Misleading booking process and an intimidating response to my complaint

YourRepair directs customers to log in online and “book” a repair. However, when I tried to arrange urgent help for my leaking boiler, I could not select a confirmed appointment. Instead, I had to provide availability over three working days and wait for an engineer to contact me.

In the information I read before joining, I saw no clear explanation that “booking” meant submitting preferred dates rather than securing an appointment. In my view, those are very different things.

My boiler continued leaking after we turned off the mains water supply. We were changing buckets and had no usable water for washing, cooking or cleaning. I needed urgent practical assistance.

I was told they did not operate at weekends. Yet their complaint response later suggested I could have called for help. That did not reflect the weekend availability I had been told about.

Their response also clarified that “24/7” means being able to log a claim online, and that the four-hour emergency response means an engineer calling—not attending. I found the website wording misleading: being able to submit a request at any time is not the same as receiving an urgent repair service.

I cancelled my Direct Debit because I felt they had failed to provide the emergency assistance I expected. Their response warned that the balance could enter debt recovery unless I reinstated payments or paid a termination fee equal to all remaining monthly payments. I found this intimidating, particularly while my complaint remained unresolved.

I will continue paying to avoid escalation, but that does not mean I am satisfied or accept their handling of this situation.

Before joining, ask for clear written answers about weekend availability, actual emergency attendance times, whether an online “booking” confirms an appointment, and the cost of cancelling. My experience has left me extremely disappointed.

Points to keep in mind when signing up for this service:

1: The customer is asked to go online and make the claim/book an appointment. Except, you cannot book an actual AM/PM date, you must select three dates and wait for a call. This is not made clear on their website.

2: If your boiler breaks down over the weekend, Your Repair is not available/not open for business. You must go online, and book over the three days and await a call.

3: When raising a complaint - you will be met with 'splitting hairs' language, attempts to use dialogue to minimize your concerns and, be met with threats of debt recovery for a service they offer but cannot deliver.

To be clear then, you are directed to book your appointment via their online system - except the system isn't designed to book appointments.

If you have an urgent matter - no water, leaking boiler at the weekend - there is no service.

We called British Gas who attended the Sunday. British Gas online booking - actually allows booking - Am/PM on a date of your choice - including next day.

Very easy process and efficient in every way

I was looking at options for a monthly service plan including an Annual Boiler Service. Your Repair had a contact numberer and I spoke with their representative Chris. He answered all my queries and also suggested further options regarding call out fees etc . he was very professional , friendly, helpful and knowledgeable . It was a pleasure to deal with him and sign up for a 12 month plan.

I have just signed up to this company,registration was simple and the price of cover i have is very competitive.

Dan arrived right on time and was extremely polite and respectful. He explained everything clearly without any confusing jargon. Finding reliable tradespeople can be tough, but this company and Dan have completely won us over. Fast, professional, and great value. Really love this Company!

Brandon Craske, your repair gas engineer serviced and checked the efficiency of our boiler, which was it's Annual service. He was very confident and knowledgeable, and answered my questions.

Complaints department not interested. Management don't want to hear about complaints. Only possible resolution is to complain to the Ombudsman.

Ridiculous company. Save your money and use a company who aren’t a front for a complete scam.
