I didn't bring enough of my prescription abroad woth me , went on here but skeptical at first but with in half hour a doctor contacted me via whats app as I requested and I had a prescription made , I paid £35 for the consultation and then around 2.50 euro for medication which was good. Paid first. Received an appt time to accept or decline. Slight delay in appt time for clinic sent apologies and gave reassurances I was next in line. GP contact me via what's app and within 5 minutes prescription was sent to me.
GP Sergio Correa was very sincere and understanding and was pleasure to deal with.
A fantastic service when abroad and need quick medical treatment for minor things or reoccurring medical issues you may have.

Tl;dr this company gives out shortest possible prescriptions for chronic treatment to extract maximum money.

VirtualClinica unfortunately turns out to be (at least in part) organized medical malpractice to get money out of expats and tourists.

Came to them with a common chronic treatment prescription that needed to be recognized in Spain. The doctor missed our video session, but told me everything is fine because I get my prescription anyways, which he sent me by email with zero questions beyond looking at the reference letter.

A month later I was rejected at the pharmacy when I tried to renew the prescription. The pharmacist was surprised that the prescription turned out to only good for the minimal amount of 30 days because that is really unusual.

I told the doctor there must have been some mistake, he wrote me back that if I want renewal its no problem - just pay VirtualClinica to book another appointment, where again I can get 30 days max. I got seriously confused because nowhere in the world are redundant monthly meetings to renew permanent chronic prescriptions a requirement, and of course these sort of medicine are basically never prescribed for the minimal 30 day period because it takes longer than that for them to even work. The doctor treated this as the absolute norm and didn't even mention he gave me the minimal prescription.

The doctor then told me in writing that he had to do this because it's Spanish law. When I provided proof it absolutely isn't, he had nothing to say and no medical justification for the choice, just directed me to VirtualClinica customer service email.

There they eventually made it clear that this is not one corrupt doctor, but official company policy. After quite some pushing they fully admitted that they do have an official 30 day max prescription policy for many chronic treatments, and that it is self-imposed by choice and by no means required in any other sense. Though they appear aware that this is a highly uncommon policy for a Spanish clinic (as I checked to make sure), their customer service again failed to provide a single medical reason for their choice to force monthly paid renewal meetings, even though I asked several times for any feasible explanation.

I can only assume that VirtualClinica enjoys misleading foreigners who may not know better that into believing that in Spain, they have no choice but to treat their chronic prescriptions like a Netflix subscription, and pay the clinic to renew it every month.

This is a clear greedy breach of medical ethics and an apparent breach of Spanish law.

Was initially surprised by the high ranking they have on trustpilot - then they did everything they could to get my review removed on various technicalities, so now the relatively few one star reviews left standing are clearer.

Even if you don't need chronic treatment, would avoid booking a medical service that intentionally and methodically deceives many of its patients for profit.

Regarding the reply, first let me reiterate that the prescription was for a standard low dosage antidepressant with an expert letter showcasing this is ongoing chronic treatment.

When I initially recieved the prescription without the doctor attending the video meeting or asking me anything beyond the letter reference, I was surprised with how loose the prescription policy was because I would've expected some sort of check in. Then it turns out that VirtualClinica in parallel employs this restriction to give out these prescriptions for beyond the minimal 30 day period, requiring monthly meetings where I can only assume the same non-procedure would be followed for basically automatic paid renewal, and does this knowing this is not Spanish law but an unusual special policy, supposedly because it wants to be extra careful about it's patients safety.

Its astounding how their apparent care standards shift from extrmely loose to extremely rigid, in a way that just haapens to coincide with what earns them the most money for the least work.
