Currys Aladdin's Cave - a pleasure
I've shopped at Currys many times over the last 40 years or so. Times have changed, but the ambience, smiles, and friendly staff are there wherever you wander through the Aladdin's Cave of just about anything that uses electricity. This journey was to purchase a new smart TV, a Samsung, to be precise. When you are about to spend a couple of thousand pounds, you want to be assured you are getting the right deal. Well, first off, Currys price matches everything. What I didn't expect to find was a soundbar (with subwoofer) free when purchasing the TV. A wall bracket was heavily discounted, and I got £250 off my final invoice by giving the installation guys a 30-year-old TV on the way out after installing everything. Amazing staff, attentive, able to enjoy a bit of banter, what more is there to say other than thank you Currys.

Utterly useless
This morning my Panasonic microwave that I purchased on the 25/11/2023 stopped working, fortunately I took out an extended warranty with Curry’s at the time of purchase.
My first hurdle was navigating through the various options to actually speak to a member of the service department, I finally managed to get through and my problems simply intensified as I tried to explain the situation. I’m not sure if Curry’s service department is overseas as the first person I spoke to seemed to struggle with basic English as did the second one, I had to continually repeat myself only to be told that they had not record of my purchase, even though I gave them the receipt number and date of purchase. I was then transferred to another agent and had to go through the same painful process again, only to be told that there was no record on their system, so after 40 minutes of telephone conversation without any satisfactory outcome, I ended the call !
I then decided to contact the complaint department and was cut off twice, at that point I simply gave up trying to resolve this by telephone and decided to take the microwave back to the store, thankfully they did have my details and booked it in for repairs.
My advice to others who are considering purchasing a extended warranty with Curry’s is don’t bother, it’s a totally useless service, never again will I purchase another product from them!
