**Cheap rental, but the saving was not worth the problems**

I rented a Mercedes A-Class for 21 days through Localrent, with Voyage as the actual rental company.

The problems started on the first day. I reported engine/oil warning issues and a brake pad warning. The following day, their employee Andrii collected the car and took it to service.

Later in the rental, the Mercedes showed a red battery warning. I contacted Andrii and was told to continue driving it. A few days later, the car completely broke down while I was on my way to golf.

The breakdown cost me a significant part of a vacation day. I also spent around three hours with Andrii trying to deal with the broken car, attempting to get it running and then travelling to Torrevieja to get another vehicle.

When Andrii tried to use jump-start cables, he discovered that the bonnet could not be opened. I had never had any reason to open the bonnet myself.

The final replacement was a Toyota C-HR. The baby booster seat from my booking was also missing.

After the holiday, I then spent a lot more time going back and forth with Voyage on WhatsApp regarding compensation and the return of my deposit.

Voyage eventually offered €92 compensation plus €15 for the missing booster seat. However, they also charged €70 for the bonnet latch, arguing that because it worked before my rental and did not work afterwards, it was my responsibility. I do not agree with this. The Mercedes had mechanical problems from the beginning, had already been taken to service, later suffered a complete breakdown, and the bonnet issue was discovered by their own employee during the recovery attempt.

They also charged €73 for fuel in the Mercedes because the vehicle was recovered with a low fuel level after it broke down.

The employee helping me was friendly and tried to help, so this review is not about him personally. My issue is the overall reliability of the vehicle and how much holiday time and time afterwards was spent dealing with problems that I did not expect when renting a car.

Voyage is cheaper than many alternatives, but based on my experience I would rather pay a little more next time and avoid spending my vacation dealing with warning lights, breakdowns, replacement cars, deposit disputes and continuous WhatsApp communication.

Tried to sell extra insurance via whatsapp and excessive contact, but it was already taken. When they realised the extra insurance was taken with Discover Cars (broker) they still tried to sell their extra insurance.
Have claimed damage when there is none, even their "evidence" is dodgy.
Have charged a cleaning fee for some beach sand (I always hire cars and go to the beach, this has never happened before with any other company).

This may take some weeks to resolve but I want to ensure Voyage's response is not in my opinion the end of this matter and to carefully consider ever using this company.

Vorsicht!!!! Das ist eine Betrüger Firma. Ich habe schon sehr viele Autos weltweit gemietet, aber so eine Betrugsmasche wie hier bei Voyage Rent Car in Valencia habe ich noch nicht erlebt. Das Auto kam, nach dem ich 40 min am Flughafen warten musste, schon mit vielen Kratzer und Dellen an. Die Vorderstossstange war auch beschädigt bzw. das Auto hatte einen Unfall. Dies konnte mann genau sehen an der Flucht der Fugen. Nichts war fachmännisch repariert. Ich habe dafür Fotos und Videos.
Bei der Abgabe wurde angeblich ein Neuer Schaden entdeckt. Am der besagten Stossstange, Tür usw.
Nun wird die Kaution einbehalten für die angebliche Reparatur + ein Ladekabel für 40€ was nicht vorhanden war.
Ich habe es bei Discover Cars.com gebucht
Deshalb bezahlt lieber 10€ mehr aber ihr habt kein Stress und wird nicht betrogen.

A day before our rental period, I received all the necessary instructions through the whatsapp, including where we needed to meet. A friendly member of the team was there to meet us and hand over the car.

The car was actually a little more spacious than the one we had booked and, as an added bonus, it was a hybrid, which made it very economical to drive. The car did have a higher mileage and a few existing scratches and marks, but that didn’t bother us at all. Most importantly, it drove perfectly and everything worked exactly as it should.

As for the service, we have nothing but praise. Everything was smooth, clear, and friendly from start to finish. We would definitely rent a car from Voyage Car Rental again in the future.

Simply HORRENDOUS

Strongly advise that you avoid. I rented a car back in May and was shocked at how poor every aspect of this out fit was.
Had to collect car out of hours which was fine. Car was located at the back of a dark airport parking yard. The car had 104,000kms on it and was in a condition that you might expect for such an age.
They had refused to/ failed to provide me with a pre-rental condition report despite me asking on 3 seperate occasions.
I returned the car a week later to the same location during working hours. The employee refused to inspect the car but took receipt of it.
2 days later they issued me an invoice which included line items for 2 generic damages. I refused to accept. They invoiced costs me for 2 seperate minor scratches where for repair costs of £300 for each. The quotes differed by 1p !!!
Even though I had luckily taken out full insurance prior to rental I refused to submit a claim despite them continually pressing me to do so.

They continued to avoid / reject my requests for proof, formal quotes from repair companies etc. Obviously, they take payment (€1000) pre-rental (not just a holding payment)

Finally I just recovered the monies they withheld via my credit card company.

I booked this through DiscoverCars who proved unable to support me.

Used voyage at Alicante. Accused of scratches that were never there took nearly 500€ of my deposit. Scammers be careful as it seems to have happened before

This was, without doubt, the worst car rental experience I've ever had.

Before the rental even started, we were asked to pay additional money, only to be told later that it had been a mistake.
Collecting the car was chaotic. The keys were left on a tyre in a public car park, and there was no member of staff present to verify the vehicle's condition.
We found several areas of damage that were not recorded on the condition report provided by the company.
Communication was almost entirely through WhatsApp, and responses were slow or non-existent.
We were given little or no clear information about where or how to return the vehicle until only a few hours before our flight.
We were instructed to return the car in an unloading area at the airport, risking a parking fine, and were then made to wait for up to 30 minutes.
After being told following the inspection that everything was fine, we were later sent an invoice for alleged damage. We then had to open a Visa dispute to recover our deposit.

Recommendations

If you decide to rent from this company:

Photograph and video every part of the vehicle, inside and out, before collecting it and again before returning it.
Photograph every document you receive.
Photograph the fuel gauge when returning the car.
Keep copies of every WhatsApp conversation and any other communication.

Communication throughout the rental was almost entirely via WhatsApp, with very little formal documentation. This made it much harder to keep track of events and dispute issues later.

On the day of the return, we were no longer able to contact the company through WhatsApp.

If you're considering renting from this company, I'd strongly recommend thinking twice. If you still have the option to cancel and book elsewhere, based on my experience, I would do so.

In my lifetime I've rented many, many cars. This one tops the list — for all the wrong reasons.
A few days before the rental, they phoned us to sell extra insurance, even though I'd already bought it separately — so either their records weren't being checked properly, or it's a routine upsell call regardless of what you've already purchased.
A couple of days before pickup, I was sent a charge of €72.32 by email labelled only as "booking payment" — no further explanation, and separate from the deposit I'd already paid. When I queried what it was for, I was told it was a mistake on their part and that no payment was needed — but only after I pushed back myself.
Pickup itself was a nightmare and unmanned — the keys were just left on the car tyre, with no staff present to hand the car over properly. The pickup method and location were only sent a few hours beforehand, since they have no office at the airport, so you're almost boarding the plane not knowing what's happening next. Once at the airport car park, we inspected the car and noticed several instances of damage that weren't noted on any handover report, so we photographed everything ourselves. a
At the car park, we had more trouble: the parking ticket's magnetic strip, which had been left in the car, couldn't be read at the payment machine, and we ended up paying the full €28 fee out of pocket. I later discovered that if this happens to you, don't just pay at the machine — go to the cashier in person, as it may save you money. Either way, don't leave the parking machine receipt in the car when you return it — it's best not to leave anything behind that could later be misused.
On return, after inspection, we were told everything was fine, but no paperwork was given to close things out. That alone was suspicious.
Also, make sure you photograph the petrol gauge on return.
Communication throughout the rental was via WhatsApp with no formal documentation, which made every one of these issues harder to track and dispute. If you're considering this company, I'd strongly suggest you think twice — photograph and video every inch of the car, inside and out, before and after, get everything in writing, and keep a record of all WhatsApp messages, since you'll probably never meet a person until the car is returned.
On the day of return, apparently, you won't be able to reach them via WhatsApp anymore.
But honestly — if you're still able to cancel and rebook elsewhere, do it. You've been warned.

Avoid this company at all costs.
My experience with AUTOVOYAGE RENT was extremely disappointing and stressful.
The biggest issue is that the €1,200 "security deposit" was not simply pre-authorized or temporarily blocked on my card, as is common with reputable car rental companies. Instead, it was charged as an actual transaction from the very beginning, meaning the money left my bank account immediately.
After I returned the vehicle, the company claimed there was damage and refused to refund my deposit. Recovering my money took months of emails, complaints, and persistence.
Although I eventually got my €1,200 back from the bank, the entire experience caused unnecessary stress, wasted countless hours, and completely destroyed my trust in renting cars.
