I, like many others have noted, was a previous customer. Recently received an offer via the mail for a competitive rate because I was such an “excellent” previous customer and decided to apply. I noticed the lowest rate offered on the website from the provided special link was significantly higher than the mailer. I called first before submitting my application and I was told I could get a lower rate if I had excellent credit. Our scores are in the 800s so figured we would be ok. Nope - the rate we were approved for was almost 3% higher than the mailer. I won’t proceed with the loan but now I have an extra hard pull on my credit which will drop our scores. Unscrupulous, predatory and devious. Do not be tempted by their false advertisement. I will be filing a complaint with the CFPB - this group needs to do better - way better.

They’re crooked as a politician don’t trust this company

Was told my loan was approved then was charged for two verification times, was then asked for emergency contact gave it. I have attempted to contact the person I was dealing with and all I get is looking into it. Also those charges are still on my account not just a 24 hours charge. I have my doubts about if the money will ever arrive. Good luck if you use this company. Have contacted rep Mr. Wilson several time last time was told money should be in account by midnight,or early this morning. Well no money and no response to last text message. Company isn't reliable in my opinion

They told me I was approved for $10,000, however thy needed assurance I was going to pay pack the loan. They wanted to deposit $1,500
In my account and I needed to refund the deposit by PayPal or cash app back to them as a good faith gesture. Once it was paid back they would deposit the &10,000. He was trying to convince me it was legitimate I wasn’t buying it. I told them to cancel the application.

They say they accept good credit but apparently 767 isn’t good enough. “Great credit” didn’t get approved but they advertise that they work with good credit. Wrong. They work with wealthy people & take advantage of average people. I’d steer clear based on their ethics alone.

Have had numerous loans with them my credit rating is 831 and
rates are high. If making principal only payments make note that they take interest out which I was unaware of. I noticed it online.
Not happy with them last loan I will do with them.

When asking why I was given a rate, they do not help at all.

They cannot share what factors contribute to your rate and the most they will share is a scripted email stating the factors they consider. Don’t expect ANY personalized help for a loan from them

Don't waste a hard inquiry here. LightStream relies entirely on a rigid automated algorithm and has zero human underwriters or phone support to help you.

Their automated system auto-denied me for "unverified income" because my second job does not show on my TransUnion report. (side note: I have held 2 jobs for the last 5 years)

When I emailed customer service to provide direct proof—including my employment contract and recent pay stubs—they flatly refused, stating they do not accept external documentation. A human underwriter could verify my income in two minutes, but they prefer to let a dumb machine run their business.

Take your business to a competitor like HFS Financial that uses actual human processors and soft credit pulls. LightStream is a textbook example of broken fintech.

Like stream is a scam they ask for your routing and account number and try to steal your money they say they are going to put money in your account and that you're approved actually they're trying to get your bank information to take your money

WORST PRODUCT EVER!!!

I never write reviews, but I feel compelled to given how bad the experience was. I have banked with Truist for nearly 20 years and am strongly considering changing banks as a result.

The process is relatively fast, but it is completely disconnected from all human interaction. You submit an application and wait for several hours (at minimum) to receive an email to confirm if you have been approved or not. If you are needing money quickly, this can be problematic because you will wait most of the day for that approval notification and if you are declined, there is no explanation.

Also, the LightStream service is completely disconnected from the Truist banking app. You can see your loan amount, but when selected it takes you to their website. In other words, you cannot make a payment from the Truist app. Additionally, the repayment options are limited. From my experience you can either pay the loan off entirely or make the minimum payment. If there is another option, it's not easy find.

Regardless of who owns them, LightStream functions as an independent entity and there is nothing anyone at your local branch can do to help you. They have no say in approvals. All they can really do is help you fill out the application.

All of that to say, do yourself a favor and go to any other bank for a loan. You can tell them what you need, fill out the paper work and they can tell you if you are approved/denied in less than 20 minutes.

Complete bate and switch. My credit score is almost 850 and they advertised 6.49% then came back with 10.5% and had the nerve to congratulate me they were screwing me. Stay away from this company. It’s a bait and switch

I will FOREVER associate this company with scams. My wife was scammed online and convinced to take out a loan. The scammers recommended Lightstream as their preferred loan company. I filed a police report against the scammers. But the damage was already done. We finally paid back the loan on July 21st.

I WILL NEVER recommend this company as it is recommended by online scammers.

I had a very disappointing experience with LightStream. The application process required a significant amount of personal information, which I provided in good faith. However, despite this, my loan was not approved.

What concerns me the most is that a credit inquiry was still placed on my credit report. This negatively impacts my score, even though I did not receive any benefit from the application.

Overall, the process felt misleading and frustrating. I would advise others to be cautious before applying, especially if they are concerned about unnecessary credit inquiries and sharing sensitive personal information. Fraud. Be careful.

Be very careful of Hackers using this company to send people fake emails of loan documents, i have forwarded fake email documents to this company fraud department

I recently used LightStream to finance an out-of-state vehicle purchase, and the convenience was unmatched. I prefer to handle things digitally (online, emails) without having to call and talk to someone or deal with pushy sales tactics, and LightStream's process was perfect. I submitted my application on a Friday before a holiday weekend, and the funds were in my account by the very next business day (Tuesday). The website and account setup were incredibly clear and walked me through everything step-by-step so I knew exactly what I was getting into. I especially appreciated how they explained the auto insurance requirements—since it's an unsecured loan, they provided clear instructions on what to say to my insurance so I didn't have the hassle of adding a lienholder. Now I have the title in hand! Highly recommend for a seamless, 100% digital experience.

Scammers. run fast and hard

There is somebody out there using LightStream’s good reviews to act fraudulently! They took $500 from me! I do not believe that it is the real company. Please make sure you are actually working with the company and not the fraudsters! I have not actually worked with the real LightStream but the reviews say it all, which is why I trusted these people!

Applied for a personal loan with a reasonable rate online, which took minutes. Approval happened the same day. Funds received two days later. They did much better in all regards than my own credit union, where the rate was double and the time requirements were weeks.

Sent me a denial letter with a credit score of 797. Proceed to pull hard inquiry the next day on my credit. For what? Reached out two weeks ago and they couldn't even bother to get ahold of me? I've never had a negative mark on my credit report and make over 6 figures. Makes no sense.
