I'm a freelance music composer too, apart from freelance developer, etc. and I released some music on their website 2 months ago and they have a insight section where you can see the stats. The line was flat for a long time and I started wondering what's going on and contacted their support and asking them why my content isn't available in their search engine. After waiting for a long time they finally replied telling me I should advertise my page on their website to drive traffic to it, which was quite a shock to me. I mean, if I should drive traffic to my page then what is their search engine for? Also, if I should drive traffic towards my page on their website why should they take fee off of the sales of my content, since I'll be doing all the work. I should instead drive traffic to my own website and avoid fees Bandcamp would take from sales, I should sell directly to my customers. So I closed account there. Their service is running shadowbanning, I didn't even know my content was not listed in their search engine, a friend told me.

My account was deleted (i think for a picture, never received a message saying why) in end of june/july of this year, i've contacted support several times and never had an answer since. I lost hundred of euros on mp3 bought on this site and some of my work in mp3.

Order a CD from metal music austria off of band camp. Never received CD. E mailed them 3 times no response. E mailed band camp they sent e mail to label and guess what? No response. I WILL NEVER BUY OFF BAND CAMP AGAIN!
DO NOT TRUST METAL MUSIC AUSTRIA LABEL!

Like many of the other one-star reviews. Repeated messages to their helpdesk being ignored.

Update: helpdesk replied to my request after five days. Problem sorted out.

They are nothing but thieves. They started making my balance negative last week and today i tried to log in they said they didn’t recognize me. And their support is not answering.

Band camp is excellent for high quality downloads, Flac Wav Alac etc... Compared to iTunes paltry 256 aac files. There is also a lot of free or pay what you can afford music available. Remember of you buy physical products from Band camp you are buying directly from the artist themself, so be patient! My one complaint as a UK dweller is that I still have to pay an EU tax on every album I buy, I hope this unfair tax stops soon as the UK is not in the EU anymore!
Bandcamp is the future of music sites, there are also thousands of 24 bit Flac files available now, such great sound quality.
Staff have always been helpful and polite with me.

Even in Steam if i bought game and it was removed i still can install it and play, but here if you bought something and it was removed you will just throw money in the air...

I used this once without issue but discovered completely vile images promoted by Bandcamp, even without being logged in. Basically porn, this was found on the main page and my children, looking for music on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp unwittingly saw this unfiltered crap promoted by Bandcamp. I immediately contacted them and deleted to app and am now trying to delete my account. Unreal how businesses will use anything to get attention.

Of all the music sites I use I have found this to be the best. I go to Bandcamp first before I go elsewhere. Good!!

I have used this since early 2019 and it's generally great. I have sold albums and songs and the payout is ok for someone that is pretty small in the music industry. It would be nice to have an even better payout rate but hey-ho at least some people out there are listening to my music.

Buyers beware. I have very poor experience dealing with this company. Orders placed never received, no response from their customer service pages. When I raised a claim with PayPal my order was cancelled and i was advised that a refund would be made within 30 days. Guess what? Yes that's right, it still has not been received months later. Talking to other fans via Facebook, it looks like mine is not an isolated case. It seems there is no protection for the customer with this sort of service. Has anyone received any refunds from outstanding Pledge Music orders?

The whole site, concept, etc, are near ideal. The mobile app needs a ton of improvement. I find maybe 73 percent of the music I love there. Great selection for the genres I care about. Band and label pages need more customisation. Overall, I love it.

Orded and payed £30 for a Rocksteady album on vinyl, Lp. It should arrived in the middle of April, but never show up. I wrote to them and wonder where my item was... NO ANSWER!
So...NEVER AGAIN!

I pre-ordered a CD of an artist I know and enjoy late in April. It was supposed to be ready on May 10. On May 18, a Saturday, I wrote to say that I hadn't received any notice of the status of my order. I didn't expect to hear back from them until Monday but, to my surprise, I heard back that evening. After a couple of emails back and forth, I said that I wasn't sure whether I had actually ordered the CD orr the digital download. I forwarded to them the email I'd gotten that confirmed my order but that wasn't clear on which format I'd requested. They couldn't find me in the CD records but offered to send me one if I gave them my address, which I did. I was dealing with Rick who apparently doesn't sleep or take a day off. I would definitely deal with Bandcamp again!

Non existent service after the product never arrived and they force you to go through paypal to try and get your money back.

I wanted to upload my music, but they don't accept mp3s. I am not paying someone to record me when I can do it myself.

As others have mentioned below, i also had problems when buying physical goods off Artists on Bandcamp. I ordered a CD off an Artist about 6 months ago which i never received. The description on the Artist page clearly stated that item(s) are shipped out within 5 days which just wasn't true. 10 days after still not receiving my item i contacted the Seller and asked would they please tell me when my item would be shipped out as i had still not received anything or neither had i had any dispatch notification. The Seller never responded despite contacting them twice more. I then contacted Bandcamp support and explained the situation and they told me they would contact the Seller to try and find out the reason for the hold up. After this i heard nothing from either Bandcamp support or the Seller, so unsure what to do, i decided to open a dispute with Paypal to which the Seller never even bothered to reply to, and Paypal ended up reimbursing me. Fast forward 3 months and out of the blue i get an email notification from Bandcamp saying that my CD has been dispatched which turned out to be a lie as i never received anything. After this experience i have stuck with just buying my Albums digitally and would never buy any physical goods off Bandcamp ever again. There's probably tons of Shady Artists/Sellers like this on Bandcamp and Bandcamp support doesn't seem to care or even take any action against them.

As a fan of music must say band camp is crap. not realy clear and easy for use, pushing you to buying music they are promoting.

I bought an item (CD) from a record label on Bandcamp. I very quickly realised that I wasn't going to receive the item and after trying to contact the seller (without reply) and notifying Bandcamp had to open a PayPal dispute. Bandcamp did eventually remove the payment option for the item, but provided no support or apology to me for being conned out of money on their site. I did get a full refund via PayPal but after following all the correct procedures it took over two months. I have also identified many accounts on Bandcamp that are NOT the official artist/label pages so be very careful when using this site. It's also worth saying that anyone can open an artist account on Bandcamp, rip a CD, upload it and then sell the contents which I'm pretty sure is an infringement of copyright if not illegal.

Well to say i’ve had a bad experience with Bandcamp would be an understatement. Countless emails and a tweet and everything has been ignored. No contact number and they seem to just ghost you if you message them. I placed an order a month ago with a band who I thought were reliable. A month on, no order, no sign of a refund. I contacted them direct to which they said they would be posting and I could expect to receive early this week. No sign of the order 8 days on from my message. Will not be ordering anything through here again.
