Ebel Arvostelua 5

Ebel-Uhren mögen ja schön sein, eignen sich jedoch höchstens als Zweit- oder Drittuhr. Eine Revision (nicht beim Uhrmacher möglich, sondern nur bei Ebel) dauert sehr, sehr lange. Ich warte nun bald drei Monate und weiss nicht, ob ich meine (!!!) Uhr jemals wieder sehen werde. Dies ist meine erste und letzte Revision...

Ebel clearly has a policy on how to drain customers once they have bought their Ebel watch.
The design department clearly knows how to manufacture a stylish watch.
But once you own such watch everything is done to gain absurd revenues from simple maintenance.
This is not wat yoy would expect from a Suisse quality brand. Examples:
Every two year the watch strap breaks because of poor sawing. Only solution. Buy a new one.
Yearly maintenance. To keep guarantee you have to send the watch to Switzerland. Invoice € 275,-. Even there own dealers are not allowed to renew guarantee.
Ands so on and so on

I collect watches and I agreed to help my wife get her vintage Ebel watch serviced. It needed a new Ebel Wave watch strap and a battery. I went to the watch service companies I know in Hatton Garden, and they all said they don’t do Ebel as they can’t get the parts. They then went on to explain there are very few watch service companies in the Southeast of England. They suggested writing to Ebel in Germany and buying the watch strap directly. I contacted Ebel in Germany, and they recommended that I contact Mistal Time Services in Lancashire. I sent photographs to Mistal Time Services who they said they couldn’t read the serial number (it’s difficult as it is worn) and thus they couldn’t find the model in their records and so they dismissed the watch as “fake”. I know from the provenance, weight and feel that it is not a fake. Mistral Time Services said it was out of their hands and said they were doing what Ebel Germany was instructing them to say? I asked who I should speak to at Ebel Germany and Mistral Time Services refused, but they did agree to get them to call me. Ebel Germany did not call. Then Mistal Time Services offered to assess the watch for an undisclosed fee. My trust in Ebel has evaporated and I don’t intend to accept.

Es ist absolut ärgerlich, dass für meine Golduhr keine Armbänder mehr hergestellt werden. Die paar Restposten in Farben die niemand wollte verzichte auch ich gerne! Deshalb überlegt euch gut, bevor ihr so eine Uhr kauft. Für die Restposten bekam ich dann noch einen Kostenvoranschlag von Fr. 500.- in LEDER!

People should think very, very carefully before purchasing an Ebel watch. They are attractive watches but when they require a battery change or a service, the charges are exorbitant.

I sent my Ebel watch to Ebel’s workshop in UK to have its battery changed. Although the cost was £113, a lot for a battery that retails for a few pounds only, I trusted Ebel to carry out the work properly. That was a big mistake! A few weeks later I was contacted and informed that Ebel said the watch needed a service and the cost had now escalated to £590! I confirmed that I only wanted the battery to be changed, but Ebel refused to carry out the work. At that point I felt my watch was being held to ransom and I was being coerced into spending £590. In the end, it took more than 4 months for my watch to be returned to me without any work being carried out.

I would never buy another Ebel watch, nor would I recommend Ebel to anyone.
