My mum took out a lifetime morgage with these people for £19.700 and twenty years later we asked for a settlement figure and it was over £92,000 with daily interest going on until we pay it.. surely this is extortionate and wrong...they should be shut down. I will never ever get anything with this company again. BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT

I have been trying to pay off my late mothers Lifetime Mortgage. It has been a nightmare. This has been going on for over a month now, sending evidence of where our money has come from and what we send is never enough. The RETEAM seem to be incompetent and inexperienced.

If this is not remedied very soon, I will take it up with the Financial Ombudsman and go public with this. It is bad enough that my vulnerable mother took this Lifetime Mortgage up in the first place and I am disgusted with Aviva so far.

My mother took out an equity release mortgage and I have to say the interest was reasonable. However, when she passed they started getting heavy - adding daily interest charges. I came to pay the money back and on the transfer day told me due to a systems failure they couldn't tell me the exact amount and the person I was dealing with went AWOL. I managed to cause enough chaos to pay the debt down and now they are refusing to give me a receipt for the money I paid or acknowledge that the debt has been discharged. They told me that I have to get a solicitors letter for them to sign. Really - you get a receipt for a newspaper never mind over 30K. They are evasive - seem to be having constant system blackouts and I'm wondering if they are going to later try and claim the debt was not paid and hit me up with a huge interest bill. I don't trust them and I'm paying for that solicitor. STAY AWAY.

Aviva you should be shut down. How can a company get away with robbing and misleading people in your scams!!! There's no way you are completely open with what people are getting themselves into!! Other companies have been shut down for less. Plus they have been told to pay back the high amounts they have charged. Mainly though a solicitor. How can you people sleep at night. Interest at £22 A Day!!!!!! A campaign stopping this needs to happen ASAP! I'll also inform the government to start looking into this.

Aviva are fine with you being a customer, but once you're with them they treat you with utter contempt. Appalling customer service.

Due to the poor service received from our conveyancer, I frequently rang AVIVA for information. Our conveyancer often said that he had sent information to Evershed, when in fact he hadn’t.
I spoke to a number of people at AVIVA, all of them were very helpful. One person in particular was exceptional, Gillian Patten. Our special thanks go to her.
Since moving in to our new home we are even more positive what a good thing it was to have Equity Release.

The biggest problem for me was always dealing with the advisor on her mobile phone. I am not keen on mobiles for important discussions especially when it is unkonown where the person is and if you have privacy. The signal often went 'in a tunnel' and when you are dealing with such an important matter that needs so much concideration it means asking questions of someone who may not hear correctly and certainly from my point of view hearing replies was at its best difficult. Not a very proffessional situation.
I was on a land line and whilst that might not be the way of things in this day and age I think land lines should be used on such matters as this.

Martyn our advisor was friendly, helpful, very knowledgeable and did not try to persuade us or push us to make a decision. He just gave us all the information we required and left us to make our own decision on whether to proceed.

An excellent service all our questions were answered in detail without any pressure from the agent. We decided to go ahead with equity release as this was right for us.

Earlier this year through all the madness of the "Covid" pandemic, I decided to take out Equity Release on my property. I did some research and looked on the "Equity Release Council" website for a recommended specialist in this area. They recommended an Equity Release specialist working for "Responsible Equity Release" named Kevin Williams. I cannot recommend Kevin highly enough, as he was extremely professional and helpful. He gave me excellent advice and managed the whole process. He was never pushy and dealt with the whole procedure extremely professionally. In these difficult times, it is a pleasure to be able to give a positive review of a process that can be somewhat a minefield if not properly managed.

The whole process was seamless from beginning to end. The Financial Advisor Keith Jones was extremely professional and gave good, sound advice and there was no fee to the customer saving me around £1600. Aviva's rates were very competitive.
The whole process from start to completion was only around 4/5 weeks.
No hard sell, no nasty surprises. What I was told, was what I got. I did a LOT of research beforehand so I was fairly clued up. I would suggest people get 2 or 3 quotes and make an informed decision.
