Currys - Craigavon Arvostelua

On Thursday 15th October I visited Curry’s Craigavon to purchase a Brother printer. I intended to pay for it using a One4All card and the remainder via credit card. After completing the transaction the till froze and a receipt could not be printed. Curry’s assured me that the transaction was void and that if any money came out it would be credited. However, both the One4All and credit card were debited without a refund. I waited several days to see if the funds were returned to the One4All and credit card, however, they weren’t returned.

I contacted customer services by phone who informed me that there was nothing they could do and I would need to return to the store in Craigavon. This is a one-hour round trip which incurs fuel costs and is particularly challenging for me as I have a newborn baby, a toddler and a five-year-old.

On Wednesday 21st October I returned to the store and provided clear evidence that the funds had been debited from both the One4All and credit card. Curry’s refused to issue the printer, stating that it was a ghost transaction and assured me that they would contact the relevant company for a full refund. The only alternative offered was to purchase another printer, which is not possible as the One4All card is empty. Consequently, I’m left without a printer and am still awaiting a refund.

As a result, I must make another trip to obtain the printer. This has been a very unsatisfactory shopping experience. We understand that technology can sometimes malfunction and that the till freezing was not the fault of the staff.

The staff however have been very unhelpful and uncaring. No one has communicated with me regarding the situation even though they have my number and email address, and they assured me that someone would definitely be in contact to resolve the issue. On 23rd October the money still wasn’t refunded to my credit card and One4All card. I have contacted customer services again who couldn’t help and just advised a return to the Craigavon shop. There’s no shop phone number or email available to contact. Every return to the shop is another one-hour round trip. It’s the 24th October today and the money is still not returned. I need the money back to purchase another printer. I likely won’t purchase in this shop again.

I had to wait for over 5 minutes before anyone came to the collections counter to serve me. The box was damaged and no other replacement in store.

I made a 35-minute drive to this Currys store on my only evening off to return a broken item covered under Care & Repair. The staff member refused to take it, saying his system was down and there was nothing he could do.

I tried to be accommodating and asked if I could simply leave the item with them until the system was back up, as I couldn't make the trip again any time soon. He refused again, and was extremely rude and dismissive about the whole thing. There was no attempt to help, no apology, and no alternative offered, such as taking my details or booking me in for another time.

With the cost of fuel and the current economy, wasted journeys aren't something I can afford. I left with a broken item and a wasted evening. If you're paying for Care & Repair, expect to be treated like a nuisance when you try to use it. Staff training in basic customer service is badly needed here.

I'd advise calling ahead before making a trip, and I won't be shopping here again.

I wanted to order a tumble dryer in Craigavon, but I can’t, and they won’t deliver it. I went to the store and chose one that was in stock, but the lady told me that I have to collect it myself. I can’t order it online either. Is this a joke?

Our advisor took the time to explain the technology behind the TV we were interested in purchasing which reinforced our decision to purchase that particular model. He then helped us to the car and made sure the TV was secure before he left us. Excellent service.

I think what made my experience at Currys special was the attentivness of the young assistant who aided me so expertly with my purchase. They could not have been more helpful, friendlier or knowledgeable in regards to the item i was enquiring of and it helped me very much in deciding which product siuted my budget and needs. Customer service is a priority for me and the person who served me is an absolute credit to your company.
