This was the first time that I had bought a car online without seeing it "in the flesh". However it is a very long way from Chester to Aberdeen! Gordon Farmer the Sales Executive could not have been more helpful. He did a very thorough video walk round of the XC40 pointing out any faults, which would be rectified before I took delivery. He was very accommodating in arranging delivery of the car to a relation in Montrose, until I was ready to collect it.
A very pleasant experience. I would highly recommend Gordon Farmer and John Clark Volvo Aberdeen.

Everything went smoothly. There were no issues and the car arrived early

Very poor customer service. I will never ever purchase a new car from them ever again, they were just interested in getting your hard earned cash and that was it.
If you want a new Volvo you will be far better off going elsewhere!!

Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and welcoming. There is obviously a very high standard of training and understanding of customer needs. This shone through in our dealings with the John Clark team.

Our experience at John Clark was a very good one.
We went in just for a look, we were treated well, there was no hard sell and they were very patient with us.
We ended up having a test drive in an XC60 hybrid and loved it.
So we placed an order.
The whole process from start to finish was simple and quick.

The process was straightforward. I particularly enjoyed the personalised video messages sent by Adam throughout the sales process keeping me update.
On handover date Adam made sure i got to site and went through all the details, helped me get set up and made follow up call to check on things and enabled me to ask a few questions. I found the Volvo online process easy and the online paperwork and signatures mad everything very convenient. Finally I love the car!!

Shambolically appalling and abysmal service on all fronts.

Either I am incredibly unlucky with my experience of buying a brand new XC40 Plus from Volvo and John Clark, or this is the norm. I suspect it's the latter.

I purchased a brand new Volvo XC40 from the Volvo website which I was expecting to be a simple process. Find the car you want, place your order, pay your holding deposit and sit back and "relax".

Every opportunity Volvo and John Clark Aberdeen had to decimate my experience with them, they excelled!

1. Unable to collect the £500 deposit due to technical issues with Volvo's online payment system.

2. John Clark Aberdeen failed to initiate a private plate transfer.

3. Due to Volvo's continued issue with taking payments, this created further delays with generating the finance agreement resulting in numerous calls to them.

4. After receiving an update stating my car was being prepared for handover, I followed up with John Clark regarding my private plate, which they were now processing after I chased them up.

5. Volvo Finance were unable to generate the new finance agreement because John Clark had not processed the private plate at the start of the sale, leading to further delays.

6. My car arrived in Aberdeen on Monday 9th September and due to john Clark not processing the private plate, which they were informed about at the very beginning, this is now holding up the handover.

7. Handover day! Yay! NO!! I arrived to collect my car and was asked to sign the handover document inside the dealership before I had even seen my new car. Strange I thought, but happily signed the document and we headed outside.

Adam spent some time going through the set-up of the vehicle and connecting my phone and then drove my car around to the front of the building, where Adam had hoped to give me my car and say goodbye.

Except!! There was a rather large scratch down the driver's door, onto the wing and over the wheel arch trim! WOW! I asked why my car had not been inspected and Adam's reply was "we'll get that sorted, I'll take it around to the prep guys now".

No apology! That I was shocked at! Just, "we'll get this sorted"!

There is no way on this planet Adam was not aware of that rather large scratch on the vehicle and was simply in the hope I would not notice it.

In addition to that, on the front suede passenger seat, there were marks from a liquid being rested on the seat.

To this point, I received no apology.

Sometime later, Adam returned only to tell me the car needed to go to the bodywork shop and when do I want it to go? Still, no apology!

The car is being picked up on Thursday 19th September from my house to have the scratch on the driver's door, wing and wheel arch trim to be rectified and the front passenger seat addressed.

Still, no apology from Adam whatsoever!

My entire experience with Volvo and John Clark Aberdeen has been abysmal at every stage, from their website not being able to collect a simple £500 payment to not processing the private plate until the very last minute and finally the scratch on my car and mess on the front passenger seat.

It is as clear as day why Aberdeen has such an appalling reputation when it comes to selling new cars. And as for Volvo, I am truly shocked at just how woefully inept they are and their online order system is.

I will update this review as it progresses.

Overall experience was fantastic from start to finish. the whole process of buying car went smoothly, no pressure environment, transparent financing and exceptional customer service.
Mr Aaron specially was very helpful throughout the process. He took time to go through all the features and setting which mad me very comfortable before driving off.

Went to visit the showroom approx 10 days ago. Wondered round the inside and outside and all staff bar one who was with a customer were sitting on their iPad / at their desk. I am not disputing they may have been busy / following up on orders etc.
There was no financial details that I could see on the cars outside so I couldn't work out if any were in my price range.
After failing to catch any attention from any of the sales people during the 25 mins or so that we had been looking, we went to leave.
The receptionist asked if I needed help and she did offer to get a salesman to assist but I chose to leave my details including my budget / trade in details. Someone would look through stock and get back to me was how it was left.
Never heard from them again.
It could well be that they don't have car in my budget. Granted it was never going to be a brand new one but I would have expected a call just to say they didn't have anything suitable. Sorry but not impressed.
