Aflac Buyer Beware

I have subscribed to Aflac for over 20 years ($120 + per month) and for my employees. I just had a claim, for the first time, for two (2) nights for an Aneurysm. Sent ALL doctors information, surgery and hospital billings. Aflac would owe me all of $500+/- for this $250,000 medical bill and 20 plus year of $120/mo ($28,000 + in premiums paid).
Aflac rejected my claim until I proved this was not a "per-existing" health problem!!! Really how the devil do you prove you did not have a health issue 20+ years ago!!
One More Insurance company that is selling nothing but taking your money!

I’ve had Aflac for over ten years

I’ve had Aflac for over ten years. I got hurt on march 20. I filed a claim finally after all the paperwork and junk they made me do on the 1st of April. Today is the 13th of April. It is still in review and not a word from them. This is not right. I broke 3 ribs and haven’t been able to go back to work. They said 2 to 3 days to process. But it’s been 2 weeks and still nothing. I suggest going elsewhere for insurance as I will cancel my policy if and once I get paid for my claim.

Don't waste your money on Aflac.

I filed a cancer claim on March 4th 2026. It is April 10th 2026 and the claim is still under review. Aflac says it takes 7 to 10 days to process and approve a claim. It has been over 30 business days since I filed the claim. I had to re-upload the same original documents on March 17th, 2026. (17 business days ago)Their representatives are polite but basically have nothing they can do and cannot explain the delay.

Imagine working for a company knowing you can have 0 care because the whole AFLAC as a whole dont care the most stressful dealings you could ever have and its never no one fault how could that be???????????? Aflac agent's actions cancelled a policy without the client's knowledge or permission

This is bar none the most disorganized organization I have ever had to deal with. I am helping out a loved one that has had an insurance policy with Aflac for several years.

To our surprise, her policy was cancelled by an Aflac agent after we called to make a payment before the due date to maintain her policy. On that call the agent said she was covered and all was well, but we found out later that the agent's actions cancelled her policy without our knowledge or permission.

Since then I have called Aflac several times to fix the mistake and every single agent I have spoken to says we have to do something different to reinstate her policy. One of the agents asked for us to write a letter to Alfac and fax the voided Aflac cancellation check. We did that.

A few weeks later I called back to check on things and another agent said, the previous agent should have told us to fill out an additional form and send that in to be reinstated. We then filled out that additional form and faxed it to Aflac.

I checked in again with Alfac today and that agent said we had to send in that same form that we sent a month ago a second time because the previous agent before her didn't send it to the correct department.

There has never been any follow through whatsoever, no accountability, and apparently they can cancel a clients insurance without their knowledge or permission.

The Aflac agents have been giving us conflicting advise and it doesn't seem to matter that this problem was due to an agent cancelling her insurance without her knowledge or permission in the first place.

Our experience has been - If you are a client with Aflac and they make a mistake, YOU, the client have to correct Aflac's mistakes. If an agent cancels your policy without your knowledge or permission, that's your problem. If an agent gives incomplete advise to correct their mistake, that's your problem. If you fax something to Aflac and the agent doesn't send it to the right department, that's your problem. That is the general attitude of employees there behind the professional veneer.

There is no sincere interest in making things right and they could care less about how much or how long their client is inconvenienced due to their mistakes.

Mistakes do happen, but trustworthy companies train their agents to help their clients. If a trustworthy company realizes one of their agents makes a mistake, they do what they can to make it right or at the very least connect with you if anything else is needed to put things back on course. If I hadn't called to check in a few times, my loved one would have thought she was covered. Not trustworthy behavior.

Doesn’t care about their long time customers…

I have been an Aflac customer for over 30 years. Aflac, I’ve been waiting for payment on a claim since November. We have called numerous times and every time the person says I will expedite this to our special cancer claims adjusters or whatever they’re called. B.S. Here it is March 6th and still nothing. I have paid my premiums for over 30 years and this is the way I get treated? I don’t think so. Now it’s your turn to pay me what I have paid for all these years and deserve. PAY UP!!! We have provided everything we’ve been asked to so it’s time for you to do you part. Do your job. I am
tired of waiting.

If I could give zero stars I would. Come AFLAC do the right thing!

I will never give another dollar to Aflac

I was an Aflac customer for several years, but I cancelled all my policies after they repeatedly refused to pay my dental claims. After multiple failed attempts to get the issue resolved, I called to cancel—and the customer service experience was just as disappointing.

The agent was rude from the start, speaking to me like I was bothering her. After processing the cancellation, she hesitated to give me a reference number and then abruptly hung up. No courtesy, no professionalism.

Between denied claims and cold, dismissive customer service, Aflac made it clear they don’t value their customers. That’s why I left.

in my top 3 for worst business experience in the last 10 years

My experience with this company has been largely negative. I can't comment on how well they did for covering people with insurance, but my experience with them on the administrative side has been among my worst dealings with any business.

I'm a dentist and we were using Aflac for my employees to use pre-tax money to buy supplemental insurance plans. I was told it would not cost me "anything" but it ended up costing me plenty with time, hassles/stress, and getting charged after employees were no longer employed here. Here's what did not go well:

1) The reps. I've had two. The first one would spend tons of time talking to my employees when they were supposed to be working. I would let them meet here just to be nice, but she took hours with my employees. I don't even know how it took so long to sign my employees up. Even my employees complained to me that it took way too long.
I haven't had much experience with the current rep. I told her my current problem about still being billed for an employee who is no longer employed here and she said she would look into it but later told me she had no access to the system and would have someone call me next week? REALLY? The reps seem to have complete power to sign us up for all these services, but no power to make any changes in regards to billing. I don't get that.

2) The online access was hard to use. I'm quite literate computers/tech and I had a difficult time using it. Most recently I'm completely unable to access it with any of my former login information.

3) I had an employee retire 8 months ago. I noticed about 6 months later that Aflac was still pulling money from my account to pay her premiums. I asked the employee if she was aware of still receiving benefits. She said she was not and hadn't planned to continue it after stopping work here. I called Aflac and explained the situation. They said they would stop the ACH transfers and send me a refund for my overpayments. That was a month ago and I still haven't gotten anything from them. The only reason I learned about it this week was the rep calling me to try to sell me more services (and then I checked my bank account and found another ACH transfer had been done).

I just finished talking to my bank and putting a block on future Aflac transfers. I will never use this company's services again. I would suggest if you are a business owner looking for this type of service to look elsewhere.

Was in the hospital for three days and sent all of the paperwork to them and heard nothing from them. Called them and they said they needed the paperwork I had already sent and heard nothing. Gave up and will cancel my coverage with them.

Just got a letter from AFLAC notifying me that due to data breach, my personal information including my address, SSN and other critical information was leaked. And they DID NOT offer any credit monitoring support. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM EVER. They will take your money and data and not protect it properly, or help protect you when it's leaked. Screw them!

My Honest Experience as an Agent with Aflac — Extremely Disappointing

My experience with Aflac as an agent was extremely disappointing. The company operates on commission-only pay, yet managers consistently treat agents as if they were salaried employees. We were required to attend endless sales meetings every week, with expectations and pressure that made it feel like a full-time job — but with no base pay at all.

There was also a clear lack of transparency during onboarding. The company never mentioned the $90 appointment fee, which only appears later when you leave — unless they quietly deduct it from your commissions without proper disclosure.

The overall work environment was discouraging, the demands were unrealistic, and the compensation structure did not justify the amount of time and effort required. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering joining Aflac ask every detail in writing, especially regarding pay, expectations, and fees. Don’t waste your time, unless you already have strong connections with large corporations that specifically want Aflac.

Customer Last approach and no common sense rules.

As ceo brought aflac to 2 non-profits and member for 23 years with no claims.then broke front tooth off and w/I 72 hrs went to dentist who pulled root out and replaced with flapper. I submitted claim and denist report denied with no money for claim. I canceled cancer and accident policy. Then ask for refund of auto payment from Nov 7,2025 date canceled for rest of the month. Received for cancer policy, but told no for accident policy. Called agents understood and said decisions were made by others. We are only talking about 60 dollars. Highly disappointed with aflec and everyone I tell agreed, including legal counsel. I will tell everyone, including companies that aflac sales people are not to be trusted. Have been told by many that aflac is losing customers due to denials and company greed

No heart from aflac just their customer last rules.

The worst company I have dealt with in a long time

I have had Aflac for 3 years and not once have I received a payment check from them. I have submitted 4 claims and they always deny it for some reason. The process of submitting, reviewing and getting an answer from them is extremely slow. The second to last claim I made, I had to keep calling every week to find out a status, as they do not post it on the website. Why not if I submitted the claim online? The last claim has been the most frustrating of them all as they made account inactive due a glitch of theirs (supposedly they are switching systems), so they lost my account. My employer, whom takes Aflac payments out of my paycheck biweekly on behalf of Aflac, has provided to them all my details again, and I have literally called for 6 months straight, once a week, and besides getting bad customer service (and several unprofessional reps), I am always told the account admin has to reactivate it. It is now mid-December and they have not resolved anything and I have not been able to submit my claim. Watch them never process it because they will then blame too much time has passed or something ridiculous. I will never waste my money ever again on this company with horrible workers. I am very happy my company has moved to a new Hospital Indemnity provider in 2026 so I never have to deal with this company ever again.

SLOW process

Went with AFLAC accident coverage through work because I was under the impression they are fast to process and pay claims. WRONG, they move extremely SLOW. Glad I found this out when I did because it's open enrollment at work and I definitely will not be paying for this coverage again.

Not so great this go round …

I had Aflac years ago and had a great experience. This time it has only been for a short period of time. I didn’t care to keep it due to the lack of response and communication from my agent. She was helpful with responding to my concerns prior to my policy starting. Once it started, I would get an excuse to how busy she was. That was AFTER sending another follow up days later. SMH

Please be Honest on claim

I have an Aflac Hospital Indemnity Insurance policy and recently tried to file a claim for my spouse’s hospitalization. To my surprise, Aflac requested that the hospital bill be submitted in the UB-04 format. Unfortunately, most hospitals in the U.S. do not provide this document directly to patients — it’s typically used internally for billing insurance companies.

When I contacted the hospital, they told me they could only provide their standard patient bill, not the UB-04 form. This made it impossible to complete my claim, even though all legitimate documents were provided.

It feels unfair that Aflac continues to require a format that regular consumers can’t easily access, which makes it very difficult for honest policyholders to receive the benefits they’re entitled to. I hope Aflac reviews this process and allows claims to be filed with standard hospital bills issued to patients.

Terrible Company

Try to make a claim with these crooks. All they do is stall and make excuses. They want ridiculous forms filled out. Agents never call back. Take your premium money and invest it. Save yourself the grief.

Poor website

My company uses aflac to manage short term disability claims. I receive emails stating "action required". After logging in there is no indication of what action is required. It's very frustrating. The website is difficult and not intuitive.
