Excellent attention in all process

Very disappointing experience with America Car Rental.

When I arrived to pick up my rental, I was surprised by additional fees that were not clearly communicated beforehand. I had booked through Booking.com and had insurance coverage through my reservation, but the employee at the counter would not accept it. This resulted in unexpected costs and a very frustrating experience.

What bothered me even more was the customer service. The person at the counter was rude and did not seem interested in helping me understand why my insurance was not being accepted or why I was being charged additional fees.

Afterward, I called the number provided for the location, +52 618 118 7088, hoping to get clarification. I remained calm and respectful throughout the conversation. I was not trying to argue or be rude—I genuinely wanted to understand the charges and what had happened. Unfortunately, while I was still speaking, the representative hung up on me mid-sentence.

I then contacted Booking.com directly, and the difference in customer service was significant. Their representative was professional, patient, and more than happy to listen to my concerns and help me understand my reservation and the situation.

I understand that rental companies may have their own insurance requirements and policies, but those requirements and any additional mandatory fees should be made very clear before a customer arrives at the counter. Customers should also be treated respectfully when they ask reasonable questions about unexpected charges.

Based on the hidden/unexpected fees, the refusal to accept the insurance associated with my Booking.com reservation, the treatment I received at the counter, and being hung up on when I called for clarification, I would not recommend this location.

Excelente servicio; muy rapido, atentos y muy claros, destacandose la atencion de Marian Tun Martinez muy amable, alegre y con excelente actitud.

Reserve una SUV a finales de Agosto, en linea me dieron clave de confirmacion y precio. Al querer confirmar con la agencia dias antes del inicio de renta me indican que lo que tenia era una ¨cotizacion¨ y no una reserva. Pedi entonce spor telefono que me reservaran lo que habia solicitado. Mi primera sorpresa, era el doble de lo que originalmente habia visto en linea de 6800 a mas de 14 mil pesos. Me indicaron que debia incluir todos los seguros e impuestos. Mi segunda sorpresa, al llegar a rentar me indican que el seguro por "daños menores " no esta incluido, que si queria incluirlo..... pregunte QUE NO ESTABAN INCLUIDOS TODOS LOS SEGUROS? .....muy mal trato de la persona en oficina, me dijo que si queria si no, pues no rentara ..... sin otra opcion tuve que tomar la SUV .

Terrible experience with America Car Rental in Monterrey.

I booked through Booking.com + Booking insurance, so I was already 100% covered. At the counter, America Car Rental still forced me to purchase their local insurance: an extra USD 414.

I was clearly told that if I refused to pay, they would not give me the car.

It was 10 PM, I had just arrived after 3 flights and around 20 hours of travel. Of course you end up paying because you have no choice.

Refusing to release the car unless the customer pays an additional USD 414 once they have already arrived at the counter looks very much like commercial extortion.

USD 414 forced on me.

If this happens to you, do not let it slide: keep all the evidence and file a complaint with PROFECO, the Mexican authority responsible for combating fraudulent commercial practices and request a chargeback through Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

Never again. Avoid America Car Rental.

Expérience scandaleuse avec America Car Rental à Monterrey.

Réservation faite via Booking.com + assurance Booking donc j'étais déjà couvert à 100% : Au comptoir, America Car Rental m’a pourtant imposé leur assurance locale : 414 USD supplémentaires.

On m’a clairement dit que si je refusais de payer, on ne me donnerait pas la voiture.

Il était 22h, j’arrivais après 3 vols et environ 20 heures de voyage cumulées. Évidemment qu’on finit par payer parce qu'on n'a pas le choix.

Refuser de remettre la voiture si le client ne paie pas 414 USD supplémentaires une fois arrivé sur place, ça ressemble sérieusement à de l’extorsion commerciale.

414 USD imposés de force.

Si cela vous arrive, ne vous laissez pas faire : conservez toutes les preuves et déposez une plainte auprès de PROFECO, l’autorité mexicaine contre les pratiques commerciales frauduleuses et demandez un chargeback auprès de Visa, Mastercard ou American Express.

Plus jamais America Car Rental. À fuir.

Experiencia escandalosa con America Car Rental en Monterrey.

Reservé a través de Booking.com + el seguro de Booking, así que ya estaba cubierto al 100%. Al llegar al mostrador, America Car Rental aun así me obligó a contratar su seguro local: 414 USD adicionales.

Me dijeron claramente que, si me negaba a pagar, no me entregarían el vehículo.

Eran las 22:00, acababa de llegar después de 3 vuelos y unas 20 horas de viaje. Evidentemente, uno termina pagando porque no tiene otra opción.

Negarse a entregar el vehículo si el cliente no paga 414 USD adicionales una vez que ya está allí se parece muchísimo a una extorsión comercial.

414 USD impuestos a la fuerza.

Si les pasa esto, no se dejen: conserven todas las pruebas y presenten una queja ante PROFECO, la autoridad mexicana encargada de combatir las prácticas comerciales fraudulentas y soliciten un contracargo a través de Visa, Mastercard o American Express.

Nunca más. Eviten America Car Rental.

Terrible experience. They tried to rip me off and I walked away.
Their website advertises a “0% deductible” so you think you’re fully covered. You’re not. It’s a trap.
I showed up at the counter with a reservation already made and the pressure started immediately: if I didn’t buy extra insurance for tires, rims, and windows, I would be personally liable for almost any damage. They made it sound like leaving without it was insane. That “extra coverage” nearly doubled the price I had already seen online.
I refused. I cancelled on the spot and went to another company.
This isn’t a misunderstanding. It’s bait-and-switch: they lure you in with a cheap “fully covered” rate, then change the rules at the desk to charge you twice as much.
Other companies like Mex Rent a Car and Europcar show the real total up front. No last-minute shakedown. No fake “0% deductible” that vanishes the second you arrive.
I felt scammed and cornered. I’m glad I didn’t rent from them. Don’t give them your money.
Avoid America Car Rental at all costs.

I go to Mexico atleast once a month and always rent from America Car Rental. Never any hidden fees or surprises. Also they are very responsive on Whats app for any questions you may have!

Muy buena experiencia. Todo el proceso fue fácil y rápido. El staff muy profesional y amables. Definitivamente volveré usar esta compañía para mi renta de carros cuando vuelva a mi lindo mexico!

Unfortunately, the local firm that America Car Rental uses out of Sofia Airport in Bulgaria are currently running a scam operation to defraud customers of their insurance excess deposits by claiming "new" damage to their already delapidated cars upon return. The story changes once you involve your bank and card company to one where you have apparently taken out an expensive insurance policy with them. I would avoid using out of Sofia Airport at all costs if you want to avoid being scammed.

Nunca me imagine que en la estacion del tren maya hubiera una arrendadora, fue una grata sorpresa, la renta del vehiculo fue rápido y sin montos ocultos, y el servicio tambien incluía una vez regresado el vehículo la llevada al aeropuerto de cancun

La cereza del pastel por la cual rentaría siempre con ellos fue que mi papá dejó olvidado su celular, Juan el supervisor me marco para decirme que Saul (la persona que nos trajo al aeropuerto) le habia reportado el suceso y que si aun me daba tiempo de recogerlo afuera me lo podian traer o resguardar hasta que regresaramos de nuestro viaje.

Asi que la compañia aparte de ser eficiente, es honrada!
