Started well in 2014 as a contractor when I had a named accountant. Over the years have been very disappointed as the services got worse and the dept became divided and each service you need is managed by different people or teams. Stopped my services and moved to an accountant who I can meet in person and give a paper file with receipts. He has explained things in a way I understand and has rectified a lot of mistakes and unpaid tax I didn't now about that Boox didn't make me aware of. Very concerning that Boox are still accessing my bank accounts and sending me emails asking to prepare my accounts? Very concerning and sad that a service that started off well has gone downhill and is now even more concerning that they are connected to my bank account.

Terrible service that has been in decline for about five years, starting with missing filing deadlines for VAT and on other times requesting approval for other fillings on the deadline day.
They typically take 1 - 2 weeks to respond to even basic queries and their staff often provide incorrect and conflicting advice.
They are a very poor company who appear to have zero focus on quality, customer service or delivering accurate accountancy services.

Truly awful experience. I've had to change my accountant now. Took so long to do my self assessment that HMRC fined me for being late. Paid for a share structure change that after months I still hadn't received, so I asked for a refund and I still haven't received that either. Currently reporting this company to standards agency and I'm having to start legal proceedings just to get my money back. Seriously don't touch this company.

Boox has been my ltd co accountant for more than 8 years. I was an IT consultant until the end of 2019 and since this time my business is no longer active.
Boox have supposedly been closing my company for coming up on a year now, a service which I paid them for.
Today I received a letter from HMRC about non submission of VAT return. The last invoice submitted was December 2019 and Boox still haven't managed to notify HMRC that the company is (supposed to be!) closed.
Numerous phone calls, lost forms, missing submissions. I get the distinct sense no one gives a toss now that I'm no longer a paying customer.
Simply not acceptable.

I have been using Boox for 7 years now, it used to be a lot better when you had an assigned account manager. Now it is assigned to a team it is a lot more like just calling into a call centre. Unfortunately the service has gone the same way and unless you are asking something they already automate in their app, you will be met with generic fob offs or told they cannot help. With the IR35 changes recently, I asked what an equivalent Inside rate would be to my outside rate for comparison. At first they said MSC legislation means they cannot help as that would be advice. After pressing them as I didnt want advice, just a calculation, they finally said they will not do it. If an accountant cannot calculate tax, what is the point in having them?

The app is good, which is why its 2 stars and not 1. But service from the accountants is very lacking.

Good luck getting a response via email. Pretty sure the team mailboxes they use goes into a black hole because you're lucky to ever get a response without multiple chase up emails. If you ring them then they're usually OK but come on, I don't want to be sat on hold waiting to explain what I'd already said in my email.

Absolutely appalling service. I will now raise a formal complaint with the ICAEW, FCSA and most probably a legal one too by the looks of things. Boox do not care at all about you as a client, there is no proper follow up by one accountant for your business. Your data is not maintained accurately as proven by their latest mistake which they want me to pay HMRC for. I have a timeline of communication which clearly outlines their lack of care in the communication and "work" done on your behalf. One too many mistakes which are actually costing money. My company closure is still not complete either after nearly a year!. Avoid at all cost.

A few years ago now Boox accountancy was a very professional and good company to deal with. Things have changed and not for the better. When you call to speak to your accountant, you are bombarded with questions such as why do you wish to speak to them. I pay you for a service! If I want to speak to my accountant, then put me through!! When you do speak to the team it's like talking too a call centre, you speak to someone different every time, some sound a bit clueless, some just sound over worked. I would recommend these people even though the individuals are nice enough. Obviously the powers that be have again put profit as a priority. Sad was a good company.

Expect to wait for any responses in emails. The staff needs a few follow-ups to even start caring about your simple email.

I find using Boox a real struggle. The staff there give me conflicting advice, they also make we aware of problems with the information I've submitted to their database but it's like a guessing game trying to work out the solution. I have been with them 3 years now and keep hoping for some improvement from the staff as their software, app and ability to integrate with my bank account are great. The problem is there is no dedicated account manager and they have no understanding of property businesses. Rather than extension of my business I feel that they resent any contact from me and are a frustrating drain on my time.

Poor experience with the Boox Purbrook team. I joined Boox in 2018 as I was a IT contractor working in London and set up my own Ltd company to trade with. Whenever I asked for key dates I should be aware of or any simple information it took takes days and sometimes more than a week before you got a response. Ive spent more time chasing Boox then I have dealing with my own clients some days. I finally decided to move away from Boox this year. When I asked for a handover of all my accounts and data. I got nothing. If you are a City contractor or a new Ltd startup avoid this accountancy. Their service is devoid of any human interaction and sometimes a human on the other end of the phone is all you want when you need something important, not just directed to another page on their website.

I have been so lucky to have Boox as my accountants over the last few years, they have been very committed and professional in looking after my account

I have had a very good service from Boox. I have recently required a lot of formal accounting information from Boox for my mortgage application and all the team have worked very quickly to get me all the information that I needed.

Also, Brendan Woodward is particularly knowledgeable and is always able to answer any questions that I have.

I have been with Boox for circa. 6 years they have always been reliable, honest and on-time with delivery of key documents.

Questions are usually turn-around same day and issue resolved quickly.

Boox take ownership and accountability of all required and explain in detail the processes to be undertaken.
