Very disappointed with the quality control standards here. I bought a greeting card for $7.99 (a item originally priced at £2.40 overseas), only to open it and find the envelope glue stuck together and damaged, and the middle fold of the card torn. I kept and used the card because I needed it immediately, but selling damaged products on the shelf at full price shows a frustrating lack of care for local shoppers. Retailers in NZ need to hold themselves to higher standards instead of taking advantage of the fact that most people won't bother to complain. Check card envelopes carefully before buying from their rack

Useless! Their delivery partner lets them down big time! Waiting over 2 hours for an express delivery is ridiculous! Then having to take even more time afterwards to request a refund on the items that were ruined. I’ll never use this service again.

I wanted to take the time to say how wonderful the staff are at New World Wigram, CHRISTCHURH. My husband and I have always received great service, and the staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and willing to go out of their way to assist us.

A special mention to Jo, who is always smiling and friendly at the self-checkouts, and Nehu at the checkouts is also incredibly kind and always happy to go the extra mile to help with anything we need.

We’ve honestly never had any problems with the staff or the service. We’re often quick to criticise when something goes wrong, so I think it’s equally important to take the time to acknowledge when things are done really well.

To the owners and management at New World Wigram, you have a great team, and it shows. Keep up the great work.

I’m writing to make a complaint about something my three children and I witnessed when we came into your store a few days ago... We saw a tall, skinny blonde boy behaving inappropriately around the bananas and touching them in a strange way while his friends were laughing and watching him. As a mum, I was really uncomfortable seeing this, especially with my three children standing there and watching it happen. I would appreciate it if the matter could be looked into.

Prices change within a day, and the App now shows the *current* price of the items in your 'Previous orders' section, instead of the quantity and price you actually bought and paid *on the day*. I bought 1.1kg of Chicken breast for $11.00 at 9.99/kg, checked the app the next day, and it told me I bought 750g that day instead of 1.1kg, and the current price when I checked was $14.99/kg, so it was gaslighting me about how much I bought when I had the pack right in front of me to see it was a lie.

I turned up to our local New World in Papatoetoe and couldn't find a decent trolley as they all had square wheels. We carried on inside to find a young guy throwing tomatoes into a box ready for sale and dead bokchoy. That and the lack choice and we will not be returning anytime soon!!

Club Card+ is my personal nightmare. An absurdly long password 12 characters no less (as someone who has worked with IT security this is not necessary). Then the app logs you out and it fails to scan properly or simply refuses to work. Want an actual card, wait up to 4 weeks!

Worse still the majority of discounts are linked to the thing rather than just being straight discounts. I'm so done with you New World. Now hate walking in the door and increasingly I rarely do.

I ordered my Club+ card on the 23rd May. It still hasn't arrived as of 5th July. I have rung the Customer Service team four times. They don't answer but a recorded message says leave your name and they'll give you a call back. The call back doesn't come for days and when it finally does come you are not expecting it and if you don't happen to be near your phone they leave a message saying sorry they missed you and please call them back. When you call them back the same process happens again so you are right back at square one. At the very least, there should be an option to hold on the phone till they answer but there is no option for this - only for the call back. Not having the card is becoming a problem at the checkout.

Club plus money didn't transfer, I've been trying to call for a week strait, the phone line gets my number wrong,

New World New Plymouth staff are so lovely but special mention about Jaya who was just so lovely and helpful. Shes a real asset to your company.

This is for New World in Waitara, in 2025 I confronted a local cop in plain clothes, Kirk Sanger about him and his mates trespassing and harassing me at my home, also about him watching his cop mate Peter Lawn, cut off my breathing using an illegal move and allowing him to say racist things to me. Kirk Sanger got his other cop mate to charge me with disorderly behaviour. One of the shop owners Sharon made a false written statement to support this charge, she said she viewed the camera footage and saw me harassing the victim. That's not harassment at all. Come to the hearing, I'm self-represented and Sharon disappeared before I could question her. (I wonder why that was). The court dismissed this charge and Kirk Sanger admitted in the hearing that he is close friends with Sharon and her husband. Since 2022, Kirk Sanger has been harassing me at my home, sending his cop mates to trespass. He admitted in the hearing that he knows there are no trespassing signs on my front gate. This is who the owners are friends with. They're no better than the company they keep. Our community doesn't need people like this.

Online and delivery orders are so bad from here located in chrsitchurch and groceries coming from St Martins. Missing around 3 bags full of expensive groceries. My partner and I have tried all day to chase the missing groceries up and no one from customer service is actually helping. Excuses are being made about not being able to get hold of delivery drivers and the team at st Martin's new world. For a large supermarket this is ridiculous and unbelievable. Worst customer service of my life.

New world employe at lotto check out at 6:30pm Wednesday 29th April.
Tried to buy my Wednesday and Saturday lotto as I always do when I was told halfway through my lotto purchase by the Indian lady at the lotto check out that I could no longer buy Saturdays lotto before or on Wednesday and that I couldn't cancel my lotto transaction essentially being held to ransom. Not happy would love to know what this womans name is, being lied to by staff in charge of selling the lotto then being extorted by them because they fked up or can't manage there job properly is completely unacceptable.

Always tidy, neat, and very well stocked. Every time I visit, I find something I need on special, which is a great bonus. It’s definitely worth having your loyalty card with you—but if you forget, no stress, the team can easily find your account using your registered phone number and still apply the discounts.

This is my favourite supermarket—I always get exactly what I need. What really stands out is the service: the team packs your groceries with care and always greets you with a genuine smile. You can truly feel the positive atmosphere—happy employees, happy customers, and great management behind it all.

I like New World. Bright and clean shops. On the smaller side they have limited product ranges but are excellent for the mid-week top up. Well turned out staff but they are seldom trained about how to pack groceries. Items that can be crushed and broken under other heavy items and the bags are often too heavy to easily lift or carry as they hand back empty bags.

Popped into Pt Chev New World, & bought some potato salad for dinner tonight. It was bloody awful.
The potatoes used were the wrong type of potato so the pieces weren't firm. The potatoes used were really old & positively mushy.
I did report this to them about 2 months ago but obviously they haven't paid attention (& I'd forgotten).

For the fourth time I bought goods that were seriously rotten. A bag of potatoes purchased earlier turned out to have liquid rotten potato material dripping in my cupboard. The New World supermarket in Chaffers Wellington does not seem to have any idea about selling rotten food. I have never had experiences like this at any other NZ supermarket. They need to seriously review their practices
