This is quite a good tool
This is quite a good tool. I have started to use it to help put together chord-melody arrangement of tunes. My one big difficulty in use is troubles associated with the imported audiofile, a truly remarkable feature! But getting the tempo just right is often difficult. It is usually right for quite a few bars at the beginning, but then can drift off the mark. This could be either the tempo I entered is not quite right, perhaps even off by a fraction of BPM. Or, the source could be wandering a bit (think Money by Pink Floyd, though I have not worked on that one...). The process for adjusting the measure markings is not very intuitive, and I often find myself really off after a few minor tweaks. So, either beef up the documentation there or give some detailed tutorials on how to make these adjustments.
Otherwise, great tool, I have gotten pretty used to how to enter notes quickly, add chord diagrams, etc.

Very nice program. Thr learning curve is a little steep. It is not always obvious how to achieve certain tasks such as line breaks. It is easier to do a Google ai search for instructions than to use the help function.

Great app!
Great app!
The downsides:
1. When the new version comes out "magically" the older one stops working even though it is license for life
2. When trying to adjust the view it is not that flexible.

Thanks for your review, we’re glad you enjoy the app.
Just to clarify: the license is a one-time purchase (lifetime for the version you bought). A new release does not disable previous Guitar Pro versions.
For example, Guitar Pro 5 is still usable on Windows 20 years after its release. What can change over time is compatibility, since Windows and macOS updates may eventually affect older software.
About view adjustments: thank you for the feedback, we agree more flexibility would be useful, and we’ve shared your suggestion with our team.
Thanks again.

Hi GP 8 Pro is great for me
Hi GP 8 Pro is great for me. I've only been using the program for a few months, but it helps me. The main thing is that I can connect the soundtrack with the musical notation. It's a shame that synchronization has to be done manually and is not done automatically. Since I use the program to play the diatonic harmonica, I miss support for it. I think it was in GP 6. I couldn't find the soundbank in 8. Maybe in the next version. Bugy

I've been using various versions of guitar pro since 2010 in high school. Its helped me transcribe pieces for jazz band, helped me build lesson plans for guitar students in college, helped me put together the music for the family band for my brothers wedding, and keeps giving. For all that I've spent less than $100 for very user friendly software. Just buy a license, its worth the price.

Robust but sometimes fiddly.
An extremely robust and straightforward tool.
There are a few minor quality of life issues though.
When i click and drag my mouse to select a bar, it either selects one bar, or the entire score.
Selecting a specific group of bars is like picking a lock with your mouse cursor.
Also the automation tool is extremely tedious unless im missing some shortcuts. Trying to pan volume precisely is also like lockpicking with your mouse cursor and as far as i can tell there is no way to copy paste an automation to another bar.
The way the cursor auto scrolls across or up/down in some instances is deranged. These are issues 99% of users wont even run into anyway.
Ive been using gp for nearly a decade though and these minor fiddly things are the only issues ive seen, very impressive.

I was somewhat disappointed with Guitar…
I was somewhat disappointed with Guitar Pro 8 and was expecting better. The main problem is that I have a non-english keyboard (I'm in Sweden) so all the keyboard shortcuts invariably don't work. Apparently this is a well documented problem that has been ignored for years. Secondly there are certain limitations with the software that should be addressed. Like the inability to start a new score within a score. Surely Arobas understands that a guitarist might need to createa bunch of exercises that are only a few bars long, like arpeggios or a quick scale or two? This is not possible today, it's one continuous flow. 'Text's are also very limited. Also, I was disappointed with 'MySongbook' which I thought would contain common guitar scales, arpeggios and concepts that every guitarist at some stage needs and utilizes? I see just songs. I spend a lot of time talking with AI to solve simple tasks because of my Swedish keyboard and because the manual is not particularly helpful or extensive. For me this software is not much better than Musescore so I may decide to go back to that in the future. Time is too precious to spend searching for workarounds and solutions. Musescore doesn't have this problem.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear Guitar Pro didn’t match what you were hoping for.
We understand your frustration regarding a few keyboard shortcuts on certain non-English keyboard layouts. Please note that this only affects a very small number of shortcuts, and we are actively investigating it. In the meantime, all actions remain fully available and usable via the menus and on-screen icons. You can also find the full list of GP8 shortcuts here: https://support.guitar-pro.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001646978-GP8-List-of-keyboard-shortcuts
Regarding your suggestion about creating short exercises within a score, we really appreciate the idea and it has been added to our wishlist for future improvements.
As a reminder, Guitar Pro 8 is available as a free trial with full features, which can be helpful to confirm whether it fits your needs before committing: https://www.guitar-pro.com/download-guitar-pro
Finally, mySongBook is a sheet music and tablature catalogue rather than a theory course platform, and you can browse the catalogue here: https://www.guitar-pro.com/tabs
