Shocking Quality of Goods
The Zenith Chest of Drawers at £849 (#1000153581),arrived today only to discovered that the unit had either been previously heavily used then subject to water damage and returned. The quality control is zero. The drawers where cover in signifcant marks and damage and heavy dust as if the item had been standing for many months, the inside and base of the drawer unit were covered in thick oil and black stones and the base of each drawer was heavily marked and damaged. The unit smelled of heavy engineering oil from a Tanker and clothes could never be put it the drawers. I contact the Company immediatly, and issued 23 photos, shared the folder of all images to then be informed that only when the goods have been collected will they issue a refund. The damage was so extensive that no quality control had been carried out on what is supposed to be a high end product.The goods are made in India and then shipped and remarked in the UK on a glossy website so do not be fooled. I am issue a CCS to get my money back.

Beautiful light fitting and very good price for the quality. The original one we ordered was sadly damaged in delivery. They arranged to have the damaged one collected and a new one shipped out the same day at no cost-incredible customer service.

Ive bought five items in the last year and all the products are excellent. They look even better than the photos.
I had a fitting missing from my last order which we may of even lost in the rubbish.Their customer service is excellent. They spoke to me twice sent three emails and posted a new part to me. (Free of charge) Tracy especially was very helpful. This is a proper old school company whose staff are excellent. Totally recommended.

Good but not good
Beautiful items to look at - however…….. When you place an order with a reputable supplier, you naturally expect to receive high-quality products. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Atkin and Thyme fell far short of this expectation. Initially, my interaction with their customer service team seemed positive, as they promptly apologised for the poor quality of the product. However, it was clear that the chest of drawers had been severely damaged, likely during shipment to the UK, and the two bedside cabinets had improperly coated legs, with all eight legs exhibiting defects.
The drawers of the faulty cabinet fell out, causing damage to my newly varnished oak parquet floor, which I had just refinished before Christmas. As a goodwill gesture, Atkin and Thyme offered a discount on the chest of drawers to help cover the repair costs. Nevertheless, the offered discount was insufficient to cover the actual expenses of repairing the floor, which was damaged due to their defective goods.
Additionally, I had to wait two weeks for a replacement unit, which arrived with missing screws, one damaged leg, and was in an unacceptable, filthy condition. The response from their customer service team was disappointing, offering a half-hearted apology and stating they would notify their manufacturer of the issues.
When a customer reports receiving defective goods, the minimum response should be a genuine effort to rectify the situation. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend or purchase from Atkin and Thyme again.

I bought an expensive marble top…
I bought an expensive marble top sideboard. I had to wait for a few months for delivery. However, the main issue was with the delivery itself - they deliver in a way that it’s not assembled and the way it’s packed makes it almost impossible to unpack and assemble it!!!! I was almost about to have a nervous breakdown!!! Seriously, what level of IQ allows these people to make this process that much inconvenient for the customers? How could you not think about whether the customers will find it easy and convenient to unpack and assemble the item? If it’s a third party that you employ then are you not even checking it? Paying that amoint of money and you’re getting something that you still need to assemble and you get a nervous breakdown by trying to remove the bits from the packing and there is an extreme amount of boxes, tape, other packing material to dispose of!!! It’s EXTREMELY idiotic, there are no words to express a customer’s feeling!!! I’m FED UP of these types of stupid and unethical businesses that ONLY CARE ABOUT MAKING A PROFIT!!!!!!! What kind of idiots, seriously!!!!!!!

Thank you for your review. Sorry to hear of your struggles with the delivery and packaging. With the nature of our furniture especially marble pieces being vulnerable to damage during transit we have worked with all our suppliers to minimise the likelihood of damage by ensuring all packaging is robust as possible.
The delivery charge is heavily subsidised by ourselves and if it were to include assembly and removal of packaging we would need to offset this by charging customers even more for a delivery. No where on our website do we say that assembly and removal of packaging are included in the shipping cost.
If you feel we've mislead you in any way please do email info@atkinandthyme.co.uk with a screenshot from our website that shows assembly and removal of packaging being shown as a service our 3rd party delivery partner provides. An email or phone call to us before placing your order would also have allowed us to clear this matter up with you, under certain circumstances we will work with our delivery partner to provide additional services such as assembly but again this only can be arranged if contacted before the agreed delivery date.
Again we are sorry to hear of your disappointment relating to your delivery experience. Please feel free to contact us by email if you'd like to discuss this matter further.

Disappointing customer service. Ordered a nest of tables over a month ago for my daughter’s Christmas present. Now informed on the 21st January that the order cannot be fulfilled due to let down by there suppliers. Not great but would give a second chance.

Your order was placed on the 10th December for a set of Nesting tables only available for pre-order, delivery being when the stock was received at our warehouse. The container arrived in the UK on the 9th January, arriving at our warehouse towards the end of w/c 12th January. When the stock was inspected by our quality control team it was found not to be of an acceptable standard to fulfil our customers orders. As soon as we were notified by our warehouse team we sent emails explaining the situation and immediately refunded all affected customers in full. We apologise again for not being able to dispatch your item when expected and for any inconvenience or disappointment caused. We have addressed the matter with the supplier concerned. We are more than happy to honour the discount offered in our email at a future date should you wish to order an alternative item. Simply reply to the email with your new order number and we will apply the discount retrospectively. Our sincerest apologies again. All the best.

Poor customer service
Poor customer service – very inconvenient resolution
I received a 3ft reindeer Christmas light where one of the legs didn’t light up. I emailed customer services within an hour of delivery and provided photos as evidence.
It then took two days to receive a response, only to be offered 15% off. While the item was in the sale, it still cost around £100, meaning I’d be paying £85 for a faulty decoration, which isn’t acceptable. I’d much rather pay full price for a product that actually works.
They then arranged a collection without checking my availability, seemingly assuming I can sit at home 9–5 waiting for a courier. I work — that’s how I can afford to shop in the first place. The whole process feels unnecessarily inconvenient and almost like punishment for reporting a fault.
In situations like this, companies should ask themselves: what’s the least inconvenient option for the customer?
Simple alternatives would have been:
a timed collection
sending a replacement
a reasonable discount
or replacing and collecting at the same time
Instead, communication was slow and the solution offered was poor.
I won’t shop with them again.

Sorry to read your remarks concerning the service you received. Looking on our systems we received your original email on the 7th January and a response was sent to by one of our colleagues on the 8th - we feel that a response within 24 hours especially at such a busy time is acceptable. At which time you were offered a choice of partial refund, replacement or collection and full refund. You elected for a replacement and arrangements were made for the replacement to be dispatched from our warehouse and for a collection of the faulty item, In your response you mentioned how large the item was and for the collection to be expediated. We therefore arranged the collection for the next possible available day. When you later asked for clarification of the delivery date and collection a colleague replied with the information requested out of office hours from home at 6.50pm providing you with tracking information for both the delivery and collection. Your replacement was received and your collection made within 1 week of your original enquiry. We're sorry to hear that you do not wish to order from us again and apologise again for any inconvenience caused.
