I climber Kilimanjaro and everything was perfect. The food, the stuff, the comfortable of the trip!

John and his local team were excellent. I did a 6 day Kili summit followed by a 2 day safari. They're extremely flexible and helpful with scheduling.

They go out of their way to help you with what ever you need. Showed me around town, taking me off the beaten track to less touristy shops and places to eat. The homegrown climbing team made me really feel like I was apart of the team rather than just another tourist, which was especially important being an experienced solo mountaineer & traveler. I got to know the team, sharing meals and stories with the team on the trail and at dinner while I got to learn a little Swahili.

John pairs you up with excellent characters that match your skills and personality. Hudson was the best guide, especially for having to deal with an excited quick mountaineer guide from CO. My safari driver was hilarious company and knew the best routes to avoid crowds and get angles to view the wild life.

John himself is also a local. He was extremely helpful, organizing everything. He's available around the clock to support in any way you need. He doesn't try to upsell you and sell you anything he doesn't believe in. Giving you suggestions on trips and locations to explore outside of his zone.

Overall can not recommend any other company to go with when travelling to Mt Kili and the Safari. Being indigenous myself it was important to me find a homegrown team that lives and breaths it, rather than a overseas travel agency that just books you and overcharges for their overhead.

Signed up for the 8-day Lemosho route to climb Mount Kilimanjaro followed by 5-day Safari tour. I chose XPATS International because of the seamless pre arrival assistance provided; information was readily available on the website and John is quick in his replies. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was a breeze due to the care and comfort provided by my guide, Harold, and team. Appreciated Harold’s care in checking on my well-being constantly throughout the entire trek, especially going on short acclimatisation hikes to lower the chances of altitude sickness. My first ever safari experience was pleasant with plenty of explanation from my guide Silvanus and we managed to spot the big 5 successfully. A key highlight was to witness a male lion feeding at sunrise, thanks to Silvanus’ idea to leave the lodge early.

My daughter and I booked a private 6 day Machame Route up Kilimanjaro followed by a 2 day safari with john from Xpats. While researching what company to go with I choose XPats because it's a locally owned company and John was always quick to respond with any and all questions I had. From the moment we arrived in Arusha from the time we left, John took care of us. Everything was as planned. Our climb with Arnold as our guide and a team of 10 porters was perfect. Our accommodations before and after the climb in Arusha were perfect. Our 2 day safari John arranged for us with our guide Fedeliz was awesome. I couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend Xpats international and John.

We chose Xpats International for our 6-day Machame Route trek, and their locally owned and operated setup initially caught our attention.

From our first message with John, the owner, it was clear how professional Xpats International is. Communicating via WhatsApp, John responded quickly and thoroughly to all our questions.

Our climb was as a pair, supported by a team of 2 guides, 5 porters, and a chef. Our guides, Hardson and Andrew, had extensive knowledge of the mountain, sharing insights about the flora, rocks, and historical events throughout the trip. They closely monitored our progress to ensure we stayed on track.

The campsite setup was a pleasant surprise. We had large, spacious tents with beds and comfortable mattresses. The biggest surprise was the food. Dennis, the chef, consistently prepared outstanding meals that would have been impressive even in a restaurant. Airlood, who took care of us at the campsite, paid incredible attention to detail.

The team went above and beyond to make the trip special. If you're planning to do the hike, consider bringing snacks to share with the team from your home country. It's a great way to bond and have fun. You absolutely do not need to bring any food or snacks for yourself, as Xpats International provides more than enough high-quality food and snacks for the entire duration.

John was amazing and had everything organised for us. Looked after us from day one - including getting us back home after the climb. Food was fab. I would really recommend this tour!

John does a great job with xpats international! When we got there, he picked us up from the airport and took us to the hotel. I wasn’t feeling good, and he organized a Covid test. Unfortunately, the test was positive, which is why I decided not to climb Kilimanjaro yet. However, as soon as I told John, he reorganized with the porters and managed to come up with great alternative activities. He showed me the authentic Tanzanian way of living, and the countryside and brought me to many wondrous sights in and around Arusha (hot springs, waterfalls, Arusha national park, the tanzanite museum, Natural art gallery, a coffee farm where we made our own coffee, and an orphanage). So even though I did not climb Kilimanjaro, I had a great experience in Tanzania thanks to John and found a great friend!
So even if things go south in Tanzania, you can be sure to have someone around that keeps you great company and makes the best out of your trip!

The trip with XPATS was from the very first point of contact with John to the time I've got back home very well planned and organized! I got the contact information through a common friend and John was willing to help out at every step during the vacation as well as beforehand for planning - he even supported me during the visa process.

I've done the Kilimanjaro hike as well as a safari (Ngorongoro crater and Tarangire - really recommend doing it!!) and everything worked out well. Since I had some days left before my flight home John even supported me with trips in the Arusha area like a visit to a local Masai village.

John gave me a detailed intro and overview regarding the main points to consider for the hike (e.g. which route, medicine, equipment, preparation - food and physical etc.) even before booking with him. Once I decided he guided me through all the necessary steps to be well prepared for the trip.

Tip: If you're thinking about doing the hike...I'd include a private toilet for sure! ;)

Overall I really enjoyed working with John and would do it 100% again with XPATS!

Want to say massive thanks to John at Xpats international great company he called me one night as agreed and explained how everything goes was on phone for 45 minutes had lots of my questions answered, made me feel safe and confident going ahead with doing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Oscar was my guider he really is a expert at his job and a nice man with lots of knowledge learned me a lot about Kilimanjaro. Checked my oxygen level and heart beat every day and kept track wrote down scale of how I felt If had bad stomach, headache or Nausea etc, made shure it was safe for me to carry on.
All the food was delicious thanks to Dennis the chef even like cucumbers now cucumber soup was very tasty. Always more than enough food served three course meal for breakfast, dinner and tea time. Also snacks provided for hike everyday. Big fair play to all porters don’t know how they carry so much stuff on their heads up that mountain it really amazes me, wouldn’t like a headbutt off these people must have some power on them heads. A wash bowl of hot water every morning and once arrived next camp was really nice to freshen up. Can’t Thank the team enough couldn’t have done it without them absolutely brilliant. If anyone thinking of doing Mount kilimanjaro or Safari I’d highly recommend Xpats International what a amazing life time experience I’ll never forget. Jambo jambo!! Hakuna matata!!

I had the best time of my life climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with XPATS Internațional!! I was able to successfully reach the summit with their help and guidance! The climb was much easier than I thought but shouldn’t be underestimated nonetheless. Everithing was well organized and fantastic. From food, care, to services! I highly recommend them!!! Every body on the team is very friendly ,profesional and always there to help you.
Overall I was satisfied with the whole experience: the food was great and always warm , the tents were in great condition and spacious enough for me and my mom and the guides always gave us advice on how to dress depending on the weather.

I can’t say enough about how amazing my Kilimanjaro summit was thanks to XPATS International! First, the incredible assistance from John in preparation and planning. Not only did he spend a half hour on the phone with me helping me decide which route would be best, but he followed up with emails and messages to make sure I had everything I needed. Highlight - se sent menus and recipes of the foods I’d be eating so I knew what to expect.

The guides and porters were top notch! As a solo female hiker, I was definitely apprehensive. But they took such great care of me! They kept me entertained, made me feel safe and protected, and didn’t get frustrated when I asked them for the millionth time how to say the same words in Swahili! Camp was always comfortable and the food was amazing!

I celebrated my birthday on summit day and the whole team made it special. First, with muffins, candles and singing at wake up, a toast at summit, and a birthday cake back at the gate.

I can’t imagine a more perfect experience.

Starting with our hike to the famous Uhuru peak, he provided us with the best team that accompanied us. Hands up for Oscar, the lead guide who made it possible for us to reach the summit!
We also went in the Safari in the Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks where we saw a variety of wild african animals in their natural habitat.
Of course, our vacation could not miss Zanzibar and the trips in the surrounding areas.

John and his company Xpats International took care of all related things, from transportation, meals and accomodations. We couldn't have asked for more.
