Bought a sink plunger for £15 then found exactly the same product was available at B & M for £3! Daylight robbery! Got a refund and went and bought the B & M version!

Staff happy to cancel £200 order rather than try to help me with a delivery am time slot. It goes to show the staff really don’t care about customer service or satisfaction, they are happy to lose a £200 order just like that! if it was taken out of their wages , I’m sure they would try harder to keep that sale and go that bit further. . Leeds Beeston store Disgusting customer service. My car broke down behind 1 of the trucks I called In & asked if the truck could be moved forward as my back wheel was on double yellow lines & was told it could not as nobody was around to move it & that all the drivers had gone home there was nothing they could do. This was at 4 pm on Friday. I went back to my car to find a selco truck driver going past who I flagged down & asked if someone could move it. He said he would ask the driver to move it. He did so within a few mins. The lady at the counter clearly lied to me. I usually buy stuff from selco not anymore. Disgusting attitude from the lady on the counter.

Made a telephone order, customer services confirmed the order, straightforward payment method.
The items were delivered the following day and the driver placed the items where they were required
The prices were very competitive

Selco Salford, tremendous in its customer service. I went there on a Sunday and they weren’t many staff in the building but they were helpful and they dealt with my order so efficiently and I cannot thank enough a lady called Wendy she was tremendous plus all the others. It’s good to see some company, which still have this kind of service.

They appear to make sustitutions, without notice when sending deliveries ordered online/by app. Either that or its sloppy picking at the store.
Recently received wrong plaster beads and architrave (similar but different to those already being used), accepted at delivery by householder. Fortunately I could use the architrave on another job and sold the beads on.
Just be careful to check every item, don't just count them - this isn't the first time its happened on one of my orders.

Excellent customer service from Jessee at Selco Croydon. He was the salesperson who helped me with my acoustic panels, which arrived much earlier than expected and were delivered efficiently. Unfortunately, one of the panels was faulty, but Jessee handled it immediately — he contacted the manufacturer straight away and arranged a replacement to be delivered quickly and without any hassle. A genuinely smooth and professional experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Too expensive on many items

I asked for help with several plumbing items I intended to purchase, but a long-standing member of staff at the Honeypot Lane store told me that customers are expected to find everything themselves. I was informed that even if I provided item names on a list, it was not his responsibility to help locate them on the shelves. Despite asking politely for assistance, his response was dismissive and confrontational, as though I had done something wrong simply by requesting help. It appeared that providing advice was considered too much effort at that time of the morning.

This interaction took place on 19 December 2025 at approximately 07:35. The staff member was noticeably unhelpful from the outset and stated, “This is my name—make a complaint if you want.”

What was particularly concerning is that, as a long-serving employee, his behaviour appeared to carry no consequences, suggesting that management either tolerates or overlooks such conduct.

I both work for a company and own a business that regularly spends four-figure amounts at this store, and I expect to be treated professionally. This experience stands in stark contrast to the service received at the Imperial Park and West Gate branches, where staff have consistently assisted with similar requests without issue or unnecessary confrontation.

What was most concerning was not just the dismissive attitude of one senior staff member, but the apparent culture that allows such behaviour to go unchecked. Being told to “make a complaint if you want” suggests a lack of accountability and confidence that management will not act. This points to a management issue rather than an isolated incident. Other members of staff were helpful and professional, which only highlights the inconsistency in service standards and the failure of management to enforce them.

Couldn’t make an account as their setup would not accept any password including proper autogenerated ones via Google or Apple . Wasted a lot of my time.

As Selco are genuinely trying to fix the problem I have now changed the rating to 5*.
