I would strongly advise others to think carefully before purchasing from this company.

I reported faulty light fittings on 22nd February, and while I have now finally received a refund for the lights themselves (on 10th July), the overall experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

The fittings were advertised as “The high quality aluminium frame houses large clear glass panes and is finished in a chic midnight black.” This led me to believe the frame was aluminium and therefore would be resistant to rust. However, after only three months of installation, all 15 lights began to rust in the corners of the frame, which raised concerns for me about whether the product matched my understanding of the description.

When I first reported the issue, the company attempted to deflect responsibility rather than address the fault. They initially suggested the problem was due to coastal air, despite the lights being installed in the central Midlands. They then blamed direct exposure to weather, even though these are outdoor lights designed for such conditions. I was also told that the issue was not rust but “corrosion”, and was advised to clean the fittings, remove the rust, repaint them, and apply a protective coating—all on lights that were only three months old.

In my experience, the fittings were of poor quality and failed shortly after installation, which meant I had to pay for replacements and additional labour to have them removed and reinstalled. Despite raising this, no compensation has been offered for the labour, fuel, or time involved.

Returning the faulty items was also unnecessarily difficult. I was given a collection date but no instructions that the lights needed to be individually packaged in their original boxes. As a result, the courier refused to take them. I then had to spend over three and a half hours returning the items in person, at my own expense.

Communication was also very poor. I had to send multiple emails and make several calls just to get updates, and at least three of my messages were completely ignored.

While I eventually received a refund for the products, it took nearly five months and required significant effort on my part. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and additional costs I incurred mean this is not a company I would recommend.

Overall: poor product quality, poor customer service, and a very difficult returns process.

I wish I had read the other 1 star reviews on here before buying.

Excellent products, produced to an extremely high standard. Customer service is wonderful, and the team couldn't possibly do more to help. Can wholeheartedly recommend the company!

What a brilliant set of Lamp tops, next day delivery packaged very well perfect match for our old Lamp posts. The website gives step by step instruction how to install posts, very very pleased would recommend this company to anyone/everyone. We had waited to erect our posts so glad we did and found Englishlampposts.Like a couple of kids when they lit up for the first time.

Bought the Victorian Lamppost to finish off my newly designed garden. Lamppost came on delivery date and more importantly as descriped. Easy installation. Really happy with how it looks. Would recommend.

I noticed on the order slip total weight 30kg so I queried it only to be told we recently reduced the weight to just under 31kg for packaging and delivery purposes so a 30kg lampost which should of been 38kg as stated in there listing for the same price .they wasent bothered at all basiccaly if you not happy do a return terrible people.
Like buying a 1kg bag of suger give shopkeeper money and you get a 500g bag you ask where the rest is o we reduced it to save on packaging but he still took full price for a 500g
The company is a con don't use them look how many bad reviews they have.they trade under black country metal works aswell as English lamp posts becarefull of these places

I have spent £3K on lamps with this company. Customer service is awful, They dont reply to emails when they tell you to email. The quality of the products is very low. They say they make them in the UK but they look they are made in China. I bought a lamp post which is too short. The picture o their website is totally deceiving. Would not recommend at all.

Rubbish company to deal with and I would not bother again.

Firstly didn't have the decency to acknowledge the order.....If someone holds a door open you expect a thank you, let alone spending £500 with them!. Gave a BS excuse that it was BT's fault.

Goods arrived late....No apology?

Goods were damaged and was told to paint with Hammerite.....Wonder if a cars salesman would tell you to do this?

Parts were missing. Some but not all were replaced. No apology or kiss my A**

Stick to Chinese rubbish which is quarter of the price but at leats you know what you get!

The customer service is far from great here and the product quality is disappointing too.

We're renovating an old house and bought a set of outdoor lamps from these people. Neither the lamps nor the shipping are cheap, but it's hard to find this period design elsewhere in cast iron.

I wanted the pillar-top lamps to match the free-standing ones, so I contacted them in advance to check what I was ordering. But, despite them confirming that all the lamps would be the same size, what they sent was actually two different sizes, so the pillar ones are noticeably smaller than the free-standing ones.

We also found the paint on the lamps was very low quality. After just a few months outside, it had faded (from black to grey) and started flaking off.

I did contact the company to express my concerns, but they never responded. We want to buy more lamps in future, but it won't be from English Lamp Posts.
