I use this swimming pool as it is close to work so I can pop along before work.
I started going before COVID and it has always been looking in need of repair but I put all that down to the age of the building but ever since COVID has finished the pool sides and bottom are dirty and I mean DIRTY,you can see a green film on the bottom and sides I have mentioned it to the staff but they just ‘thank you’ and walk away,as I said I go there before work so I go in at 6:30 when it first opens and when I have finished to have my shower there are hairs all on the side of the showers,so they are either not cleaning at night before they shut or not even bothering when they open,disgusting.

A lot of personal trainers in the gym
A lot of personal trainers in the gym making quite hard to train at some hours of the day. It is not fair that people can acces with a personal trainer as you don't pay a gym in order to go with a personal trainer. Just go to a personal trainer with his own space.
The staff member is excellent 10/10 and the gym equipment is acceptable 7/10.

Any customer using the gym, either with a personal trainer or independently, needs to either have a membership or have paid for their session, not just with the trainer but for the gym itself.
If there is anyone who is using the facility and is not paying for their session in the gym, they will be asked to either pay or leave.

Amazing place, really great staff. Stephen is so helpful and kind, Zandeesha is super calm and lovely, James is the best, Sam, Diana - they're all stars. They look after everyone, old and young.

Swimming lessonsinstructor was good needed - two…
Swimming instructor was good needed two instructors, two lanes blocked for swimmers during lessons and then a third one closed during last ten minutes of our swimming lesson making it difficult to teach and learn.

The kids pool is like swimming in a…
The kids pool is like swimming in a pond, it's absolutely freezing. I had to buy my daughter a wetsuit as she started to turn blue. Yet she's still freezing. If the pace was faster and they were teaching more swimming skills, we'd be moving more and we might get warmer, plus she'd be learning something. It feels a bit flat. She loves swimming but she keeps wanting to leave the pool before the class ends. We'd like to cancel asap but when I click to do so on the website, it says I must give 20 days notice?

Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re really sorry to hear your daughter is feeling cold during the kids’ pool sessions — that’s definitely not the experience we want for her. We appreciate your suggestion about increasing the pace and focus on swimming skills; we’ll pass this along to our instructors to see how we can improve the classes.
Regarding the cancellation policy, we understand it can be frustrating. The 20-day notice is in place for all customers so this is not something we are able to change. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, and we hope to make things better for you and your daughter.

I have so much respect for the amazing staff and teachers whom do their upmost for members. The membership fee is so small so budget it small but they do amazing things- the equipment is new and well maintained
The personal trainers especially Janet m phenomenal (having been at equinox, Kx and Virgin active) although I might not get horrid smelling shower gel that they have but Janet is a much better trainer than I ever tried there and the yoga teachers halina karen and Suzanne for trampoline amazing

As a long-standing member of Better Gym at Chelsea Sports Centre, I felt compelled to share my thoughts on the recent equipment upgrades – and honestly, I'm blown away! I've seen some changes over the years, but this latest investment has completely transformed the gym experience.
Like many others, I've sometimes found the older equipment a bit tired, but that's definitely a thing of the past. The new cardio machines are a dream! The treadmills feel so much smoother, and those new screens actually make my runs go by faster. Plus, there are plenty of them, so I haven't had to wait around even during busier times, which was sometimes an issue before.
The strength training area is where I've noticed the biggest difference. The new resistance machines feel really high-quality and target the muscles so well. It's great to see a wider variety too, allowing me to mix up my workouts more. And for those of us who love lifting, the new free weights and benches are fantastic – sturdy and well-maintained. It's a real step up in terms of both quality and quantity.
What I appreciate most is that it feels like Better has actually listened to members. I remember seeing feedback about the need for better equipment, and they've clearly taken that on board. The gym now feels much more modern and well-equipped, making my workouts more enjoyable and effective.
Sure, no gym is perfect, and I'm sure there are still things that could be tweaked (maybe a few more water fountains!), but in terms of the core offering – the equipment – Better Gym Chelsea has absolutely nailed it. It's a significant improvement and has definitely renewed my enthusiasm for my gym sessions. If you've been considering joining or haven't been in a while, now is definitely the time to check it out. You won't be disappointed by the new gear!

Great value for money
This leisure center is great value for money in the Kensington area.
The staff are nice and approachable! The gym area itself is small and can get crowded on busy days, but they just changed the machines as of April 2025 so everything is functional and brand new.
Plus I think you get access to classes as part of the membership. Haven't tried them myself yet, but it's definitely a lot more choice than I found with anytime fitness.
