The app is just so glitchy
The app is just so glitchy. You have to press the button about 10 times for it to actually go Through and then afterwards it just goes crazy and opens about 50 tabs. There’s so many new banking that have apps working very well e.g. starling, monzo, Revolut, chase etc it shouldn’t be too hard? Let’s also realise the support apartheid. Anyway I’m moving my banking.
not easy to access for people with…
not easy to access for people with autism that get stressed on phone, not helpful to refer to using the app or online if cannot have access or dont trust online. not good to decline a card when customer buying travel money to fly in 2 days. why are banks closing and the only one open is hopeless for service? and short hours? if you work miles away and cant get there and when you do they cant help you? will be swithching banks
After 2 months of waiting for a debit…
After 2 months of waiting for a debit card for my so called 'Premier Account' I have given up, just a shambles of a bank. I would question why they have to do a credit check for a debit card as they will only allow me to take out my money, but that is Barcalys. At least 10 calls, being asked to go to my 'local' branch which took 2 hours of my time to be told I didnt need to go there. No communication from the Premier Team, the ONLY saving grace was the superb Customer Services Assistant in Portsmouth (Chineze) who couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Just a shame the rest of Barlcays weren't more like her.
Spoke with Katrina at Barclay travel…
Spoke with Katrina at Barclay travel Pack group. Explained I made 2 claims on 1 document regarding a trip to Morocco and Costa Rica. I lost my gucci belt on flight to Costa Rica, actually on the flight and the Ipad fallout of my bag to in the morocco, Marakesh airport. I was more sickened at losing my belt than I was to the damages Ipad.
I made a claim via Barclay travel pack and still. Heard nothing from Barleys. I called again between the 2 covid lockdown and was sent another form. Again no reply. I called Barclay travel section on the 4th December 2023 complaining of the service failure and was then transferred to the RAC car breakdown. This is totally scary, as I have had this insurance since 2016 and never ever made a claim.

I had a disappointing experience with…
I had a disappointing experience with this institution, which I hesitate to call a bank. Their service doesn't compare to the likes of FD or Nationwide. I attempted to take advantage of Barclays' bank switching incentives. After downloading the app and initiating the switch, I encountered a glitch that stalled the process, with a persistent 'TRY AGAIN LATER' notification. It turned out my switch had not been completed.
After nearly two hours of waiting, I managed to contact Barclays' customer service to cancel the account due to the glitch. I was assured that everything had been canceled. Yet, three weeks later, I received a debit card. This was baffling – how could a card be issued if the account was supposedly closed? Their service was embarrassingly poor. I tried contacting them for a week, spending two hours each day without success. Now, I'm forced to visit a branch to sort this out, wasting more of my time.
In this day and age, waiting two hours to speak to a bank is simply unacceptable. I advise everyone to steer clear of this bank – there are far better options available
Transfer of ISA funds
I have been trying since early October 2023 to transfer the funds in a Barclay's Corporate ISA to the Earl Shilton Building Society. Impossible. Despite numerous telephone calls and emails, and a registered letter nothing has been done. They acknowledge that they have had the instructions to do so but will not press the button and send the money. Their Complaints Department have refused to talk to me and have sent a letter saying that if I wish to complain further that I should contact the Financial Ombudsman. This I have now done. My advice is NOT to bank with Barclays.
Dr Edward Murray
A Barclays lesson in how not to help the sick.
My 85 year old sister in law is very ill with terminal cancer, she was given a medical discharge from hospital and is now practically bedridden in a care home.
Her family applied on her behalf to social services for assistance with the care home fees. However social services said that before they could consider her case they needed to see recent bank statements. Unfortunately her last statement was dated April 23 so we requested on her behalf upto date ones from Barclays under a third party mandate procedure.
Initially they were very helpful until they decided that her bank details age, address, etc needed updating before they could release the statements She passed a security test for the third party mandate over the phone but apparently this had to be approved by the local branch. They firstly said they could not approve the application unless she came to the branch in person When it was explained to them that this was impossible due to her condition, they said that we will arrange a visit to the care home and ask her some questions. She has banked with Barclays over 30 years and all she wants are statements that are required by social services.
In addition to cancer she also has early stages of dementia and has difficulty in speaking to her siblings.
I dread to think how she would react to being questioned by a total stranger about matters which she probably does not remember.
We have explained to Barclays that without the statements, not only will she be unable to apply for help with the care home fees, but we have no idea how much money is left in her account.
They are adamant that unless they see her in the flesh the application would be refused.
They suggested that an alternative would be that we apply for power of attorney or a deputyship.
I explained that if that was achievable we wouldn't have needed a third party mandate in the first place. The only reason we applied for it was the time factor.
For a major company to deal with customer this way takes some beating, how would they feel if it was their sister or mother.
Shame on you Barclays.
Garbage company
Garbage company! Attention! Crooks! Do not bank! They filed a claim on my behalf ignoring my wishes at the end of the call.
What happened to Barclays Business?
What happened to Barclays?
Their business banking division don't seem to have any knowledge of business.
They recently sent letters out to businesses threatening to send their info to HMRC unless they receive the 4 page completed document back. The document includes language which is tax speak and hard to decipher. No number to call, no email. Called Banking Division: no one knows how to help. They told me to write a letter, pay for it myself and queue. (what year are we in)? When I asked if someone would get back to me, I was told it's not guaranteed. I can see no one replies to reviews, but here goes. This is the second time in less than a month that Business Division have displayed their lack of knowledge. They don't know what a SASS pension is. Stop hiding behind shiny ads.
Barclays closure in Bicester
Barclays in Bicester used to be good but for ages have wanted to push people online and not deal face to face. Now they have closed but apparently have some presence in Telford Road 3 days a week. What about people who can't get there easily? It's disgraceful to abandon people like this. Banks used to work for people. I had a problem I needed to ask them about and couldn't talk to anyone online without waiting for 90 minutes on Friday. It's not good enough.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. Trying to get a pin number out of them is impossible. They pretend to be helpful but they misdirect you to places you can't get Out of and the only possibility is to quit and start again. This company is not fit for purchase and should be wound up by the Financial Authorities on the basis that it is simply NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
Totally useless online chat
Ansh on barclays app online chat service is totally useless. Asked for up-to-date statement urgently and be told to wait for 2 working days, after almost a week to only find out that statement wasn't even ordered. Typical.
The worst bank in UK
The worst bank in UK! I made an application online as it was recommended to me by clear score (don't know why I bothered). It took them two weeks to book an appointment for document verification, Within the waiting period, they sent me emails texts and a letter. Emails and texts were about reminding me of the appointment while the letter indicated that someone was trying to open an account in my name( to me that a red flag but I still wanted to go ahead with the appointment as I am the type who follows things through) I received two texts messages a day before my appointment asking me to confirm my appointment for the next day. Few hours later I received a call asking if the account is my first UK account despite all my details in my online application. I said it was not my first bank, Then the lady told me not to bother to come in for my appointment that I cam apply in their app at my address. I did as was told and ended up where I started (Verification jargon) they wanted me to book another appointment to go in to the nearest branch. At this time I gave up completely as I was not desperate in the first place, I have been with my current bank for over 2 decades and I work in the aviation industry without problem of ID verification until I tried opening an account with this bank. Two days after I gave up on them, they sent me a letter that they cant go through with my application (AS IF I WANTED TO). The mistake I dis was not to check their performance rating online before wasting my precious time chasing bad clouds.
I payed off a loan and despite the…
I payed off a loan and despite the money being in the account at the correct time Barclays charged me 4 days interest. I had to phone them twice and had to wait 45 minutes each time before they answered the phone, They write to me every 3 weeks saying they are looking into it. This has been going on for over 3 months.
Missed payment after informing them off a death
Informed barclays of a death in June, to recievie a letter at end of June to say any balance needs paying in 3 months, because we were not sure how long probate will be we paid with family money which barclays took out on 2nd Aug. For them to add onto his credit score that he missed payment in July. When questioned they say someone will be in touch. After 4 months someone has still not been in touch and when we ask they say the same response and have informed me there is no complaints department to escalate the issue. Very poor service when people struggle through this hard times
Truly Shocking
Truly Shocking. I bank with Starling both personally and for business. My father banks with Barclays. I have LPA access to pay bills and monitor, except I cant. Its been a year and I still cant access the APP or online banking. Error codes, " we don't recognise this, we don't recognise that. all of which was sent by Barclays. I would dump this shower of excrement were it not the fact that the LPA is set up and the admin is a nightmare. but seriously if you want a thoroughly super bank account, easy contact to ENGLISH speaking people. Use Starling
