This company is highly unprofessional, even at company director level, they have done a deficient report for an insurance company on my vehicle, got numerous facts incorrect, wrote a 2nd report after the insurers questioned them, failed to answer a 4 page letter from me pointing out the inaccuracies of their report, & messed me around costing me over 2 months of my time as I was going to instructed them on a different matter. I would avoid dealing with them at all costs. They have also failed to acknowledge a SAR request sent to the office manager & 1 of their company directors after 1 week. The company are also refusing to give me details for another company director, just refused to answer multiple questions on the phone & hung up on me! BTW, if I could give a minus 5 rating, I would do!

Utter disgrace of a company. Came to look at the awful repair job carried out on my vehicle. Didn't even look at the issues I had raised. Didn't lift the bonnet to inspect anything. This company is paid for by the insurance companies so they only look out for their interest. Not Independent at all. I would video record any visit from these con artists, just to cover yourselves.

Had a Hoopers technician sent to inspect the damage to my car for insurance purposes, He pointed out damage that I never noticed, Very skilled at his job also had great communication and people skills, Very pleased with his work, Cheers.

I've waited until now to leave this review as I'm more than reasonable but after 3 "independent inspections" from Hoopers I can safely say they're anything but independent.

During the 1st 2 inspections the engineers were quite rude and arrogant. During the 2nd inspection I informed the engineer that there was a bad/faulty connection sound coming from the front passenger door/speaker area following "rectification works" by KC Autos Atherton. A few weeks after the 2nd inspection I had set off driving and there was a loud "pop" from the front passenger area and smoke started to come through the vent with an electrical burning smell - at that point I pulled over right away as I thought the car was going to set on fire. Following this none of the speakers in the car are working - I informed my insurer and after going through the Financial Ombudsman Service they agreed to organise another inspection. In the meantime, I took my car to an auto electrician as I thought it was an issue with the speakers but after diagnostics they discovered that the media control unit had burnt out (estimated around £2000 to repair).

Macauley was the engineer who visited for the 3rd time and I was pleasantly surprised as he seemed very helpful compared to the previous engineers. During the inspection I showed Macauley the issue, he then informed me that he would contact Steve at KC Autos Atherton to obtain "system scans, etc" from the repairs to see if it showed any diagnostic warnings. He then stated that "whether it is or it isn't, at the end of the day, it's a fairly new vehicle, it's only 4 years old, it's done quite low mileage, it's a clean car". But today I have been informed by my insurer (Hastings) that the engineer's report states that the issue hasn't been caused by the accident itself or the several rounds of "rectification works" and therefore they won't be paying for the repair. Unfortunately, it seems like my only option now is to go back to the Financial Ombudsman Service as this just isn't acceptable - there were no issues with the car (2018 plate) until after the accident in July 2022 - yes, that's how long this has been going on for!

So, in conclusion, I've been told one thing to my face and the report states something completely different. Going off other reviews it seems like I'm not the first person to experience this - AVOID.

Not independent and not an honest inspection, they will run with whoever is paying them.
This company is a joke stay away!

Mr Macauley Ormerod has just inspected our 2023 motorhome which sustained hail stone damage during our trip to Lake Garda.

Mr Ormerod was the ultimate professional both in manner and his knowledge of repair methods.

His attention to detail during his inspection was there for me and my wife to witness which increased our confidence that a full fair conclusion would be made.

I feel he is an excellent example of what an engineer should be.

I look forward to hearing from our insurance once his report has been submitted.

From our experience I would 100 % recommend Hoopers Engineers.

Con artists that lie through their teeth to earn their commission from the insurance companies who get great pleasure in trying to convince you they are independent, joke of a company and should be avoid at all costs, if the insurance company mention hoopers refuse and pay for a INDEPENDENT Company that dont work on commission.

MUPPET ENGINEERS. STAY AWAY! I had a car accident within an hour of collecting my car with a brand new engine fitted. My car was a write off. The car failed on me with multiple warning lights and leaked £100 worth of diesel. I was on my way back to the garage after reporting this amd was advised to bring it back. I didn't make it as the car failed and resulted in accident. Fortunately i didnt hit anyone nor anyone hit me. Emergency services said i was lucky to be alive. I have witnesses who saw the incident as those were the people who helped me out of the car. Anyway, my insurance team appointed these muppets to investigate and they came back after 6 months saying they couldn't find a fault nor a leak. Where other passer-bys warned me of engine fuming and smoke from the back leaving a rainbow trail. The petrol gauge dropped from 3/4 full to nearly empty in 20 mins. In their report they didn't start the engine to check the ECU for diagnostic faults. Either these guys don't know what they are doing or colluding with the manufacturer. Reading other reviews about this company STAY AWAY!!!!

The Assessor Alan that inspected had an overbearing pushy attitude akin to a door to door salesmen. He also lied on the report stating that the valuation had been agreed with the thrid party which was a total fabrication. Unsure if this company get commission, but they were most definitely not professional.

Shocking , avoid.

Having read all the reviews, I was expecting a very bad service. We did have to wait two weeks to hear from them but that’s the only bad point. They were really helpful when they contacted us and the amount paid to us (as the car was so damaged it was only worth scrapping) was way beyond what we were expecting. They were more than fair. Plus they then arranged for the car to be picked up within two days. So I am more than happy to award five stars.

I had the misfortune of having to deal with this incompetent company due to an insurance claim- the insurance company used them to inspect the damage (RSA Motability as their driver bumped into my parked car but did the decent thing and left their details)

A one week wait to arrange a visit with no time of day given- just have to leave whole day clear and wait for call when so called "engineer" is on their way. Having already had a bodyshop inspection and sent photos to insurance, all they do is come and take more photos of your car.

Mike came and did the inspection on 27th Jan. You have my sympathy if he does your inspection as you'll probably never get a result back again. It's currently 3 weeks later and his report (for a simple cracked rear bumper) still hasn't been sent to the insurance so the entire repair process is on hold. I've phoned the insurance to follow up every couple of days - been told no report from Hoopers - so each time I've been transferred to the Hoopers phone line to enquire. The best they've been able to offer is "a message has been sent to the engineer as a reminder".

Initially having waited 7 days for the report, I was eventually put through to Mike one afternoon who said he'd made his decision and would send it through that night. Not a man of his word as 14 days later still nothing, despite may follow-up calls to with Hoopers. Mike is out making many more inspections daily as he's always "out on the road" according to the office, whilst leaving the follow-up to these visits incomplete.

I ask - what's the point of doing all those inspections if you never send through the result

Mobility car catalytic convertor was stolen on 21/11/22. Car has been with dealership for work to be carried out since 22/11/22. Hoopers have not been to assess and authorise the work till today 9/12/2022. They are booked and busy. Dealership cannot start this job. An amputee is depressed without going out. I have told RSA why have they given my car business to such an inefficient company. There must be other companies who can do the job quicker. Appalling company should not given contract by RSA mobility and motability business

Noticed alot of bad reviews on here, my experience was complete different, they total lossed my vehicle and advised they had valued my vehicle through glass's guide and cap guide, however explained the value based on my condition and mileage which was acceptable to me. no complaints here

This company has failed to sort out a claim for repairing my car in over 6 months. Full marks for incompetence, zero marks for communication skills, zero marks for professionalism, zero marks for timely handling of a claim and zero marks for knowledge and expertise with regard to my particular vehicle. It has wasted many thousands of pounds of its client's funds paying for a replacement hire vehicle for over six months to date. It is a travesty that this (dis) organisation still bears the illustrious name of a once great coach builder (including for my make of car). The current incarnation couldn't sell coach tickets, let's alone build coachwork. Its name should be changed from Hoopers to Hopeless, which would not infringe any trade description, nor leads to claims of inaccuracy of its reviews

I’ve been falsely accused of crashing into another vehicle, someone put a note on another vehicle with my reg. It’s all been a absolute nightmare. Sent over 20 photos of my car clearly undamaged and that wasn’t good enough so they told me this company was to come and inspect my car. I’ve waited in all day for the inspector to come who has never arrived. Trying to cal them and get in touch with them has been awful. The people I spoke to were rude and said the engineer came yesterday which did not happen as I wasn’t home and have cctv outside my home to prove it. I pray no one else has to deal with this company, especially when you’re completely innocent. No regard for the time they waste not sending someone out to you or an apology.

They have absolutely no knowledge of what vehicles they are evaluating and are insulting and attempted to pressure me into taking their offer. I went to meet them to assess me vehicle where they offered not even a quarter of the cars value (which I did eventually get the full value I believed and proved it was worth), spent time insulting my car to me calling it an old wreck and just chucking the key at the roof thinking I would scrap it. Then when I refused his offer he said that in that case the insurance company would be taking my curtesy car right there and then and I'd never ever get what I deemed it was worth since I don't know what I'm on about (been in the motor trade since 15yrs old).
