Terrible experience in Martins Jaecoo Winchester. Advertised a good deal online and social media. Went in while it was still valid and was told they wouldn’t honour the deal online. Falsely advertising to get customers in. Sales manager was very patronising and unsupportive of his Sales team.

Purchased a low mileage, used Clio from Martin's Basingstoke. The experience from start to finish was courteous, professional and thoughtful. (special mention to Dan-Stefan Radu!). On the day of purchase, Dan was happy to taxi us from our local We Buy Any Car depot back to Martin's to collect our Clio. He also offered to send over any vidoes explaining features that we weren't familiar with or that we would find generally helpful. All this was followed up with after sales calls to check we were happy with the car. Overall a smooth, seamless experience.

We contacted Hannah Wilson @ Martins VW Farnham on 18th March, regarding a used Polo for our daughter. The car had not come in yet but she advised us that once they had the car she would send us a detailed video. On the 24th March we contacted Hannah again regarding the car only to be told that someone had reserved it the day before. At no point had she advised us to put a deposit down to secure the car. This is very bad business practice from a vw dealer and we are very disappointed that she did not advise us to do this. I have seen in other reviews that this is not the first time this has happened. We assumed that we had first refusal as we had contacted them the week before regarding the car and basically said we would have the car once we had seen the video. We have emailed the head of operations but have received no response.

Update...it seems I never got a response from Martins. They seem to pick and choose who they respond to. My advice to others is think very carefully about using them and read some of the 1 star reviews.
Unfortunately we did not have the best of experiences with Martins of Winchester Renault.
I visited the Renault branch in Winchester in January 2025. I travelled from Bournemouth to view a Kona Electric vehicle (£18k+ vehicle).
Nick Anderton showed me the vehicle and I was happy to purchase it. I left a deposit and was asked to pick it up a week later. At the time I was told it had 2 keys, it would be cleaned in and out, it had a recent service and the HPI would be cleared when I collect.
So far so good. If only that were the case.
Then the stress and constant chasing begins, when I say chasing I mean lots and lots of emails and telephone calls.
A week later I traveled back to the branch to see Nick again to pay for the vehicle and collect it. I did another HPI check just before I paid and it said it still had outstanding finance. Nick explained that this is normal and that it would be cleared after I purchase it. He also said that he only has 1 key at the moment as the previous owners need to drop it off. They are on a 'cruise' and Nick will post it to me as soon as he gets it. He would have known that so he should have told us before we started the journey. I would have then waited until Nick had both the keys.
I asked to see the service book, the last service was a year ago and it was due a service. Nick then said it just had a service and he then signed the service book and stamped it, this didn't seem right to me.
So at the time I had 3 issues - HPI, 1 key and also the lack of service record.
HPI issue: I had to call and email multiple times during the following week, eventually the finance was removed. So this was fine, but still stressful as it looked like it had finance on it.
Missing key: The lack of key is a big concern because they cost £700 from Hyundai. Every time I spoke to Nick he would say that they were still on holiday or he would send it soon. He even said the last owners had it in their kitchen hanging up! I felt I was constantly contacting Nick asking for the key.
The service record: no service was completed, so I had my own done at my own expense at Hyundai.
The car was not cleaned inside at all as it still had food from the previous owners. You do not expect this from a £18k car.
We also had a problem with the headlight that needed an urgent fix.
In the end we gave up speaking with Nick as he clearly was not able to tell me the truth and we were getting nowhere. Every time I asked about the key he would say phone back next week.
In the end we spoke with a man called Ed and he was very helpful. He asked me to get the vehicle fixed and that they would then reimburse me once I send them the payment receipt.
So I got the headlight fixed and sent the bill to Nick, what a surprise. Nick just ignored the emails and no payment was sent to me. So I contacted Ed again and he sorted the payment out for me, which was great.
At the same time he said that I should order the new key and send him the payment receipt and he will reimburse me. It took lots of chasing but I eventually did get the payment for the key, but it took a couple of months in total.
So to cut a long story short, it's been very stressful as I have had to send many emails and lots of phone calls, it's been going on for a couple of months. You just don't expect this when you buy a car.
But Martins Renault did resolve the issues in the end thanks to Ed Spence, Ed did a great job and really did help us.
My advice to any potential car buyers if you go to Martins, do not deal with Nick. If you do, make sure you have everything you need as he will not follow up on anything he says. If he says it has 2 keys, it's likely that this means 1 key. If he says it will be cleaned, this means it won't. If he says it's just been serviced, this means it hasn't etc etc.
It's such a shame I had to write this bad review as everything could have been much better without too much hassle.
Just a very frustrating experience and not one I would want to go through again.
I wanted to share the fabulous experience dealing with Martins Renault Winchester when sourcing a brand new Renault Clio.
Not only did Matt Hayes offer a fantastic deal the care, attention to detail, and customer service Matt Hayes provided were first class from beginning to end. I would highly recommend Matt Hayes and his team!

Update: I did send an email about my experience to customer services as requested but didn't get so much as a reply!
I purchased a Nissan Qashqai from Martins in Winchester and it was just error after error. The order form was wrong, the snags on the car weren't sorted when promised, nothing ever seems to be checked. I ended up having to make a extra payment in case because they hadn't done the finance right. I will never go back there, they ended up being very rude chasing me for extra money.

I took my sons 16 year old car in for a ABS fault to Martins at Camberley.
As the fault was a bit tricky I decided to use a main dealer rather than my local 'have-a-go' garage.
There service was exceptionally professional from the point we dropped the car to the point we collected it.
I cannot fault them, I always thought a main dealer would not be the best option on an old car, but I would definitely use them again.

Dan was amazing from looking, ordering to collecting could not fault anything. The service was 1st class. Simon is the go to man for problems he assured me I could contact him anytime if I couldn't get in contact with Dan. Such a lovely happy team. I will definitely be going back and I have told all my family and friends to visit Dan at Martin's Renault Reading before
going anywhere for new car's. Highest recommendation to this dealership. I can't think of anything to improve maybe pay them more.

Bought a car from them the off side tyre was wearing on the out side in the front the tyres was to different type which I was told was illegal which I found out when I had the tracking done . When I took it back about the tyre wearing I was told to go and get it done at a tyre place but when I checked the MOT it had an advisory about the tyre you off thought they would of made the car fit to drive very disappointing

Car Stinks of Smoke
Recently purchased a VW Golf from Martins Group Farnham. Travelled up from Plymouth to pick it up. Car looked great. Finalised the documents and away I went.
Got back home and my partner got in and said it stinks of smoke. Obviously where its been valeted it masked the smell, but got overpowered a few hours later. I was NOT made aware that the previous owner smoked, as I would not have purchased the vehicle. Just over 2 months later, there is still a smell of smoke when getting into the vehicle. I also noticed a missing part in the boot.
I have contacted them about the smell of the car and the missing part. But no replies at all. Just get the feeling they are glad the car is gone as it stinks. So be careful when buying through this company.
UPDATE
After a bit of persistence and another issue that came up with my car. They contacted me and organised a hire car to be dropped off at my home. And took mine away for repairs, I was kept informed on progress throughout and got the car back with the issues and some other work all sorted. So thank you :)

The service department is nothing short of excellent. The staff are very polite and go all out to assist you in any way they can. However, all the staff strive to assist you if they think you need assistance. You are never left in 'mid-air' wondering who to speak to. I cannot recommend Martins highly enough.

We have purchased several brand new cars from Martins. The most recent is a ID.3 EV. Great car very happy with it.
Unfortunately the charging flap has decided to stick closed, so cannot re charge. Phoned Aarron in service department, he suggested leaving it with them for a week or two, and they will try and look at it !
I said is that the best you can offer, yes the reply !
This is the first review I have ever done, but as a 75 year old pensioner could not believe his attitude.

Appalling customer service and after sales. Had warranty issue with my Alpine A110 and was fobbed off and treated like a numpty. Then to top it off they swapped my £1000 engine cover for an old tatty and repaired one. Avoid, avoid!

Here we are 7months later and I get the standard response to reach out to them, Nice!
Don’t worry yourselves. I have fix the lethal brakes, the clutch pressure issue seems to have resolved itself and Alpine UK have supplied a new engine cover.

Having had fantastic customer service by Jack Eccles when I bought my Taigo I am very disappointed in the after sales and service from Martins Farnham.
Having had a problem with the dashboard on my car, I called Jack who said the service department would call me however I’m still waiting but fortunately it has corrected itself!
Today I went to have my car serviced, on arrival I was advised the car was serviced in April when I bought the car which was an ex demo model and the oil change was not due for another 100 plus miles so I did not need to have anything done, yet they booked me in for service!
I decided to go ahead with the service and the oil change because the garage is 35 miles from where I live. I waited in reception from 9:20 am and was not given any update until I went and asked at the service desk at 11:30 am. At that point, I was told it would be 15 minutes.
Eventually, the service advisor came over with paperwork to advise me my car was ready and at that point she told me that the car hadn’t been serviced when I bought it and it was due, but apparently the dashboard had been reset! Now I am unsure what to believe nor do I have any faith in your service processes and standards. The advisor then handed me my keys and I then had to ask where my car was! (Attention to detail is key) When I went to collect my car it was parked so close to another car I was unable to get in as I am disabled which I had advised at the service desk. I had to ask a salesgirl that was nearby to squeeze into it and move it for me to enable me to get into it!
Having spent £ 25,000+ on a car Is it wrong to expect good service to continue? I feel very disappointed you’ve had my money and now you don’t care or give an after service, had I known this I would not have purchased my car from you and will not be purchasing from you in the future. Totally disappointed!
As a final comment do not expect your car to be cleaned after service their excuse is they have gone eco friendly and are saving the planet.
Martins in the current car industry climate attention to detail is key especially when it comes down to customer satisfaction and retainment!
Your failure to meet customer expectations on this occasion has created an opportunity for your competitors to step in and offer a better and more satisfying service. Your dealership will not be getting my business in the future!

Had my car service and MOT at Martins, Basingstoke. They rang me to tell me it had passed both. I paid and they delivered it back. When I checked the paperwork, I found that they had found a nail in one of the tyres with the paperwork marked red for needing attention. I took the car immediately to a different garage who found the tyre needed a full replacement. I rang Martins and left a message to complain. No response.

Cant understand the poor reviews,bought a new car and did a part exchange all with great customer service from Richard and his sales team at Winchester Omoda.There have been a few issues with the car but everyone at Martins has been helpful and could not have done more.
Over the years ive had many new cars and without a doubt Martins are top of my list for customer service always taking the time and trouble to communicate and inform.
Latest experience today 07 11 24 and still First Class.
