Do Not Buy from Lay-z-Spa

My lay-z-spa Tuscany did not work properly the first time I used it, and in particular the app did not work. Customer services requested video footage that would show personal passwords. They accused me of failing the follow instructions when they were unable to resolve the issues. There were additional issues involving the clips and the cover. After 7 calls, and only 8 days after delivery, I wrote to them to reject the product under the consumer rights act 2015. They refused to process this and told me I could not communicate though email, but must use their portal to return the product and that it must be unused and in it’s original packaging. To deny their customers redress under the law is outrageous. I am happy to share the full text of my issues and of their response. I would urge anyone not to buy from this company

Ninja. Be Honest about your products.

In its product specifications, for the Ninja Crispi, Ninja does not show cooking temperatures, so there was no way to know before purchasing that the UK model is significantly different, and in my view inferior to the US model. While the US model reaches about 235-240 degrees C in max crisp, the UK one tops out at 185, degrees C, which turns out he be around 170 degrees C when measured after 10 minutes with an oven thermometer. This is not enough to get the results one would hope for in an air fryer and I understand that it’s even less than the normal air fryer setting in the US models. My normally crusty veggie burgers were pale and flabby, potato waffles gummy and french does just OK after double the time stated in the manual. Ninja. Why the difference? I made my purchasing decision based on all the good reviews in YouTube. ALL of them on US models. I didn’t know the difference, because you didn’t tell us. If you think the US version needs a high heat setting, why don’t suppose the UK doesn’t? So disappointed.
Well you can read the response from ninja below. No offer of help, no explanation, no answers to my questions, just standard cookie cutter drivel. I have several ninja products and they are great. Thus far customer service had been great too. This time however, not even a personal response. I won’t buy again in the future.

Appalling customer service.

Do not buy. This is unfortunately the second poor experience I have had with this company. I bought a Pulsetto Fit recently. It took a week to arrive which was slower than promised. When it did, It was dead out of the box. It flashed red when I tried to charge it which indicates an error. I tried 3 cables and 3 outlets but the error remained. I emailed the company explaining in detail the problem what I had tried to remedy it, and asking for a refund. As a UK customer I’m entitled to protection under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which allows me a full refund, and also under the company’s own returns policy. However, when I eventually got my reply, my description of the fault was ignored and I was told to try different cables etc. I was told that if this failed they would replace the item but would not offer a refund. Given their attitude, and the fact that it’s my second issue with the company, I do not want a replacement and will be opening a case against them in order to get my money back.
A week on and it just gets worse. Eventually, after many emails, Pulsetto came back to me offering to take back the device, but tell me that not only was I responsible for return postage, but also that they would charge me a handling fee for the privilege of temporarily owning a device that never worked. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the seller must pay return postage and is not allowed to charge a handling or restocking fee for return of defective items. This I should point out is also in violation of their own terms and conditions which promise a full refund. One other thing. While researching an alternative product, I found out some interesting things. It turns out that the “trials” of Pulsetto have been exaggerated and as of late 2025, there have been NO independent, peer reviewed trials of the device, and no large scale trials, and it seems also that some medical professionals question the safety of putting electrical stimulation devices over the carotid artery. Anyway, that’s where we are now, and my advice is to avoid.

Fourth failed mattress. No response from Simba.

We are now on our fourth mattress. Each one has developed faults in the foam, which has split. You only notice this when you realise that the mattress has gone from supportive and medium firm, to something resembling a marsh mallow. For the avoidance of doubt, these mattresses are less than 3 years old and have been used my different people in the family and not for anything unusual. I’m writing this review now as I have been unable to contact simba and had to replace my mattress yesterday because my back was hurting too much. If anyone from simba reads this, please get in touch. Thank you for getting in touch. Please supply a phone number for me to contact you. After so many problems I do not wish to deal with a bot. Update. Simba sent an email for me to reply to, but it bounced when I tried. Not good Simba.
I finally got a repose from simba as a result of this review. Unfortunately I had to replace my mattress in the meantime and living in a very small space, could not keep the old one. Apparently I’d been talking to someone in the US on chat - I don’t know how that happened and so my problem was ignored. I do appreciate their rules, and that the photos I had were not sufficient, but a bit of leeway would have been nice. Anyway, I’ve lost my Simba mattress and no help, even though I had no way of knowing I was talking to the wrong person. Anyway, I’m concerned that the lower end Simba mattresses are much inferior to the more expensive ones, so beware. I did get a replacement in a previous mattress, but for one, it took a very long time. Be sure you really want one before buying.

Danger to celiacs and those with allergies.

I bought a product which according to the product description did not contain wheat. When it arrived I opened it and ate without reading the ingredients which was too small and covered by a sticker. I became ill as I’m celiac. I contacted the company and they really didn’t want to know and just sent a photo of the packet which didn’t draw. They don’t seem to want to take responsibility for their error.

Unhelpful

I am disabled and dispute repeated calls Lekto have not provided me with even a days notice of delivery. The drivers have arrived without trolleys (or masks) and I have not had sufficient notice to arrange for help to bring in the delivery. Also, when I had an issue with a product, the person in the phone was extremely unwilling to even consider that the problem might not be my fault and would not offer an alternative.
