Terrible customer experience and faulty car.

Bought a car the day after the car had a huge fault. It clearly hadn’t been tested as had to have the RAC outs

Went back to the garage, not one bit of support. All he said was you’ve got to go through customer service. Paid cash for the car and not one bit of interest after.

We are having to chase anything. Ring customer services, ring the insurance, ring the garage- all on the customer! This is all ONE day after buying the car.

Terrible. Quick to sell you the car but completely don’t want anything to do with you after!

The team were knowledgeable and welcoming. It was a straightforward process to book a test-drive as we knew the vehicle we were interested in.

Kieran, the sales team member that looked after us, was friendly and helpful. Nice guy - made a chore into a good experience.

The floor manager was able to offer a better deal for my part-exchange that sealed the deal.

On collection, the process of confirming the deal, paying and registering the new vehicle was straightforward but we did have a couple of delays before Debbie completed the process and handed over the keys.

We were reassured that someone was available if we needed help with the process or with the features of the new car but this wasn't necessary for us.

All I wanted to do was but the car, in full.
They tried to make me buy add on's and extended warranty which I didn't want, went to sort the paperwork, after about 15 minutes the manager then appears and tries to forcefully sell me the warranty again. After stating that I didn't want the warranty and I would leave if they kept pushing he said okay and left.
After being sat there for at least another 10 minutes without the sales person returning I left.
It was horrendous!!!!

My son bought a car 3 months ago, on the last day of warranty (still garuntee for that day) the car went into engine failure on busy highway. Smoke filled under the bonnet. This was Friday evening- everything closed. Fortunately I had purchased recovery. Car got recovered all the way home. Called BigMotoringWorld Saturday- no after sales support available until Monday.

Called them first thing Monday morning to get it sorted- he needs a courtesy car at least, the car recovered to the dealers as the car is only 3 years old, full service history so has manufacturer warranty too.

But the reply from big motoring world….

I’ve sent an email someone will be in touch in the next 3 to 5 business days!!!

Like what! That’s an absolute joke!

I said surely not, surely a big company like yours would provide better after sales service,

Her reply … I’ve marked it as urgent. Someone will call its usual before this but we have to tell you that just incase.

It’s now a Tuesday evening… still no call. It will be tree days tomorrow, no repair organised, no courtesy to get to work, meaning he’s had to request annual leave as he can’t get too and from work.

Absolutely shocking

I would avoid this company like the plague if you value your money.

Think it’s time to get the finance company involved
Update—
It’s now 12 days since the incident and big motoring world have yet to supply a courtesy car
Have not even assigned a “ticket” to a handler.
Have not contacted my son,
The bank has now been contacted to help get this sorted because there’s been zero support, zero contact, zero communication from big motoring world.
Ignoring this problem will not make it disappear,
Asking me in. Your reply to submit a ticket - there’s already one there! You have just decided not to read it or act on it, as confirmed by your customer service today.
He urgently needs a replacement car, had to take annual leave to try sort it out! Getting no where fast literally.

Update —. Big motoring world refuse to provide a courtesy car - 32 days now and still no car and the vehicle is still not road worthy

I really would urge people to really think about buying a car from a company like this.

If your vehicles repairs are covered under the main dealer, it would their responsibility to supply yourself a hire vehicle.

The repairs is not being covered by us and is being covered under Suzuki warranty that is remaining on your vehicle.

I would advise referring back to Suzuki to see if they have any hire vehicles.

We do understand that you had purchased the vehicle from our site however the repair is being completed directly with a main dealer, in these situations we do not look to review hire vehicles for.

Car only went to the main dealers because they didn’t getting to Intouch following break down of the vehicle for almost 2 week!

Was not allocated to anyone! The hadn’t even opened the ticket in all that time.

I asked to speak to a manager on multiple occasions- over 35 days and was refused every time.

Do not buy a car from this company- it’s not worth the risk. The car was under warranty by big motoring world the day it broke - they tried saying it was not reported in time regardless of proof from the the recovery company and phone call records being sent

They have done everything they can to not fix, help or support in fixing this matter

Thank goodness the car had manufacturer warranty

The repair would have cost thousands because the damage to the engine was extensive- costing almost as much as the car

DO NOT BUY FROM MOTORING WORLD !!!! After purchasing a car approx 2 weeks I noticed grinding when braking. I took warranty out as well. I was advised to take my car to a garage of there choice to have diagnostic testing. The garage informed myself that Good Afternoon.
The brake pads are severely worn and we would deem them to be below the legal limit.
It is basically metal on metal, and would class this as good working practice to replace these front pads, and also eliminate the noise this vehicle currently has.
MOTORING WOULD NOT authorise the brake pads to be renewed. THE SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY APPALLING.

Great experience with Les and the sales managers who got the price to somewhere near what I wanted to pay. We had used the car shop before which is essentially the same place with a lot of the same staff and was happy last time so went there again. There were 4 essential people and I’m rubbish with names but basically the sales advisor (Les) the sales manager (who was able to negotiate the price) the person doing the finance and the person doing the log book and tax. Was happy with them all.
Visited and purchased on 3rd June around 15:00, and got my new car home before 19:00 the same day including test drive, paperwork and a few bits of paint work touched up.
The only thing that I wasn’t too happy about was paying for temp insurance to get it home. Last time it was free, now they charge, with that said though I could have come back for the car once I had changed over my insurance so that’s me being a bit inpatient. I would recommend based on when it was the car shop and now. We purchased two cars last time and have no issues at all with either of them and fingers crossed the same this time.

Les is EXCEPTIONAL! He was totally professional, thorough and efficient and managed to completely turn around what had been, to this point, a difficult experience of dealing with his chaotic colleague. We only wish we could have met Les at the start. If you are considering buying a car from Big Motoring World, Sheffield then I recommend you ask for Les. If he is not available, then come back when he is.

Found a great priced car so sent an enquiry. After reading other bad reviews I was a bit concerned as I would be travelling from NI to get this car. On my phone call I asked for a video walk around of the car which is very common from dealerships and was told they will not provide any additional photos or videos of the car. The entire interaction felt dodgy and I am suspicious of the fact I would travel so far to buy a £20k car on the trust that the car is in good shape when so many reviews have said this will likely not be the case

David who delt with me was very friendly and welcoming and also explained everything I needed

I purchased a car from their Sheffield outlet, and I'm happy with the whole process. The staff were nice and explained everything, including additional options, but weren't pushy with anything. The site itself was modern and busy; the car was given an extra valet and came with a warranty. There was an issue with the car's parking sensor that Big Motoring World let me sort out locally and covered the full cost of a diagnostic and replacement sensor. Jade at their customer contact centre was especially helpful, keeping me updated and explaining my options. I've had the car for 3 months now, and it runs like new with no issues. I would recommend Big Motoring World and will use them again in future with no hesitations.

I was interested in buying a car from here, but the salesman completely put me off proceeding.

My experience with him was pushy, defensive, and unnecessarily pressuring from start to finish. There were clear repeated attempts to steer me towards finance options I did not want, and when I did not go along with that, his attitude noticeably changed. Rather than listening to what I was actually comfortable with, he seemed far more interested in forcing the sale in the direction that suited him.

The most concerning part was the £500 deposit. I was told I would need to pay this before finance could even be applied for, yet it was never properly explained whether that deposit was refundable or under what circumstances. That should be basic information. I asked for the deposit terms to be confirmed by email before committing any money, which is a perfectly reasonable request when making a large financial decision. Instead of dealing with that professionally, the salesman pushed back, said they were too busy to email it, and expected me to rely on verbal reassurance.

At one point, rather than simply providing the written clarity I was asking for, the response was essentially “we’re not a dodgy company”. That is not the point. A trustworthy salesman does not expect a customer to hand over £500 on trust alone while avoiding a simple written confirmation.

What made the experience worse was the pressure around closing time. I felt rushed to make a decision without the clarity I needed, and then the salesman tried to make it sound as though I was the problem for “taking too long”. That was completely unfair. In reality, a lot of the delay was caused by the salesman himself repeatedly disappearing for long periods without explanation, then coming back and acting as though I was the one holding things up. The only thing I did was ask sensible questions before handing over money and entering into finance.

To be blunt, the salesman came across as more interested in pressure, control, and getting the deal over the line than in being transparent or treating a customer fairly. His approach damaged my trust in the process and ultimately put me off buying the car.

My advice to anyone dealing with this dealership is simple: get absolutely everything in writing before agreeing to anything, especially where deposits and finance are involved. Based on my experience with the salesman, verbal reassurance means very little when clear written answers are being avoided.

We had such a great experience at Big Motoring World thanks to Hashim. He helped us buy two cars and was patient, helpful and never pushy. He gave us time to properly look around the cars ourselves and helped us find the perfect family car within our budget, as well as a smaller run around car for my husband.

We traded in our old cars and were able to drive away the very same day. Both cars had service history and were freshly valeted before we left which was a lovely touch.

Hashim really looked after us throughout the whole process and made what can be a stressful experience feel easy and exciting. If we ever buy another car in the future, we’d definitely want to deal with Hashim again. Highly recommend!
