Excellent experience as usual.
Excellent experience as usual.
I have been buying all of my metal detectors and accessories from Crawfords for almost a decade now.
Their team, who are Metal Detectorists themselves, is always there to give unbiased advice about contemplated purchases. It is refreshing that they are not shy when it comes to anything negative about an item.
THANK YOU!

I have been metal detecting now for 52 years and for the past 19 years I have used various Minelab detectors. In my opinion they are, the best all terrain detector on the market.
However I am now considering purchasing from a different manufacturer. The reason is the poor construction of the actual body and the coil fixing brackets. They are just not strong enough to cope with use in the field. The larger coils still have the same weak fixing brackets which last no time at all.

Hi Graham
Thank you for taking the time to share this, and first of all thank you for 52 years in the hobby and 19 of those swinging Minelab — that's a huge amount of experience, and we really do value hearing from someone who's put the machines through their paces the way you have.
We completely understand your frustration with the coil fixing brackets and the body construction. That's genuinely useful feedback, and it's exactly the kind of thing that should reach the manufacturer, because in our experience Minelab are pretty good at listening to their customers and acting on it.
Which brings us to one small favour we'd like to ask. Your review is really about the product itself, but on Trustpilot it's been left under the service section, so it affects our rating as a seller rather than the product's rating. As we don't manufacture the detectors, this side of things is a little outside our control, and we feel it may be slightly unfair for it to sit against us as a retailer. We'd be very grateful if you'd consider amending or moving it so it reflects the product rather than our service.
More importantly, we'd genuinely love to get your feedback in front of Minelab. If you'd be willing to drop me an email at scott.ballard@crawfordsmd.com, I'll make sure your comments are passed straight on to them so the right people hear it.
Thanks again for your honesty — it really is appreciated.
Kind regards,
Scott

Good customer support even before you buy
I’ve given 5 stars to CMD as the advice and the help (as a complete beginner) I got from Alison and before I purchased anything was very much appreciated.
After playing £25 for delivery to Northern Ireland I had a real issue with the delivery by DPD as they took no responsibility for an inaccurate tracking system that resulted in a full day wasted, waiting on an item that was never delivered. I eventually had to collect the item from their depot to make sure I got it.
This was clearly not the fault of CMD but once I raised the issue with CMD it was immediately resolved to my satisfaction. No quibbling at all, just excellent customer service. My new Minelab detector is great too!

Hello Christopher. Thank you for leaving another review following another purchase with us.
We understand that you were previously unhappy with our service as we could not provide you with an adequate discount. Unfortunately the amount of discount we can offer varies on each item, but there are no items we can offer over 30% on.
We wish you the best of luck with your new equipment.

Buyers Beware when purchasing from here
I recently purchased a Vanquish 360 metal detectator from this company. I was sent out a machine that had a coil fault, I contacted crawfords and was met with a poor customer service resPonse, i was advised that they may need me to return the item, i informed them i was returning the item regardless as it was faulty and at a cost to myself of £259. I returned the machine on the 08/07/2026 having received it the day previously and they received it back on the 09/07/2026 and heres where we start. They started to say they needed a warranty manager to look at the damage. I informed them its a pity they did not do this prior to posting out. Buyers looking at using this company need to look for alteratives first, a very bad experience resulting in crawfords keeping my money and their machine i will pursue now through ebay and My bank and again BUYER BEWARE TINPOT COMPANY THAT RIP PEOPLE OFF.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We've supplied metal detectors for over 30 years, and for anyone reading, we'd like to simply lay out the facts.
We are an authorised distributor of the world's leading detector brand and sell thousands of machines every year. A genuine out-of-the-box fault is extremely rare (particularly on this model), in three decades, it is almost unheard of and every machine is checked before it leaves us. That is precisely why, when an item is returned, our warranty team inspects it first: to establish whether an issue is a true manufacturing fault or damage that has occurred after the machine left our hands. That process is there to be fair and accurate for every customer.
Even so, and before the correspondence became difficult, we offered a full refund. Our only aim throughout was to help and to resolve the matter properly.
We're sorry that on this occasion we weren't able to meet expectations. We'd gently encourage anyone reading to view the full reviewer profile and history that Trustpilot makes available, and to weigh this review against the many thousands of positive experiences our customers have shared over three decades.
We remain proud of the service we provide and the quality of the products we sell, and we're always here to help.
Kind regards,
The Crawfords Metal Detectors Team
