avons refusé cette option. J'ai demandé l'annulation de la transaction et il m'a dit que je devais prendre directement contact avec RENTALCARS. Nous avons essayé de contacter RENTALCARS immédiatement par téléphone mais ils sont restés injoignables. Dépités, nous avons laissé tomber ce loueur malhonnête pour nous orienter vers une autre agence de location juste à côté. Nous avons loué une autre voiture pour laquelle nous n’avons même pas dû faire une empreinte sur la carte de crédit ?!

Le soir même, j’écrivais un mail de plainte à RENTALCARS. La réponse a été : « Je suis sincèrement désolée d’apprendre les difficultés rencontrées lors de la prise en charge du véhicule. Dans ce type de situation, il est essentiel de nous contacter immédiatement sur place, afin que nous puissions tenter de vous assister ou intervenir auprès de l’agence. Compte tenu du délai écoulé et de l'absence de contact de la part de l'agence, nous ne pouvons vous rembourser que la protection Zurich Full Insurance EEA d’un montant de 77,84 €. » Ceci alors que j’avais fourni la preuve (printscreen) de ma tentative de contact téléphonique avec RENTALCARS.

A l’avenir, je passerai en direct par les sociétés de location. En utilisant un intermédiaire tel que RENTALCARS, le prix est certes intéressant mais le Service Après-Vente est nul.

I would like to thank the owners of this office very much. Dealing with them was simple and smooth, and they were responsive during the period of my renting the vehicle, especially the employee, Edin❤️

Scammers, they tell you the credit card doesn’t work so you have to pay ridiculous amounts of insurance, casco, to get the car. It’s a good job I didn’t take the in the end. Apparently they also scam you for artificial damages after the rental. GO WITH A WELL KNOWN COMPANY IF YOU ARE GOING SOMEWHERE YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN BEFORE.

Terrible company. They refuse to let you use the credit card with a pin so gets declined as insecure. Massive scam to get more money from you. Some of the men on the desk are quite intimidating - there was on lovely guy called Solomon but the rest could not care less. Horrible first impression of Sarajevo. Please do not book with them.

I prepaid for my car booking. It was midnight when I landed in Skopje. I went to the desk, and the staff member didn't seem to know what he was doing. I was given two options: pay an extra 300 euros so I wouldn't need to leave a deposit, with any damages covered (which I believe is a scam), or pay a 1200 euro deposit. I chose to pay the deposit.
The person told me that they had changed how they process charges to the credit card. In the past, they would use a card machine to block the money on the account, and that was it. Now, they try to do it online by requesting an OTP code from my bank for me to authorize. I’ve never known this to be done with a credit card—only with a debit card—due to security reasons.
The person tried twice to request a code, but both attempts were declined by my bank. I checked my banking app, and there were no issues with funds or any requests or texts from my bank. The staff member said if they tried one more time and it was declined, my card would be blocked, and they wouldn’t be able to try again.
Since I had no other options, I asked him to try again, but it was declined both times. When I asked what the next step was, he said the only option was to pay the extra 300 euros. I asked why they couldn’t use the card machine to block the deposit, and he claimed it was not working—though it was working for payments (which I believe is a scam).
I offered to leave my card and have him hold my information so I could come back the next day and call my bank to verify if there were any issues, but he refused, saying he couldn’t give me the car until I paid the deposit—even though they already had all my information.
The staff member was unhelpful and seemed only interested in making me pay the 300 euros before releasing the car. After about 30 minutes of going in circles, I decided to go to another rental company at the airport, which was open at midnight, and rent a car from them.
I have used many rental car companies before, and none of them have tried to request an OTP code to take a deposit. This company appears to be a scam—they might try to get more money from you, especially if your flight is late and you’re stuck at the airport or forced to pay high taxi fares.
Any positive reviews for this rental company in Skopje are probably fake. Please avoid using them. Hopefully, you read this before booking with this company. I am currently working on getting a refund through the website I used to make the reservation. When I requested for refund he said that they will not be able to issue a refund because this was booked though a website

They charged me 1387.62 KM ($841.03) for a small scratch that could have been polished. They even pressured me into selling their own insurance beforehand. This is a car rental company to be avoided and not trusted.

I arrived at the desk in Skopje airport and the person who was working at the desk told me my booking has been cancelled, they automatically cancel bookings. They have some rule if you don't collect your car within the first 1 hr they will cancel.

They are present in Sarajevo as well, they are many negative reviews for this 387 rent a car about this company I can say is biggest Evil I had experienced.

I would say to anyone not to book this is evil money laundering office, they are using airport traveler's and stealing money. Avoid for anything. Don't Book or you will regret.

Be prepared to pay double the amount you do online, even if you think everything is settled before you arrive. This is a scam company, but unfortunately I think (almost) all the companies in Sarajevo operates like this.

This company will provide you with three different «insurance policies» options while you are there. It doesn’t matter if you have marked it on Booking and already paid for it.

Then they will pretend that your Credit card for the deposit doesn’t work, so the first option isn’t possible to do. «Luckily» the debit card works, so in reality you only have two horrible options. You need to pay outrageous a lot of money for the «full coverage» package. But still it’s not really all included.

You also have to remember to get a police report if anything happens to the car while you use it. If not they will assume it was your fault or you where under the influence of alcohol and then the policy will make you pay for the damage either way.

They also use time when you deliver the car, with few workers at the counter. So be aware of timewasting before your flight. This is also good for the company in case of a issue with a damage, as you probably just want to pay and leave if you have short time before flying away.

My advise is; stay away. Book a more known company, the price you get on internet is not real.

I give two stars for one of the workers there being a good guy.

Serious lack of transparency – be very careful with this company
I feel a moral responsibility to warn others about my recent experience with 387rentacar.com Sarajevo. I booked a car for a group trip through Booking.com, opting for their comprehensive insurance to avoid the hassle of paying a deposit or worrying about small scratches.
However, when I arrived to collect the car, I was told I still needed to leave a €1200 deposit via credit card – despite paying for full insurance. When I queried this, staff simply said: “What you booked through Booking.com is between you and them, we have nothing to do with that.”
Upon closer inspection of the small print, it turns out that in case of damage, I would need to pay the rental company directly and then claim reimbursement from Booking.com. This crucial detail is only visible after you complete the booking, which I find deeply misleading. In my opinion, 387rentacar should not even be listed on Booking.com under such terms.
To make matters worse, for unclear reasons, they were unable to process the €1200 block on my HSBC credit card, which has a limit well above that amount. As a solution, they pushed me to pay for their own "full comprehensive insurance" for €180. Yet when they charged my card, they billed me 360 Bosnian Marks, which converts to around €184.50. Not only was this higher than quoted, but quoting prices in euros in Bosnia (where only Bosnian Marks are legal currency) seems questionable at best.
I had looked at previous negative reviews but assumed paying for comprehensive cover would avoid issues. Instead, I felt forced into paying extra just to avoid being stranded, especially since this happened late at night with friends waiting. I lost an hour and a half just collecting the car.
In short, the issue isn’t just the extra money – it’s the feeling of being misled and trapped. This lack of transparency leaves customers feeling conned and damages trust in local businesses, which ultimately harms Bosnia’s tourism reputation.
I hope this review helps others avoid similar frustration. Be cautious and read the fine print carefully before booking or simply do not use 387rentacar.

Save your time and money — DO NOT rent with this company, especially the personnel at Sarajevo Airport.

My experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating. From the moment I arrived, the staff were unprofessional, unfriendly, and seemed more interested in finding ways to charge hidden fees than actually providing service. What should have been a simple car rental turned into a stressful and expensive ordeal.

02/20/2024 on website T-mobile and I need pay security deposit $1097.95 if something happens from May 01 - May 21. When I picked up car they told me I need put deposit 2000 BAM if something happens,if everything okay we give too you money back.Around May 11-13 ,not sure,they called me they need a car for inspection,they forgot and that he’s mistake and no additional charges for me at all and they asked for my location to bring me other car,WW polo, very dirty and smell of cigarettes.I returned the car on May20 clean and smell good,I’m asked him for a deposit of
2000 Bosnian marks($1097,95) that they took from my credit card, they said everything is fine with the car and it will be automatically returned to the card for couple days.After 2 weeks I’m called because no money back to me but -nobody answered.I’m send text messages,send emails many times…nobody answered.
After one month they send me a email:this $1097,95 is for insurance?? When I pay and signed we never talk about insurance.

I rented a car through holidaycars and was going to get a car from surprice, but without any information I ended up with 387 rent a car. They did no profound check up of the car when I went to get it, the car was so damaged but they refused to mark all damages. The deposit of 1500 was not blocked but immediately booked away from my account, which is only legal if you rent the car for over 12 days, not for 4 days. They are not trustworthy at all, very rude and force you to pay for things without any explanation.

387Rent is an absolutely terrible company. They make money through overpriced insurance and outright extortion — it’s truly shameful.
Their insurance costs as much as €60 per day, and that’s just for a Volkswagen Polo.

I chose not to buy their insurance. When I returned the car, they found a tiny scratch and demanded €675 in compensation, even mocking me for not filming the car at the start.
What a bunch of awful scammers.

Thankfully, I booked through DiscoverCars.com. Their insurance was only €15 per day, and as always, they covered the damage without any hassle.

I’m so grateful for their reliable support — it gives me peace of mind to rent from car companies I’ve never even heard of.
