Garbage. Yes, I am upset but want to help others avoid my mistake.
I thought I would save a some money on tax software this year by using Ultimate Tax but that was a mistake. I should have checked this site for recent reviews before I bought a license to use the Ultimate Tax software.

This is the worst tax software and experience I have had. I will go back to my previous software. I tried to enter a very simple tax return with one document and it took me over an hour to figure out how to use it and enter the data, even after their onboarding training. You'll have to do a Google search for State municipal codes to enter into the software! No other tax software emphasizes the need for onboarding training. Tax software is usually intuitive and easy to figure out, not this one!

By the way, it took me about 10 minutes to enter the tax data on my prior tax software that I switched back to! I don't want to mention my previous tax software because this post may seem like I am promoting it over Ultimate Tax. I am just giving honest recent feedback.

Also, don't pay for it before you are able to try it for yourself, otherwise there is no refund! Not even if you have not filed a single tax return. Save your money and the hassle. I lost my money, don't make the same mistake unless you actually like this software with many manual steps compared to most others.

The customer service is okay. I probably would need them for every tax return.
So anyway, I am happy to pay more for my prior tax software and save time, prevent filing incorrect tax returns, and avoid accidental audit flags.

Great support and people....but that's where anything great about the Ultimate Tax product ends.

Horrible software. Confusing interface. You go 'round and 'round and 'round and bouncing back and forth between forms, looking for the ONE place it will allow you to enter the information (and it's not in the order the forms are listed).

So here I am, the beginning of tax season....and realizing I've not only wasted hundreds of dollars, but I need to start over with another tax software. Because UT is THAT BAD.

Yeah, here's an example. In the "Diagnostics" where it checks for errors, on a return with a filing status of Married Filing Separately, Diagnostics said "The spouse name, SSN, phone numbers and date of birth should only be entered if the filing status on the return is married filing joint. (398)"

I clicked on the error link(which takes you to where the error is), and lo and behold....under Filing Status and Exemptions -
"Married Filing Separately" asks for Spouse's first name, last name, and SSN.

Several times I entered information, and had the page in the navigation tree show as green with a check mark (meaning it was complete and correct), only to have the information (like a name from a W-2, the payer name from a W-2) just disappear and Diagnostics complain about it.

I wasted $600 on this. I'm not going to waste any more of my time on it.

The program was difficult to use and follow

Overall, I was very happy with the product and support during the 2020 tax filing season. Didn't hesitate to use again for current tax season. Great product, decent price (the software delivers), and excellent support.

I used pro systems for years with a regional firm and thought I would be limited with ultimate tax. I am very impressed with ultimate tax capabilities and the online support is OUTSTANDING. .

I have been using Ultimate Tax software since 2017 & again this year their staff delivered exceptional performance.

I work for TurboTax and I still use Ultimate Tax, so that's really saying something. Their customer service and assistance to get you comfortable with their program is second to none. It's my 2nd year using them and I'm one satisfied customer.

Each year the staff and sales have been very helpful in making sure I have the right software to handle the season. They take the time go over your needs and will follow up to make sure everything is going well. They are reasonable and work great for the solo office.

Ultimate Tax is an excellent company, indeed. We are very pleased with your corporation. Keep up the good work.

Very cost effective way for small clients to prepare returns

Ultimate Tax has fulfilled all my income tax needs. All forms for farms and small business have been there. The support service is absolutely great and very fast support. I have worked for the leading Tax Company for 40 yrs that used the very best tax programs and Ultimate tax is very comparable in use and performance. And at a price I can afford. Thank you Ultimate Tax.

I pretty much like the program. It's similar to features I've used in the past.

I've been using their program for 3 years and counting. They are very helpful when you have any problems or issues. You guys are awesome!!!
