Tout d’abord, nous tenons à préciser que la visite du Mont-Saint-Michel était absolument fantastique et vaut vraiment le détour. C’est un endroit magnifique que nous recommandons sans hésitation.
Malheureusement, notre expérience à l’Auberge Saint-Pierre a été tout à fait différente.
Nous avons demandé une crêpe à la banane sans chocolat. Refus catégorique : il fallait commander exactement ce qui était indiqué sur la carte. Nous trouvons cela assez surprenant pour une demande aussi simple.
Les assiettes ont ensuite été posées sur la table de manière très brusque et, surtout, les frites étaient complètement froides.
Au moment de payer, nous avons demandé où nous pouvions régler. Une dame plus âgée nous a alors montré la caisse du doigt en criant presque : « CAISSE ! » Aucun sourire, aucune politesse, aucune impression d’être les bienvenus.
Nous sommes conscients que Le Mont-Saint-Michel accueille énormément de touristes et que beaucoup ne reviendront probablement jamais. Mais cela ne dispense pas d’un minimum de respect et de gentillesse envers les clients. Un sourire et un peu de courtoisie ne coûtent pourtant rien.
Nous n’avons évidemment pas laissé de pourboire.
Le Mont-Saint-Michel : absolument magnifique et à visiter.
L’Auberge Saint-Pierre : malheureusement, une expérience que nous ne souhaitons pas renouveler.

For visitors with more flexibility, the low season — especially late autumn and winter — can indeed offer a much quieter and very different experience.

Very poor ticket office assistance, very very busy, Abbey open hours changed without notice.
Firstly it was very very busy, secondly the Abbey without notice was only open between 13.30pm and 17.00pm when the standard times were 9.30am to 18.00pm.
This caused chaos at the Abbey entrance with hundreds of people expecting entry but having it delayed by hours.
Because we had a busy itinerary we decided to book on the day.
My booking was digital hence I was requested on the booking portal to chooses a date and time. I managed to do this but due to virtually zero mobile signal couldn’t download the actual tickets. The hosts were less than helpful, shrugging and saying they didn’t recognise the booking and my only option was to buy tickets again in the day. Eventually I managed to find a ticket office staff member who indicated that there was Wi-Fi local to the ticket office. I eventually downloaded my tickets. My booking clearly stated ticket plus audio guide. The staff member would not recognise this part of my ticket, indicated there would be an additional charge and refuse to discuss further.
So all in all a significant example of jobs worth assistants but worse than that to not want to help and quite comfortable to insist on imposing an extra charge when my booking indicated an audio guide was included.
Maybe I was unlucky but it took 4 conversations and lots of different queues to access my tickets.
Zero help, zero flexibility and quite happy to charge twice for a pre-booked service, and there was I thinking I was the customer?

We are sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify several important points regarding your visit.
On the day concerned, the Abbey exceptionally opened at 1:30 pm. This information was clearly displayed in several places before the visit: on the announcement banner at the top of our website, directly on the Abbey ticket product page, and customers who had indicated a planned visit time before 1:30 pm were also specifically informed.
Regarding access to the tickets, we also clearly recommend downloading them before arriving at Mont Saint-Michel. Mobile reception can be unstable on the Mont, particularly on very busy days, which is why this information is displayed prominently on our website. Your tickets were correctly available in your online booking area and could be downloaded once an internet connection was available.
There also appears to have been some confusion regarding the audio guide. The option included with your booking was our smartphone audio introduction to the history of Mont Saint-Michel. It was available for download directly in your booking area, immediately below the button used to download your entrance tickets, and could be accessed in the language of your choice.
This is different from the Abbey audio guide available on site, which is a separate product and requires an additional payment. This distinction is also explained on the ticket product page before purchase.
Had all the information provided with the booking been reviewed before the visit, you would therefore have seen that the Abbey was exceptionally opening at 1:30 pm that day, that tickets should preferably be downloaded before reaching Mont Saint-Michel, and that your smartphone audio guide was already available directly in your booking area.
Thousands of visitors use this same system every month without difficulty, and in this case all the services included in your booking were correctly made available.
We nevertheless regret that the combination of an exceptionally busy day, the delayed Abbey opening and poor mobile reception made your visit more stressful than expected.
Don’t use this site
Don’t use this site. It’s not the official site, even though it claims to be. You will pay more than you need to. If you order the audio guide, they will only send you an audio guide in French that you need to listen to on your iPhone. The ticket office at mt st Michel has proper audio guides and it’s much cheaper.

Thank you for your review. However, we must correct several inaccurate statements in your comment.
First, we have never claimed to be the “official website” of Mont Saint-Michel. In fact, there is no single official website for Mont Saint-Michel as a whole. Mont Saint-Michel is a village and tourist destination made up of different sites and services, including the Abbey.
Second, your statement regarding ticket prices is incorrect. Our Abbey tickets are sold at the same public admission prices set by the Centre des monuments nationaux, the official operator of Mont Saint-Michel Abbey: €13 during the low season and €16 during the high season. Whether you purchase your admission ticket from us in advance or buy it on site, the admission price is therefore the same.
Regarding our smartphone audio guide, it is also incorrect to state that it is only available in French. It is currently available in five languages, with additional languages planned. Our website also clearly states that this is a smartphone audio guide designed to be listened to on your own device.
It is important to understand that our audio guide is not intended to replace the Abbey’s on-site audio guide. They are two different and complementary products. Our €2 audio guide provides an introduction to the history of Mont Saint-Michel as a whole, from its geological formation through its historical development to the present day. It can be listened to before or during your visit, allowing visitors to arrive with a much better understanding of the site and its history.
We also clearly inform visitors on our website that a separate audio guide specifically dedicated to Mont Saint-Michel Abbey can be purchased on site. Contrary to your claim, that on-site Abbey audio guide is not cheaper than our €2 historical introduction.
We fully respect criticism when it is based on a genuine experience. However, in this case, several of the factual claims made in your review are simply incorrect, and we believe it is important to clarify them for future visitors.

Notre activité consiste à proposer aux visiteurs différentes expériences et services liés à leur venue au Mont-Saint-Michel, notamment des billets d’entrée pour l’abbaye et d’autres activités touristiques.
Nous comprenons parfaitement que vous puissiez considérer le coût global d’une visite au Mont-Saint-Michel comme trop élevé, mais il nous semble important de préciser que les montants que vous mentionnez concernant l’hôtel et le parking ne sont ni fixés ni perçus par notre société.
Nous regrettons donc que cette insatisfaction générale concernant votre séjour se traduise par une note d’une étoile attribuée à notre service, alors que les principaux éléments évoqués dans votre avis ne dépendent pas de nous.

Nous souhaitons toutefois apporter quelques précisions concernant les différents points évoqués.
Les navettes reliant le parking au Mont-Saint-Michel sont entièrement gratuites et circulent en moyenne toutes les 12 minutes. Ce service est mis à disposition des visiteurs indépendamment de Visit Mont Saint-Michel : nous n’en assurons ni l’exploitation ni l’organisation. Compte tenu de sa gratuité et de sa fréquence, qualifier cette offre d’insuffisante nous paraît donc assez sévère.
Concernant la restauration, les horaires de fermeture varient selon les établissements présents sur le Mont-Saint-Michel. Une fermeture à 18h ne peut donc pas être généralisée à l’ensemble de l’offre de restauration du village.
De la même manière, la gestion et la tarification du parking ne dépendent absolument pas de Visit Mont Saint-Michel. Le parking est exploité par Keolis et nous n’intervenons ni dans la fixation de ses tarifs ni dans son fonctionnement.
Enfin, concernant le trajet retour dans l’obscurité, une partie du parcours, notamment la passerelle, se situe dans un environnement naturel exceptionnel. Il est donc normal que l’éclairage y soit limité. L’absence d’un éclairage important ne signifie pas pour autant que le parcours soit dépourvu de sécurité : éclairage et sécurité sont deux sujets distincts.
Nous espérons néanmoins que les prestations relevant directement de Visit Mont Saint-Michel — notamment votre réservation, la réception et la récupération de vos billets ainsi que, le cas échéant, les visites, excursions ou services complémentaires réservés auprès de nous — se sont déroulées dans de bonnes conditions.

Troublesome toilettes
A wonderful and fascinating place. Only blemish was the awful toilets at the Visitor Centre. The stench of urine was overwhelming, despite cleaners in attendance. For a site otherwise so well managed and organised which draws millions of visitors a year, these facilities were inadequate and desperately need improving.

Not to be missed
We enjoyed our trip and walked to and. From the island. It is possible to take a free shuttle but the walk is pleasant on a nice day.
We booked an audio tour and that is highly recommended as there is almost no information in the Abbey itself. The tablet is easy to use and gives you extra information if you are interested.
In order to pick up the tablet you need to leave a piece of identification at the desk. I found this surprising as an overseas visitor. I don’t like to be parted from my ID when I am in a foreign country. I think there should be an option to put a hold on your credit card until the tablet is returned.
The streets themselves are quite busy and it is possible to buy a reasonably priced takeaway meal.
Be prepared for crowds of different cultures with different views of queueing and crowd etiquette and you’ll have a great time as well as amazing views.
We used the tourist information office and they were very helpful. You can buy. A paper map of the island there for 1 Euro and it is possible to speak to someone in English.

We completely agree regarding the walk to Mont Saint-Michel. For visitors who are able to walk and when the weather allows, we really recommend taking the footbridge rather than the free shuttle. Watching Mont Saint-Michel gradually get closer while walking through the open landscape and across the bay surroundings is a wonderful part of the experience in itself.
You are also right about the Abbey. There is relatively little information displayed inside, which is why the audiovisual tour with the augmented-reality tablet can add so much to the visit. It provides historical context, reconstructions and additional information that really help visitors understand what they are seeing.
Regarding the tablet, it is indeed necessary to leave an ID document or another valuable item while using it. The principle is simply to keep an item of value as a guarantee, which is returned immediately when the tablet is brought back. In France, this type of system is still relatively common and is sometimes preferred to placing a temporary hold on a credit card. We completely understand, however, that leaving an identification document can feel unusual or uncomfortable for an overseas visitor.
As you mentioned, Mont Saint-Michel can become very busy, particularly during peak periods. It is also a place that welcomes visitors from all over the world, with different habits and approaches to queuing and crowd etiquette. France has its own habits in this respect too, which can sometimes be surprising to visitors from other countries!
For food, takeaway options can indeed be a good and reasonably priced alternative. Visitors can also bring their own picnic and eat outside on one of the benches or green areas around Mont Saint-Michel, which can be particularly pleasant on a nice day.
Finally, the Tourist Information Office is very useful. You can purchase a paper map of Mont Saint-Michel there for €1, and the staff can assist visitors in several languages, including English.

Good customer service but could make it clearer kids go free at the Abbey
This site offers a helpful brief guide introducing the Mont but does not make it clear enough that children go for free at the Abbey. I therefore bought two tickets for my children but when at the Abbey they said I should not have paid I emailed this company and Hugo refunded us immediately. I do think this website should make it clear that under 18s go free but their customer service to sort this problem was excellent.

This information is incorrect. There is no official commercial website for Mont Saint-Michel as a whole.
We operate fully in compliance with applicable regulations and sell tickets for Mont Saint-Michel Abbey at the public admission price, with no additional booking fee added to the ticket itself.
It is indeed correct that visitors under 18, as well as European Union citizens and residents under 26, may be eligible for free admission to the Abbey upon presentation of valid proof of identity.
We therefore encourage visitors who qualify for free admission to make use of this entitlement.
Personnel compétent, vraiment ?....
Globalement déçu de cette visite car je suis tombé quatre fois (ce qui commence à ne plus être du hasard ou de la malchance) sur du personnel dit "de sécurité" complètement buté et complètement incapable de faire la moindre preuve de discernement. Je dirai, regrettable vraiment, voir nul si je me laissais aller!
Et puisque vous insistez en affirmant que : " le personnel de sécurité présent sur le site est totalement indépendant de nos services et que nous n’avons malheureusement aucune possibilité d’intervention sur cet aspect de votre visite", vous n'êtes certainement pas sans savoir que le client achète votre ticket pour une prestation globale. Si vous vouliez faire évoluer la chose dans le sens positif vous vous intéresseriez à la compétence de ses "agents de sécurité" (je mets entre guillemets car je ne peux faire que ça pour les qualifier). Je vous le répète, ils sont butés plus que de raison et incapable de discernement... Pour finir l'histoire, une jeune agente de sécurité a fait preuve d'autorité sur une de ses collègues (plus agée) et la situation a finalement pu se débloquer en toute simplicité !!!
Ce que je retiens, une fois de plus, et malheureusement, c'est qu'être honnête ne "paye" pas et que quand on donne un peu de pouvoir à des gens ayant le QI d'une chaise de camping, ça peut leur monter à la tête!

De notre côté, vous avez acheté vos billets d’entrée pour l’Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel au tarif public et avez pu y accéder de manière fluide et sécurisée via Tickets-Connect.com, ainsi qu’à vos différents accessoires : guide audio sur smartphone d’introduction à l’histoire du Mont-Saint-Michel, jeu du Mont-Saint-Michel, informations sur les marées et conditions météorologiques.
Nous espérons donc que cette partie de votre expérience, qui correspond directement aux services que nous proposons et maîtrisons, vous a donné satisfaction.

Après vérification, vous avez bien passé commande le 30 juillet 2026 à 14h55, heure de Paris, pour deux billets d’entrée à l’Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel pour la haute saison, valables du 1er avril au 30 septembre 2026, avec l’option guide audio sur smartphone d’introduction à l’histoire du Mont-Saint-Michel.
Pour accéder à votre commande, il vous suffisait de vous rendre sur tickets-connect.com, puis d’entrer votre numéro de commande ainsi que l’adresse e-mail utilisée lors de votre achat. Vous pouviez alors retirer directement vos deux billets ainsi que votre guide audio sur smartphone.
Il n’était donc normalement pas nécessaire de racheter des billets sur place, puisque l’ensemble des éléments de votre commande était bien disponible via Tickets Connect.
Nous sommes désolés pour la confusion rencontrée lors de votre visite.
