Campervan was rather tired - e.g. a bolt used to hold the fridge door shut and it regularly popped off its hinges.
Communication not great between branches - we weren’t told that there wouldn’t been any airport transfer available in Auckland even though it was still in business hours.
Enjoyable trip otherwise.

These people from Lucky rental, all they care about is to get your money by renting you a rent a wreck. It seems cheaper then the other campervan rentals, but make no mistake, renting with lucky rentals can cost you dearly with money, to be stuck with the van (unable to drive due to bad maintenance), your health, or lot’s of stress.
The first campervan I rented, there was exhaust gas coming into the cabin.
I noticed after a couple of days because of big headache, the sore throat and watery eyes. There was a big impact on my health and lot’s of stress. I had to wait 1 day at the workshop. But also there was hot air coming into the cabin, almost unable to drive because of the heat, also the fridge not working at all, my groceries all gone bad. And the waterpump intermittently working. Furthermore It was not clean, and there were cockroaches in the campervan. Then because of hot fumes still coming in the cabin I did a swap, and got another campervan.
The second Camper the fridge was not working too. The Driver‘s window was not working.
There was fuel leaking on the engine, with a really strong fuel smell. At the stove, the gas supply was leaking, with a really strong gas smell when you were cooking. Also, the bathroom door fell out every time you drive. And the lower bed fell out of place during sleeping, all the time you wake up, because the bed separates…
All this things ruined my whole holiday, and they didn’t even compensate accordingly.
Don’t rent with these crooks, it will cost you dearly, and if you don’t believe it, check out the dozens of Superbad reviews of Lucky or Happy campers!

A good experience overall but more details about the car should have been given as to how things operated eg. Locking system

Gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis, rasche Antwort auf Anfragen, unser Campervan hatte zwar schon viele Kilometer am Tachometer, war aber gut in Schuss. Freundliches Personal bei Abholung und Rückgabe.

I am still in dispute with this company as they charged me for a parking fine I had already paid. They are refusing to reimburse me and asking me to raise the issue with the council. They have charged me an additional administrative fee, this will it be reimbursed by the council. They are rude and will not give me the complaints number for their company. I would never use them again. I suggest you don’t

We had the lucky rodeo (Toyota Estima) and it was perfect for everything we needed for a five week trip. My partner is 6’2 and I think if he was any taller he wouldn’t have fit in the drivers side with the way the bed/back sofa is fitted. He didn’t fit in the passenger side but fortunately he loves driving and the plan had been for him to do the majority of the driving.

Great road trip, no problem… campervan a little bit old!

The car was not only old, it had ablot of things not working. The bathroom door was broken, The passender Windows didn't open. Water was not working one day, and when we called road assistance we were told we had to wait till Monday and go to a workshop.
The car drove fine but for this prize we would have liked a car, which is not falling apart around us.

Staff were very pleasent. The pick-up amd return were very quick.
I rented a camper car, for 2, non self contained and its painting was a little bit damaged, so on the first look was not good, but after all i understood that sometimes the roads are not good around New Zealand. I had a minor problem with the car and the company had help me very Quick, with easy comunication, só I appreciate that a lot, very trustworth company.

I had no problems and the vehicle was perfect for traveling!

It was a fascinating experience to travel with Lucky Rentals. But it would be better if every vehicle has a SC registration.

Waited an hour to get our van despite having a booked in pickup time. Wasted another 3/4 of an hour going to a police station and having an email sent to Lucky Campers to verify an Australian digital license. The police officer who was a highway patrol officer said there was absolutely no need for that and even scanned our digital license to show she had all the details.
So Australian Digital Licenses ARE ACCEPTED by the NEW Zealand Police force as a valid form of identification. Directly from the highway patrol officers mouth .
The van itself was ok but very old and worn out. ( by the looks of it an ex Juicy van )
It was cheap though and I guess you get what you pay for.

The staff were super friendly (Christchurch), and they made the pick-up and drop-off as quick as possible. The car was quite comfortable for its age and had been well-maintained.

The van we were given was not cleaned at all (we collected it in Christchurch) - I will say we have been compensated for this, in addition to the drain cleaner we had to buy which temporarily sorted the clogged drains. We also had to spend half a day getting the van serviced by a third party in order to fix the drains. Overall, the impact on our trip was minimal but it was always something we were thinking about - whether we would get the deposit back and if we’d be blamed for the existing faults with the van. The team did express their apologies both at the end of our trip and over email so their customer service is great but the service itself could do with updating.
