I have used first table several times and always found quite a saving, however, used it at The Avenue restaurant recently and found it very restricting as it could only be used on mains and not the whole menu! And you were unable to have a table on the terrace! WHY? The meal was fine but just found these restrictions a bit strange. Definitely wouldn’t return there on first table again.

There website doesn't work. It seriously lags making it impossible to use.

Total rip off booked at table at the bear in Manchester. Reservation expected for 2pm not 4 pm as booked on line. Arrived and offer on for 2for 1 pizzas . Therefore paid the £6 to reserve for no reason. Total rip off wouldn’t recommend to use again !!!

I booked a restaurant through First Table for the advertised 50% off food offer and paid the £6 booking fee. The discount was applied correctly, but the restaurant then calculated the 13.5% service charge on the full, pre‑discount food subtotal.
After checking First Table’s T&Cs, I found a line saying service charges are calculated on “the whole bill.” While this technically covers the practice, it’s buried in the small print and isn’t shown prominently anywhere during booking, payment, or confirmation.
For a paid, non‑refundable fee, the discount terms should be clear and prominent, not hidden. The lack of upfront disclosure meant the real value of the promotion wasn’t obvious until the bill arrived. The discount on my food was much closer to 25% than 50% when the booking and service charge fees were taken into account.
Posting this so other diners understand how the discount actually works. At least with food discount offers under The Fork and OpenTable, you never have to pay a non-refundable booking fee.

Just started this in my area. Paid my £6 then had to cancel table. Can't get the £6 back as has to be used against a future booking. The restaurant I want is continually sold out now so basicslly lost £6.

This scheme is a nonsense. We went for the first time today, four diners at a chain pizza place. Paid £6 for the table via first table. We did get 50% off the food, which amounted to a discount of about £25 but as they make you order drinks with every meal, we were forced to order sugary drinks and juices which we never would have normally done. After the drinks were deducted and the £6 table booking we'd saved £5 over what we'd have normally spent anyway. It seemed like a scam, there are loads of better dining discount schemes out there.

I book through First Table and had two great experiences, both restaurant food was so nice. I was not aware of First Table until it was mention by a friend, I register, best thing I have ever done and I have recommended another two people.

It's a great service to have, very straight forward and simple and any queries you have the support team in customer service gets back to you super quick, I really like that brilliant customer service. It's great this service exists and the fact you can book in different regions. I hope more restaurants who are not register team up to First Table.

Easy to use and great for finding new restaurants in London

Some restaurants have set spe ial conditions on firsttable customers. For example Harbourfront seafood restaurant only offers very limited choices for the firsttable customers. Customers are forced to order drinks that are charged for full price. Moreover, they ask for tips that is very rare in Australia. The company of firsttable should let customers know these restrictions before they pay the order fee.

Poor experience with first table. Used in Edinburgh twice.Firstly, it was not applied and then was given a new bill and was told that it only applied to mains. Spoke to the manager and showed him the terms and conditions. Made the whole experience very uncomfortable. If restaurants are not going to abide by the rules, what’s the point? Also had a second restaurant apply an arbitrary junk fee that was never mentioned anywhere when booking which defeats the point and doesn’t bring the saving you expect. To top this off, first table would not honour the referral credit despite me following a link which popped up to encourage me to do this. Was not the smooth process I had hoped and not honouring the referral fee left a bad taste in the mouth. I don’t want to be having awkward conversations with staff to get discounts or have back and forth a about referral fees to be told that I hadn’t done something I know I have. Maybe some people wouldn’t care but I want to relax when I’m eating out. Unnecessary stress for me, won’t be using again.

I LOVE first table. the people complaining about it just didn't read the terms and conditions. It's an amazing deal. I live in London and recently saved over 90 pounds in a 3 person dinner in mayfair. it can't be beat.

Really useful app to book off peak tables, and with 50% off the food what's not to love! Small booking fee to pay but worth it for the savings on food.
Used First Table a few times now and found some amazing local restaurants through it.

I recently booked a restaurant through First Table, and while the initial booking process went smoothly, my experience took a disappointing turn. I was excited to use their discount for a family event, but the front-of-house waitress seemed completely unaware of the offer. Not wanting to escalate things during our gathering, I decided to reach out to First Table after the event.

They responded quickly to my complaint, stating that they would ask the restaurant to reach out to me directly. However, after a week and a half of waiting, I still hadn’t heard from the restaurant. I followed up with First Table again, but this time, it felt like I was met with silence—no acknowledgment whatsoever.

Overall, I cannot recommend First Table. If you encounter an issue, be prepared for a lack of support and communication. It’s frustrating to feel ignored, especially when you’re a paying customer with a genuine concern.

Love this app! We tried so many nice places , good prices, good food and service!! I would highly recommend it!!

Disappointed - what is the point in allowing a restaurant to join firsttable if they are allowed to inflate their prices to offset the 50% discount. We hadn’t realised until a few days after that we basically paid standard price, if anything plus more because we also had to pay the £6 booking fee. I escalated this with customer service and they said that it’s up to the restaurant basically.

I think that’s extremely poor and very misleading. It not only reflects the restaurants value but first table’s value as well for accepting this.
