Pathetic service avoid them

Honestly, call yourselves "Hell for Students" instead. I’ve had nothing but stress since I moved in. They charge a fortune for "student homes" housing but can’t even get the basics right.

On my first day, they gave me a broken key card. When I asked for a new one, the manager told me they didn’t have any spares. How does a massive student housing company not have spare keys? I ended up stuck outside for hours in the freezing cold and rain. To make it worse, the "emergency" guard couldn’t even help me because management never bothered to put my details on the system, even though I’d been chasing them for weeks about my contract.

On top of being locked out, my room had a massive water leak just 3 days after I moved in. The whole place was a mess. Their customer service is pathetic—the manager who was supposed to fix my paperwork just resigned and left everything in a shambles.

They are the first ones to demand rent on time and threaten you with interest if you’re late, but when it’s their fault and they fail to provide a safe place to live, you get nothing. Absolute scammers looting students. Save your money and go literally anywhere else.

NO Offer No Payment

We booked student accommodation through Wearhomes with Appolloworks for our son based on a “No Offer No Payment” policy. Unfortunately, the university admission did not go through, and we requested a refund.
Initially we were told we qualified for a full refund, but the process later changed and we were offered a partial refund and were forced to accept partial refund of a little above 50% of the money we paid. The refund took several months and required multiple follow-ups and a formal complaint before it was processed.
The deposit was eventually returned through the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and the agreed rent refund was paid. While the issue was resolved in the end, we lost a lot, the delay and lack of clear timelines made the process stressful.
I hope this feedback helps improve communication and refund processing for future students and parents, To honour the no offer no payment on the website.

Dreadful Customer Service

Dreadful (non-existent) Head Office customer service. I have sent 3 emails to the company on the same matter over multiple weeks/months, with no reply, and, as a result, also sent a letter by post, still with no reply. An extremely frustrating organisation to try to deal with.

This company is so unprofessional and…

This company is so unprofessional and all they care about is is getting money! My daughter moved into their properties last September in Brighton! I cannot begin to tell you the issues my daughter had and she reported all these issues to the on site Manager that seems she is missing a brain cell! My daughter paid to live here and got rat/mice infested premises! Universal door locks that allowed one maintenance man free range to enter all these premises which happened on several occasions! No fully working kitchen! No adequate furniture in communal rooms! Shower was out of order from the day they moved in 9 people sharing an area with one bathroom! Room was disgraceful and dirty when she moved in and I had to clean it! There was also SEVERE safety issues with the site! My daughter moved out in December 2025! Trying to speak to the waste of space Debbie on site who lacks so much intelligence! Have asked to speak to someone above her who she refuses to give details of even though this is a business! Rung the main line several times and not getting no help! These people not only had my daughters room rent paid for a month after she left they are FEFUSING to communicate and release my daughters deposit! Absolute Thieves! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Not honouring cashback incentive. Read for redress!

Hi everyone. I've read these reviews and my daughter is in a similar position regarding withholding of money. An incentive to book early for September 2025/2026 for £500 at Foundry Courtyard in Glasgow still hasn't been honoured one year later. Every month, told it's going to be applied the next month. And she's not the only one! After taking legal advice this is what you all do - submit a Simple Procedure to the Scottish Court. Really easy to do online. You need to pay around £123 to submit but you will get that back in the judgement under court costs. You can claim this way for anything under £5000.Their business details are easily available under Companies House so no running around for info. I also suggest you claim extra for stress/anxiety of pursuing for months, any expenses for travel if you want to appear in person in court (flights/hotel stay etc) and the courts also add interest, and that is valued at the money you are owed and per month. As long as you have all your proof in order (ie deposit payment proof/emails from them, of which I have dozens) this is a no hassle, painfree solution! Also as well as doing the Simple Procedure you can report them for misleading advertising/unfair trading via the Trading Standards (go to Citizens Advice Scotland) and the Advertising Standards Authority. You can also escalate through universities and accommodation partners when it comes to deposit/incentives as most universities have an accommodation office and Student Services/Welfare. Also Homes for Students (which Prestige now is after being sold just before Christmas) is a members of ANUK. File a formal Code breach through them asap to make them aware of what's going on. Under guidelines you can complain that: A financial inducement was offered and not honoured/deposit not returned; repeated assurances were given; complaint handling has been inadequate. The National Code requires: transparent marketing; honest advertising; fair complaint handling. Universities look at accreditation status and breaches affect renewal. Again, if you are in a situation where deposits haven't been returned or incentives haven't been honoured, there are easy ways for redress rather than being ignored month after month! Poor maintenance of Newarke Point. Problems with broken shower door, burst pipe, water stoppage, sewage leaked from pipes. Health ahd Safety of students compromised. I would do less than one star if I could!

We understand how disruptive maintenance issues, such as plumbing faults or water interruptions, can be and appreciate how frustrating this would have been for residents. In January, there was a water outage affecting the building, which was resolved within a few days. Our on-site team kept residents updated throughout and worked to restore services as quickly as possible.

We take all health and safety concerns extremely seriously. Our records do not show any confirmed sewage incidents linked to this matter, and the water outage was not related to sewage. Any reported maintenance issues, including shower doors or pipework requiring repair, are addressed promptly by our team in line with our maintenance procedures.

Providing a safe and well-maintained environment for residents is always our priority, and feedback like this helps us continue to improve.

Office in Harrogate terrible you would…

Office in Harrogate terrible you would not believe it belongs to the uks biggest housing company, electrics are dangerous and the roof is leaking the lift doesn’t work so access for disabled people is denied would not like to think I was working here 8hrs a day it would totally wreck my mental state I feel sorry for for the staff that are treated like 3rd class citizens

Don’t book here

Don’t book here if you want a cash back code. We had a few options for our final year at Uni but after seeing a £400 cashback code, which we were told we would get, we booked through HomesforStudents at The Forge. Fast forwards to today and after countless emails - ‘you’ll get it by January’ we still haven’t received it.

Poor service, communications and major renovations during term time

Locked out of my apartment as they’ve decided to redo the floor to the building entrance during term time. No-one could gain any access between 9-2 but when I came back they’d extended this till 5 without warning. Just a notice on the door and locked. No customer service as no-one ever gets back to you. Mouldy bathroom and kitchen on arrival in September so had to clean myself. Still not fixed the lift since September and it is January now. Still not replaced the broken chairs in the kitchen. If you can, book with Unite as they maintained the building before and were great. Avoid Grange Lane Leicester.

While residents were notified of planned works, the extension of access restrictions on the day was not communicated as clearly as it should have been by the contractors. We have since apologised to residents and addressed this with the contractors involved.

We recognise the ongoing impact of the lift being out of service. Work has been approved and is in progress, although this does take time due to bespoke parts. We’re also sorry to hear about the condition of the apartment on arrival, which is not the standard we aim to provide. Helpline completely useless

Helpline completely useless, staff in building not at all helpful as I am trying to sort out a rent over payment problem and breach of contract. Nobody seems to be in communication with anybody else and this lack of coordination shows.

Great Staffs

I love my room at Hammil Terrace.As an international student settling in was super easy found very helpful staffs. I am grateful for a good affordable room that works for me.

Building and Area is nice but disregard for students especially cleanliness

While the building and area is nice, the room spacious and the front desk nice, the general disregard by management for students is concerning. When we moved in no deep cleaning was done beforehand, all carpets stank unbearably, windows were dirty, hair and grime in sinks, even cleaning equipment was disgusting so we had to but new ones our of our own pocket; washers and dryers were constantly broken and most recently during a fire inspection without notice our rooms were opened and construction done with debris left inside and personal items moved out of the way.

Avoid Apollo Works Coventry

Avoid Apollo Works Coventry. If you are a student never, I repeat never think of living in Apollo Works Coventry. All facilities were never in good condition. Lift is always spoilt, gate is always spoilt, most washing machines are in bad condition. Rooms are never as you see them in pictures. No enough facilities. And overall Horrible, rude staff. They treat people like they don’t matter.
Horrible experience.

ABSOLUTELY APPALLING - DON'T DESERVE 1 STAR

ABSOLUTELY APPALLING. My daughter booked with the previous owners of Selly Oak Court, Birmingham on the proviso that it would be an all female flat due to religious/cultural requirements. This was upheld until these cowboys took over the accomodation and allocated males in the flat, with no notice or communication (it only became apparent when one of them was exiting a bedroom!).
Maintenance issues were also logged on the 22nd Sept which as of yet are still unresolved. An alternative flat was agreed but needed maintenance (as well as mould) and was supposed to be ready 29th Sept, as of yet still not ready. In addition to this more maintenance issues have been reported and are still unresolved. To make matters worse, she was advised to contact the Area Manager, which she did on the 6th, no response, I then followed this up yesterday and still no response.
Absolutely no regard for the student experience, supporting students mental health and wellbeing or upholding cultural/religious needs
