Second car we have purchased here. Excellent service again.

Steve Smith made the whole process quick and easy. He is patient- with a car idiot- and clear in explanations and helpful. A sense of humour helps here. His advice was excellent and never rushed me.
There were one or two teething problems after picking up the car but these have been sorted promptly and Kara at the desk was very good.

It was nice doing business with you. I’m glad I didn’t have to come all the way to Dundee to get my car and it was initially brought for me to inspect and gave me time to decide and delivered the car after all transactions were completed.

Good service from the sales team all round

Have bought my previous car from John Clark and vouched I would return there. Sadly with this experience I’m not sure if I would again. Have recently gone to an electric car, was very unsure but convinced by the sales team, completely missold me the car. I explained my needs and expectations along with disclosing medical information to assist my purchase. Spend two different days in the showroom as the first deal was nowhere to be found and had to do it all again. Was told about the great ranges these have, the easy of turning off of the safety features with one click, that can be very irritating and dangerous when driving. Turns out the range of electric cars are significantly poor in the cold. The features aren’t in fact an easy switch off and takes multiple clicks. Contacted the sales manager in the branch to ask for support as I am really really unhappy with the car, this isn’t the car for me and wanted some good support to help rectifying this, to be advised that the range I am getting is correct (it isn’t) that if I’m not getting the best range sit in a freezing cold car with no heating on, no electric functions like heated seats, steering wheel etc, always drive the car in eco and also reset the mileage prediction every-time I get in the car. So another 6 clicks on top of everything else. Have had no support in getting me into another vehicle, no prompt contact made to assist me and quite frankly a horrific customer service I would expect from Arnold Clark not John Clark. Extremely disappointed with MG Dundee. It’s really sad how one branch can really significantly impact someone’s opinions on a large company like John Clark. Maybe the MG team should spent time with Mini, Cupra, Seat or Skoda to have significant learning on customer service, customer support and the ability to be empathetic and retain return business.

I spoke to a salesman called Andy about 2 weeks ago and I reserved a MG4 XPOWER I paid the £100 deposit , I then changed my mind and was told I would get the £100 refunded ..... This has not happened I have called emailed and I keep getting fobbed of with the excuse the accountant is off on holiday. 😞😞😞

We recently purchased a car from John Clark MG Dundee but we had issue after issue.

There were issues with the car; faulty air conditioning, missing parts, broken charging ports, tyre warning lights. These issues were then rectified at a local garage (arranged by ourselves, although John Clark paid for it, this did not come without issues). It needs to be noted that John Clark advertise a 150 point check, that clearly hadn’t been completed here. Not only that, the car was in their forecourt for at least 2 weeks, we’d have expected most of the issues to be identified before purchase.

There were also several issues with the service/ employees; the first manager was rude and dismissive of the issues we’d had(told us our issues couldn’t be an inconvenience because there was a garage in our town, refused to give us details on what work had been carried out on the car), the salesperson was sexist & rude (comments like “wives tell stories”, we knew we weren’t purchasing via finance but still insisted their deal was competitive (it wasn’t), rude when we told them what we wanted for our previous car, didn’t want us to collect the car from anyone else (despite knowing we had to travel)). Neither apologised for the issues we’d been experiencing, nor did they follow up with us. I then spoke with a senior manager (I assume) to seek compensation for the issues we’d experienced and we were offered a service in Dundee (we live around 70 miles away), service in a local garage (paid in years time but because of payment issues with the repairs, this was not acceptable) before a financial offer that was less than a service costs was made. However, this manager was the first person to acknowledge our complaint and to apologise. He stressed this wasn’t the experience John Clark want customers to have. We escalated this once more because we didn’t feel the compensation offered covered the cost of time of work, 4 trips to the garage and the stress/hassle. We have since been ignored.

I hoped we could resolve this without the need for a public review but we feel like others should know what’s happened to avoid making the same mistake we did. This is not the service we expected from John Clark.

In summary, we wished we’d read the reviews prior to purchase and we would certainly advise any potential customers to think twice before purchasing.

Very easy experience from the start to finish

The hand over was nice and quick, but after 2 days of having the car the light for a flat tyre came up, I called the show room and they weren’t very helpful and after 4 days of having to pump the tyre up I recalled the Mg Dundee and spoke to someone else and they said to take my car up which I did on 8th October 25 which I’m now waiting for a part to be delivered for my car to be fixed.

Sales man was easy to deal with & manager was helpful.

Nothing special, had better service elsewhere but got the job done.
