SwitchBot has managed to automate one thing perfectly: disappointment.

I’ve invested in their curtain bots, button pushers, remotes—you name it. My home should look like a scene from Black Mirror, but instead it feels like a middle-school science fair project that ran out of batteries halfway through.

Speaking of batteries—my last two remotes arrived stone-cold dead. No charge, no power, not even the courtesy of a blinking light. Imagine buying a flashlight that proudly ships without the bulb. That’s SwitchBot.

When I reached out for help, I was connected to someone calling himself “Jonathan.” Talking to Jonathan was like debating a goldfish: pleasant enough, but you walk away realizing absolutely nothing was accomplished. The only solution he seemed capable of offering was wasting more of my time.

What SwitchBot doesn’t seem to grasp is that “smart home” means the devices should be smart, not the customers required to fix them. At this point, my actual light switches and curtains are more intelligent than the company’s entire support department.

Save yourself the headache. Your hands, a $2 battery, and gravity will outperform SwitchBot every single time—without Jonathan’s help.

I needed information on one of their floor-cleaning robots. I tried contacting the chatbot (it just says it doesn't understand every question), on Instagram, via email... It seems like a ghost company. No one has responded in over two weeks. If that's the case, stay away.

Avevo acquistato una serratura ad agosto 2024 ho avuto un problema riguardante il tasto di apertura contattato assistenza per il problema mi hanno fornito varie istruzioni per risolvere ma non c’è stato verso di sistemarla dopo aggiornamento ho mandato 2 video del problema ora mi stanno mandando una nuova azienda serie grazie ancora per il supporto

Bought the k10+pro combi and was blow away by how good it was.

Also I ordered it on a deal and then 2 days later it was on a better deal so I emailed the company and they refunded the difference between the two deal prices which was amazing as well. No fuss no arguments.

Switchbot calls there remote controller “universal remote,” but it is neither universal nor practical: constant bugs, mandatory hub, no automation, and terrible ergonomics. Just a marketing gimmick to avoid.

Using these products is a constant source of frustration. First, the remote does not work without a hub, which forces an additional purchase and makes the product far more expensive than expected. Even with the hub, the system feels unfinished. Bluetooth devices are poorly supported: some buttons stop working, and devices cannot be included in automation routines. This makes the smart home experience extremely limited and disappointing.

The remote freezes frequently, and its ergonomics are disastrous. The ABCD programmable buttons all display the same icon, with no text to distinguish them, making them confusing and impractical. Worse still, it is impossible to assign a full activity to a single button, such as turning on the TV and the Apple TV at once. Instead, you must manually select one device, perform the action, then repeat with another. This is anything but "universal."

Finally, customer support provides no real solutions. They endlessly redirect users to R&D, which clearly never tests these products in real-life conditions.

Switchbot ultimately sells a remote that is limited, unstable, and misleading. Unlike other brands that deliver true universal remotes with macros and real usability, this one is just a poorly designed gadget disguised as a solution.

After my review, I was contacted by the SwitchBot support team. They first sent me a replacement device, but since it had the same issue, they then offered me a refund for my purchase.
In addition, my feedback was forwarded to the research and development team.
I really appreciate this response and find it very positive.

I now hope that SwitchBot will soon release a firmware update that reliably fixes the existing issues and also takes customer needs into account. That would demonstrate the company’s genuine commitment to improving its products.

Era da tempo che pensavo di automatizzare la serratura d’ingresso di casa, soprattutto dopo aver digitalizzato e remotizzato praticamente tutto ciò che solitamente riempiva le tasche e le borse: carte di credito, documenti d’identità, tessera sanitaria, chiave del portone e abbonamento ai mezzi pubblici. A quel punto, le uniche “fisicità” rimaste erano le chiavi di casa.

Non potendo sostituire l’attuale porta con una dotata di serratura automatizzata integrata, ho cercato tra i modelli disponibili sul mercato. Il "Lock Ultra Touch Combo Nero" mi è sembrato quello con il miglior equilibrio tra funzionalità, affidabilità e sicurezza, considerando che un eventuale malfunzionamento potrebbe significare non riuscire ad accedere alla propria abitazione.

La confezione include tutto il necessario per gestire (quasi) ogni tipo di serratura dall’interno, dall’esterno e da remoto. Manca, come ormai consuetudine, il caricabatterie, ma siccome la batteria si ricarica tramite il classico cavo USB/USB-C, è possibile utilizzare tranquillamente quello dello smartphone.

L’installazione è spiegata abbastanza bene tramite dei video (senza audio, solo immagini), ma consiglio vivamente di scaricare anche il manuale in italiano dal sito del produttore, molto più chiaro e dettagliato. Per l'installazione della parte "fisica" serve una minima manualità, soprattutto per adattamenti minori: nel mio caso, ad esempio, ho dovuto limare leggermente l’impugnatura della chiave, che risultava troppo spessa per l’alloggiamento dello smart lock.

La parte più complessa dell’installazione è quella informatica: bisogna installare l’app di SwitchBot (se non già presente), aggiungere lo smart lock, la tastiera e l’Hub, e infine collegare tutti i dispositivi tra loro. Fortunatamente, le istruzioni guidano passo passo l’utente, e anche l’app è molto intuitiva.

La vera comodità è però rappresentata dal tastierino numerico esterno con sensore per le impronte digitali: appoggiare il dito ed entrare in casa senza usare app o codici è davvero impagabile.
Per chi, come me, ama smanettare con la tecnologia, la gestione delle funzioni avanzate offre numerose possibilità di personalizzazione, rendendo l’esperienza d’uso ancora più completa.

Un’ultima nota importante: se la serratura della vostra porta non permette di avere una chiave inserita contemporaneamente sia all’interno che all’esterno, tenete presente che lo smart lock prevede la chiave sempre inserita nella parte interna. Questo significa che non sarà più possibile aprire la porta dall’esterno con la chiave fisica.

In sintesi, si tratta di un prodotto ben progettato, versatile e ricco di funzionalità. Una soluzione ideale per chi desidera liberarsi delle chiavi fisiche senza compromettere la sicurezza dell’ingresso in casa, aggiungendo ottima integrazione domotica e un livello di comodità che, una volta provato, diventa difficile da abbandonare.

I have used various Switchbot devices and their app since there Kickstarter in 2020. All, such as curtain, solar panel, meter, hub have worked as expected with full integration with Alexa. I have used the meter devices for room, outdoor, fridge, freezer and vivarium temperature management and can recommend their devices

Switchbot is easy to make contact with, always very friendly. Products are from high quality!

Ordered an S10 in July when it showed that it would dispatch in 5-7 days, then 5-7 days later, I was told my order was a 'pre-order' but it's not. Then I was told that due to shipping issues that it would be delivered by end of September. Come September, they are now saying mid-October... no prizes for guessing what they'll say in October....

I’m extremely disappointed with SwitchBot. I returned products over a month ago (worth more than £400), and despite countless promises from their support team, I still haven’t received my refund. Every time I contact them, I get vague reassurances and false deadlines that come and go without any action.

They’ve wasted my time, broken trust, and caused huge frustration. I’ve now had no choice but to escalate this to the ombudsman to try and get my money back.

This review is simply a warning to anyone considering buying from SwitchBot: if something goes wrong, don’t expect a straightforward resolution. They’ll string you along and leave you out of pocket.

Update 13/10/2025:

After waiting over two months for my bank and SwitchBot to resolve a chargeback issue, I was told by SwitchBot to cancel the chargeback so they could process my refund directly. I followed their instructions, but the refund has still not been received. There’s been zero communication or update from SwitchBot since.

This level of customer service is unacceptable. I’ll continue updating this review until the refund is issued.

This is a review about Blind tilt. I have had four of them for about two years and they have performed absolutely fantastic. No connection issues, they always perform automations I have set up and I have only charged them once. The included solar panels have kept them charged even in the harsh winter conditions of Finland where the sun might not shine for weeks or atleast not enough for charging. Installation was very easy and they have stayed in place only with the included adhesives, no screws needed. Thanks for the awesome product!

Bought a co2 monitor and it works very well

Switchbot is a great tech company that makes us feel secure at home it the majority of gadgets.

Never had any problem with them and shipping products or easy and breezy.

Definitely something to buy from again.

I’ve been using a few different SwitchBot products over the last few months, and they’ve honestly made day‑to‑day life a lot easier. I started with the SwitchBot Mini Smart Remote back in April and now have three of them set up — one in our main bedroom, one in my daughter’s bedroom, and another in the front room. They’ve been brilliant for controlling our air conditioning units, saving us from constantly reaching for the original remotes.
In June, I added the SwitchBot Water Leak Detector with the sensor cable and their 2K Pan & Tilt Indoor Camera. The camera sits in our front room and I’ve been really impressed with the picture quality , it’s sharp, clear, and perfect for keeping an eye on things when we’re out. The water detector is tucked under the kitchen sink, and while we haven’t had any leaks (thankfully), it gives a lot of peace of mind knowing it’s there as an early warning if anything does go wrong.
Overall, everything has worked reliably so far and the setup was straightforward. Between the remotes, camera, and leak detector, I feel like these have been really solid additions to the house.

ho comprato in preordine il ventilatore a luglio 2025, perché mi interessava la parte smart ma soprattutto la versatilità di utilizzo con la batteria... sono poco meno di 2 mesi che lo utilizzo e mi sto trovando benissimo, io lo uso meno come rimescolatore d aria e più come ventilatore, ed ha una potenza piu che sufficiente con una bassissima rumorosità (che inizia a sentirsi solo al massimo della potenza ma comunque non è di disturbo) la batteria dura molto e il design è bello.. io ho qualche hub mini sparso per la casa e non ho difficoltà a utilizzarlo tramite comandi vocali di alexa

The motion sensor is an excellent product, very durable build quality and consistent in its usage. I advice anyone who uses switchbot products to install at least 1 hub, this allows you to not only use the product further away from your router but also allows interconnectivity to home assistent / homey.
The motion sensor can be set to different sensivity levels, which works well. The setup interface is very user friendly.
I have been using this motion sensor for over a year now and it has not failed once.
