Having worked with several pension providers during my career and specilaising in the area of SSAS, Whitehall are my go to SSAS provider. Their service is second to none, responding to queries from both myself and clients in a timely and efficient manner. Dedicated contacts there also build relationships with clients which is extremely important. On top of all this the fees are clear and competitive. As an adviser the companies you recommend to clients are an extension of your own offering and it's vital to get this right. Whitehall simply are the best SSAS provider in their field!

I have been recommending Whitehall from their very early days. The fact that they consistently win "best SSAS Provider" in the Moneyfacts Awards voted by financial advisers is easy to see. There are a lot of mediocre SSAS providers out there stealing a living. Thankfully, Whitehall are not!
I have set up many new SSAS's and advised on SSAS Take overs and they deliver every time.
They have managed to complete the quickest SSAS property purchase ever in 28 days where they were consequences on my client if not completed. In relation to the size of the deal, the different parties involved including a major lender then this made the likely unachievable achievable. Bravo guys!
They take a pragmatic approach and apply the most suitable solution to any financial, pension or tax planning problems.
I have dedicated contact who is amazing and goes beyond, where no problem is an issue.
They stand out from the rest by a country mile, and most importantly, they are very personable, you get through to the right person quickly and they respond promptly.
I find a lot of people and customers, particularly those that try to navigate a complex pension vehicle like a SSAS, simply do not understand the steps and complexities such as the need to obtain HMRC approval first, before simple things like a bank account can be opened and pension transfer paperwork issued. This reiterates the need for a knowledgeable independent financial advisers who will explain the steps, advise, manage expectations and implement from start to finish process. Goes to prove that paying a small fee for this type of advice is invaluable and with Whitehall in partnership, win win!

Before I had paid them, they seemed responsive but as soon as I had paid them – £500 SSAS set-up fee and £600 for a year up front – the tone changed and it was impossible to get a response from them or any assistance on the set up of my SSAS. My phone calls and voicemails were never answered and emails either went unanswered or were responded to a full 2 weeks later (I later found out the company has a policy of responding to emails within 14days, a policy I can see they strictly adhere to – of the emails that were replied to, these came in at exactly 14days!). Tasks they said they would do were either left incomplete, or were completed in contradiction to my written instruction. More than one incomplete task was blamed on lost post. After 2.5 months of not being any further along in the set-up of my SSAS, I decided to pull the plug and go to another provider. Even though the SSAS had never been fully set up, Whitehall dragged their feet on sending over the paperwork and I waited a further 2 months for them to complete the process. Despite the complete lack of customer service or care and despite the fact that the SSAS was never fully set up, Whitehall refused to refund even the year upfront costs I had paid them. In spite of all this, I am relieved to have found out early on that they have no regard for their customers so that I am not stuck with them! My new provider is both responsive and efficient – what a contrast!
