The Spicery Arvostelua 

The idea, and part of the execution - the spices themselves - are very good. We just used the "Singapore Date Night" pack and were really pleased.

However the physical disconnect of the ingredients in small text on one side of the leaflet, and the recipe steps on the other is a pain. As an Autistic person I find the way the recipe steps are set out is not easy to follow either.

The "Singapore" pack was really poor for this, one step is for the main, the next for the starter etc. Part of the idea of "Date Night" is making the meal together? We end up photocopying the recipe steps, cutting them up, and pasting them on to separate sheets for starter and main.

In early June, I purchased a gift voucher for someone living in the EU. At the time of purchase, shipping to the EU was available, so there was absolutely no reason to believe the voucher would become unusable just a few weeks later.

On 1 July, The Spicery quietly stopped shipping to EU customers because of changes to import charges. While I understand that businesses sometimes have to adapt to new regulations, what I cannot accept is how existing customers were treated.

No email was sent to voucher purchasers. No advance warning was given. No transition period was offered. There was no suggestion to redeem the voucher before the change took effect and no information that recent purchases would soon become impossible to use. I only discovered the issue after trying to redeem the gift.

Instead of honoring vouchers purchased before the policy change, their solution was essentially: "Have your order sent to a UK address." That is not a realistic solution for many international customers and certainly wasn't part of the deal when the voucher was purchased.

Only after I filed a formal complaint did they agree to refund the voucher. While I appreciate that they eventually refunded the money, this should never have required an angry complaint in the first place. The refund simply corrected a problem that their own lack of communication created.

The most disappointing part is not that they changed their shipping policy—it's that they accepted customers' money, failed to inform recent voucher purchasers about a change that would make their gifts unusable, and left customers to discover the problem themselves.

Good customer service isn't tested when everything goes smoothly. It's tested when circumstances change. Unfortunately, The Spicery failed that test completely.

Because of this experience, I have lost confidence in the company and would not recommend purchasing gift vouchers from them, especially if the recipient lives outside the UK.

I've been a Spicery fanatic for years now, loved their World Explorer subscription and have all of the Legend kits and books. Its a real game changer in the kitchen and the quality of the spices and the recipes is excellent. Also introduced me to some wonderful perhaps less well known culinary spheres such as Georgian and Turkish food. If I've had queries or just wanted advice, the staff have always responded super quick.

The spices are prepared and blended to perfection. The concept of using 4 blends for an abundance of different meals is genius. The recipes are delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. In addition to all this The Spicery genuinely want to know what you have been cooking and how much you enjoyed to food and the cooking experience.
This company turned my cooking abilities from Zero to Hero pretty much overnight. They also taught me to celebrate the food we make and eat. I can't recommend them enough.

This marvelous concept makes preparing and cooking spicy dishes a cinch for anyone, with a result that is far better and cheaper than a takeaway. That in itself warrants 5 stars, but the attention to detail is perfection. You are not just receiving some spices you are the recipient of a beautifully prepared package that carries with it a wealth of experience gained from world travel. My first order arrived rather bashed about by the mail delivery companies, which was unfortunate. Jess at the Spicery handled this with an equal measure of the professionalism that is delivered in this product. Why can't all companies be as good as this.

We are spicery officiandos or should just say legends. The recipes are simple and delicious, we started with spicery because it was easy to make delicious and easy dinners for our family (from birth to now 3and 5) we love the option to switch up ingredients if you have the time or ingredients. Only downside, if you can call it that, is that most take aways don't live up to the spicery dishes. We have all the legend kits and eat at least 1-2 amazing spicery dinners a week. Thanks team

I have been buying spices from The Spicery for a few years now and have tried a wide variety of products and recipes always with very tasty results. Always have an easy experience on the website and no issues with delivery or customer service, would highly recommend. Everyone loves the curries, chilli, biscuits and cakes I make using The Spicery methods and products.

Updated - good to get a reply. There is an old credit card on my wife’s account and we could not remove it. It created admin issues. I have now discovered following feedback the mobile and desk top options are different. Use the desktop to access and amend payment info. Updated from 1 to 3 stars.

Excellent worldwide choices, and easy to swap if you don't like the option that month. Always delivered on time. Very easy to follow recipes. Great additional information with the recipe about the origin. Great alternative present idea.

Having been recommended by a friend to subscribe to The Spicery, and loving curries as we do, we joined up and quickly received our very impressive pack with an amazing recipe book and spices. It was so nicely packaged, it was like receiving a gift, which made it even more enjoyable to open! So far we have only tried one of the curry meals and it was absolutely delicious, but we are keen to try more once the weather cools a little! The after-sales service is also second to none - I realised after receipt that our friend could have received a discount for recommending us. I contacted The Spicery and received a lovely message back from Kayleigh who was extremely helpful and put this through retrospectively. Can't rate this company highly enough, thank you The Spicery.

We got a curry subscription for Christmas and we love it so much we ordered three of the spice boxes with recipe books. We look forward to our box arriving each month - 100% recommend!

I ordered these through Vodafone rewards and I am so glad I did.
These kits are amazing and very tasty my local Indian takeaway is going to lose a lot of buisness now.
I would recommend if you like curries give them a try.

Trying to go meat free once or twice a week so ordered the vegetarian curry legend kit plus a couple of refills of spice blends as already have the original curry legend kit.
Found a 10% discount code and though job done.
Then realised I’d just ordered a second set of the tins the spice blends come in which is obviously unnecessary.
Emailed last night asking if something could be done.
Got a reply from Kayleigh at The Spicery this morning.
She’s pulled my order from dispatch, provided the vegetarian curry legend book as a solo product and provided the 4 blends from the kit as refills in the compostable bags as well as the 2 refills I’d ordered.
Bit cheaper that way, and because I’ve now ordered more than 4 refills I get a further discount which she’s put back onto my PayPal.

The recipes are brilliant and looking forwards to the veggie curries, but that customer service will be what definitely brings me back.

I was never the biggest fan of curries, and it was my wife who insisted we try the Curry Legends kit. I eventually gave in and can't believe I waited so long. The recipes are an absolute breeze to follow, but the results are nothing short of sensational.

I've genuinely had curries in restaurants that aren't as good as those made using the blends in the kit. If the price of the Legends kits sounds expensive, they're really not. We got about 12 curries out of the first set of blends, and it's only just over a tenner for a full set of refills. Even with the need to add meat and onion, the cost of each curry is ridiculously cheap for the quality you get.

If you like curries but can't be bothered with the effort often needed to make one, the Curry Legends kit is exactly what you need

You won't just have a main course but a mix of accompaniments (maybe even a starter or dessert) that raises this from a recipe to an utterly delicious treat menu. I like my local takeaway and restaurants a lot but this is on an entirely different level. And it does not matter if you have the curry, world explorer or meat free subscription they are all equally amazing. I believe anybody who likes good food who likes trying new things will truly appreciate this. My family of four certainly does! Not to forget it is cheaper and better than a Takeaway! I was given a 3 month subscription as a present and was so impressed with the product that I subscribed to a further 6 months. Unfortunately I messed up the process resulting in paying more than I should of. After a phone call to the team it was sorted and a refund given within an hour, excellent service and I can recommend the meals for two subscription which gives you the spices for two different dishes and all the instructions to make them. Haven't had a duff one yet, would definitely recommend The Spicery.
