We ordered a Pith&Stem Drop light Single in the first week of December, and we received our drop top only in February. I only take out a star from the rating because I had to follow up at least 6 times to finally get them to despatch the package. First it was delay due to change in Factory, and then absolute chaos between them and DHL. But it required me to chase them every single time to get things done.

With that rant out of the way, the desk itself is so well built! The packaging was meticulously labeled and made it really easy to follow the instructions with such careful packaging. The finished product looks amazing, and as others have noted well worth the money you spend on it.

The worst customer service ever.
When the desk arrived it was damaged and did not fit together properly. Emailed to complain and requested advice regarding replacement. We got no reply so contacted by phone, I was informed someone would get back to me. No call came so again we had to contact the office who then looked at the pictures we sent of the faults and was given return labels and date of our desk to be collected. No information on when our replacement would be delivered.
4 weeks later we still had no call or email for a replacement so again we had to call the office and was told our replacement desk would be sent to DHL within the next day or two. I received a tracking number for DHL but 1 week later no update on shipment.
I called the office again to find out where our desk was to be told they're sorry and we should have received the desk, they will contact me later that day with an update.
No call came and we are still waiting for our desk.
I'm shocked how bad the customer service is in this company and would definitely not recommend them to anyone.
I just hope when our desk arrives it is not damaged like the previous one.

I wanted to share my experience so far....

Order my desk in November 2023 and received late December 2023. A part (the main desk) was damage and reported this to Pith & Stem late December 2023 - only to discover there where closed for the Christmas. Sent an email and followed up with a call early January 2024.

After 4 weeks of following up with them, I still don't have a replacement part for my damaged desk. Poor customer service as their phone line is now suggesting to leave a message...but there is not space on the answerphone. I guess it will be another email.

Will keep you posted on developments.

UPDATE: as of the 3rd February 2024 my desk is complete and I love it!

This desk is my favourite thing about working from home because it means I can sit in my kitchen with the doors to the garden open. It then folds away and becomes a really nice collage of my family. I had to work to convince my wife that the expense was worth it, but she was instantly won over when it arrived. Great design, great quality and a thing of beauty which has enhanced my life. I wish them every success and have just one piece of advice to anyone not sure whether to order - buy it now because it will help you work harder and earn the money back in no time.

I ordered a DropTop Duo in November, received and assembled it in December, and want to share my experience so far.

The cable holes are not suitable for a real-world scenario where, for example, there are plugs that are too large to fit. In fact I had to fix the wires to avoid the holes resulting in an ugly mess of wires. Perhaps a 2cm larger hole for the cables would have been enough.

The space under the monitor is where I had to put a power strip. Unfortunately the available height is too low. 2cm more might have been enough for my MacBook charger.

The monitor mounts didn't work because there wasn't enough space left for the monitor to close the desk, so I had to replace the monitor mounts with a different brand, resulting in a more expensive setup. Another approach you could have used was to simply increase the depth of the desk by 2cm. That's it.

I could have got a better product with a better look by calling a local craftsman.
I really will not recommend this product to anyone I know.

Definitely a nice idea and well advertised on your website but not well thought, overpriced and unable to fulfill the main function it was made for.

Got my Droptop desk 4 months ago and it’s brilliant. Absolutely love the fact that I have my office in the kitchen and no one would know.
The desk is spacious and the integrated dock and monitors look very smart with all wires hidden away.
If I was to be picky and ask for one change it would be to have somewhere to store my laptop within it - I use the space behind the monitors for the keyboard.

Really enjoying my Droptops. Simon has been super helpful in arranging the order and collection. Instructions are easy to follow and the unit well built, practical and beautiful.

As a creative who lives in a very small space, the DropTop desk has been a lifesaver! The sleek, minimalist design keeps me motivated and inspired to work. When we have guests stay in our spare bedroom/office, we just fold up the desk and it's a huge space saver. Thank you for making a quality product and providing amazing customer service!

The desks are much better than what we expected, we ordered one single droptop light and one duo light. They are perfect, we have much more space in our living room now. The finishing is very good, excellent quality!

I bought two DropTop Lights earlier this year. As a product, they are incredibly well made and sturdy. The Light version is self assembly but, for an experienced veteran of Ikea, this held no challenges.

The first desk was built and mounted very securely to the wall. DropTop's video guides made that straightforward. No problems.

The second was built easily and here, I made a minor error. When I was trying it against the wall, I hooked it but not in the right place. I opened the desk and to my horror, it fell off the wall. So be careful to follow the instructions and to make sure that you have mounted the desk correctly.

Now, that said, the desk dropped maybe a metre onto a fairly solid floor. It survived with minor damage to the desktop and to one part of the back. I remounted it (properly) and, with the desk open, you could not tell. Very strong and sturdy - I may have mentioned this before.

However, after living with it for a day or so, I decided that I wanted my new desk to be right and not to have a crack in a couple of bits, so I contacted Pith and Stem to source the two replacement parts.

They could not have been more helpful and I using the diagram that accompanies the desk to identify the specific parts needed I placed an order. When trying to pay for the parts, I was informed that as a good customer, they were being supplied at no cost. Massive kudos to Pith and Stem for amazing (and generous - I broke the bits, they were not faulty) customer service.

Would I recommend them - absolutely. They are not the cheapest on the market but they are well worth the money.

My droptop desk is a complete game changer! The most innovative product in years. I have my guest room back, while still having a great workspace.

Although delivery was delayed, they kept me informed along the way. The desk itself is amazing quality and does exactly what it says in the tin. Beautifully made and looks fantastic.

I needed a desk to work from home in our kitchen, but wanted to be able to shut work away in the evenings and weekend. I was struggling to find a solution until I can across pith and stem. And it works perfectly for our needs, hardly noticeable when folded away, a clean and smart solution.
Delivery took a while but that wasn’t unexpected as it was communicated from the start, so not a problem.

I love my drop top!!! I live in a small apartment in NYC, and the Drop top light (the one with two monitors) has made my bedroom both a sanctuary and a full office. I'm in investment banking, so Im expected to work all hours. This allows me to go utilize the space in my room in a way I could not with a normal desk. Also, it's nice to not have to stare at your workspace from your desk-- i can fold my desk away and put it down later when im ready to work again. It creates a nice work life balance. I was initially a bit skeptical about buying the desk given the price, but I cannot imagine my life without it. Both my sister and I (we live together) have one, and we absolutely love it. It's also surprisingly really sturdy (I put my feet up as I do work all the time and lean on it a lot). Def buy it if you have a small space and need a desk!!

I've had my table for 5 months now, and it's been absolutely fantastic! I'd definitely suggest it to anyone dealing with limited space at home. My setup with two monitors is a real game-changer. What I particularly enjoy is the convenience of being able to close the desk when I'm done and just relax in the evening.

These desks are amazing! I get a full desk experience with dual monitors all in a tiny space I can fold up in our guest room for when we have folks staying with us. The installation is pretty simple and it feels very secure on the wall. Best of all, it looks very nice either in an open or "put away" position. If you've been looking for a great space saving desk, do yourself a favor and go directly for this desk.

Absolutely love my Drop Top desk! I work from home and it allows me to use a small corner of my bedroom as my home office. When not in use, I can close it up and reuse the space as needed. It really is an excellent product and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a great home office solution.
