Alot of space wasted
Huge place but alot of space wasted. There's alot to walking to do, resting areas almost everywhere. Given the wasted space having seating everywhere, they could have done with utilising that space by making the animal enclosures much bigger, especially the primates.
We went 10th July 2022, it was scorching hot. The zebras looked depressed, there was no greenery for them to eat, it was just dust in their enclosure, no water outside either. Same with the giraffes, even the rhino. They could have done with a mud bath for the rhino, it was just dry mud.
There was 1 tiger, which was laying next to dirty water which was just about deep enough to dip it's paws in, enclosure was a decent size but depressing for an animal to be alone.
The place only had 1 ice cream hut which is not enough.
Wet and Wild is really enjoyable for parents and children. It's a blessing in such hot temperature, though the smell of chlorine was very strong, the floor wasn't the cleanest. You could see it hasn't been maintained/cleaned thoroughly.
For a place that generates so much money, what they have to offer is very little.
Overall 2 stars, 1 of the stars was for wet and Wild.
Summer Sundown 2022 event
Summer Sundown 2022 event
I've bought tickets for this day hoping I get to see the zoo without having to stay in the harmful UV rays all day.
Sadly, not the case, when I've arrived there most cages were already closed and people were being ushered into the picnic area.
Animals I got to see? 3 goats, a few wild rabbits in the car park and 2 owls.
How much was I charged? 27£/person.
Queues at the bar: 1+ hours, I have spent 40 minutes in the queue only to give up and go home, I have never been more disappointed in an event.
If this was a 5-7£ ticket for the DJ and staff, then yeah, maybe it would have been acceptable, but having paid £54.00 + petrol for 30 minutes or grief is not acceptable and of course, refund or rebooking is just not twycross policy.
The only reason i'm not giving it 1-star is because the staff itself is lovely and deserve all the stars, this event isn't their fault, it's just bad management.

Staff cannot be faulted as each that we had dealings with were top notch, but…….
What a total waste of money.
Too many unoccupied enclosures with signs saying ‘we are doing maintenance’. Clearly not the case as overgrown & scruffy.
Toilets are unkept & not particularly clean, no toilet paper in more than one cubicle.
Mid summer & no refreshment kiosks open.
Such a disappointment but then compared to Berlin Zoo & The Highland wildlife centre Twycross doesn’t even make it to the scale.

Excellent zoo amazing animals staff are polite and helpful will definitely come again but will not use this place again The Grillshack BBQ as we paid £11.40 for 2 children's cheeseburgers one with just cheese and the other with onion and cheese the burgers were freezing, bread was soggy and onions wasn't cooked at all still raw, so wasted money I could of used on something else.

Out dated and disappointing luckily we only paid £40 entry for a family of four place is just run down toilets and facilities are horrible and need serious attention they have recently done the gruffalo trale but obviously this suits younger children mine are 11 and 9 several enclosures empty and look like they have been empty for a long time it's a real shame has the potential but is in need of some money pumping back into the business
So disappointing
So disappointing, £78 we was there 30 mins and seen 3 animals from a far. This zoo has so much potential but there was hardly any animals and all enclosures were empty if I had known this before I wouldn’t have bothered! Won’t be returning for a while
Dissappointing Visit
Given 2 stars because our Granddaughter loved the Meerkats. Dissappointing visit today. We got in eventually...queues! Everywhere seemed grubby, a lot of the enclosures were empty with notices saying maintenance being done. So very few animals to see. Shame because we wouldn't go again.
A bit disappointed on this visit
A bit disappointed on this visit. A lot of areas empty or 'having work done'. It felt like half the animals were missing and the whole place looked a bit scruffy.
Disappointing visit
I visited on 29/05/2022 and have to say I was truly shocked and disappointed. I have visited plenty of times and always had a brilliant visit but this last visit we hardly saw any animals alot of the enclosures were having maintenance.

Extremely dissapointed i have been to many zoos and twycross by far has to be ths worst i have ever sewn barely any animals and the ones
that are there are locked up and seem extremely depressed it was very sadening to see the animals like this the groundscwere unkept signage is really poor no talks you dont see any staff attending to the animals during our visit i xont think twycross could be catorgorised as a zoo its more a childrens play area the are so many unkept empty enclosures and the place looks tptally run down the animals deserve so much more they need to bs moved elsewhere so the can be happy and not locked in enclosures i found it quite upsetting the conditions need to seriously be looked at for the welfare of the animals i wouldnt of thought that a zoo coyld run under those conditions nowadays the staff are uninspiring from the animals to the staff it was all quite sad to see and experience if anyone from animal wefare sees this review please the animals deserve better i used to think dudley zoo was standard chester zoo is great edinburgh zoo is top class but sorry twycross the animals need to be relocated were they are loved and twycrosd needs a complete overhaul before reopening its very sad to see and experience what seemed like 1970s conditions
Extremely disappointed with our visit…
Extremely disappointed with our visit last Sunday! There’s barely any animals there and animals they say are there seem to be hiding somewhere?!
Most enclosures are closed and requiring maintenance. Our children were bored and asking where all the animals were! Not enough options for places to eat.
Total waste of £100. Very disappointing. Will not be returning again.

Today’s visit was a gift from daughter and partner/something we had looked forward to as we had to cancel previously due to covid restrictions. Sadly most of the animals were not in evidence. Lots of areas closed or unkempt. Some toilets closed. Very poor/will not visit again.

Myself and wife visited twycross today what a shambles most enclosures empty and untidy mice in most enclosures and how many children's play areas I thought the animals should be put first you could not go through some of animal inside areas as blocked of we visit lots of zoos all over the country and now class this zoo the worst don't bother to visit we won't be returning after today's experience zoo is looking tired and stupid fences and barriers everywhere but inside ay area and gift shop no restrictions come on twycross directors sort this place out the original founder molly would be ashamed

Visited the zoo today and was very disappointed there was barely any animals you pay a lot of money and don't get to see much my children were expecting to see lots of animals.in the enclosures but Toby greeted with no animals and a sign saying work being done won't be visiting again any time soon
Don't Bother!
Visited here yesterday and we were very disappointed. Most of the enclosures were closed. Not many animals at all, we would have been better with a trip to a local park! Very disappointing for the money we spent! The 3 kids were bored and kept asking where the animals were!
Go feed some ducks instead….
They need to give the 5 animals they actually have left to another zoo and just close. It’s appalling they are charging full price when they know they hardly have anything there. Those that they do have I suppose it was pretty nice to see albeit most still locked up with no inside viewing, could be to do with the high winds but again, why charge full price knowing about this. The only ones that did concern me a little were the elephants as they looked pretty depressed, so much so it took me back to that scene in dumbo when he was being separated from his mother. There’s an awful lot of ground to cover in some picturesque scenery but if I just wanted to see that I’d have gone to Wales. I did see a poster up offering an experience that you obviously pay god knows how much to be a zoo keeper for the day, which for here I assume would mean you go around checking the padlocks on all the abandoned and uninhabited enclosures and then sit around on your phone playing word search… never again will I waste my money on coming here.
Visited a few weeks ago
Visited a few weeks ago. Most enclosures empty. Expensive for what’s there, my 3 year old Son was bored after an hour, understandably so. Penguin enclosure water was green, the whole place just dirty, no staff about nothing going on. Had to pay extra for sofa play! It was busy shame they don’t use the money more wisely towards the well being and safety of the animals
Worst zoo
Went here yesterday with my son and 2 young granddaughters, we were absolutely gutted by the lack of animals, most enclosures have nothing in, we saw 3 species of monkeys, 2 giraffes, meerkat, 1 rhino, 1 baby leopard, zebras and some turtles, this place needs some serious tlc, it is a total waste of money.
not very good at all
not very good at all, puddles every where, very few animals to be seen in enclosures , toilets disgusting, waste of a day,
A disappointing day out
I booked tickets online for three adults (one of them had an adoption certificate so this came with free admission) and a two year old. Cost us £55! I had to wait while the system checked availability, so I assumed that this was because they were limiting numbers. How wrong was I! It was absolutely heaving with people, no masks being worn, no social distancing, very few sanitising stations. The entrance takes you through the area that has soft play and food outlets. So before we had even got inside the zoo, we had a two year old in meltdown because he couldn’t do soft play. Once inside the actual zoo it was extremely tired. It needs lots of sprucing up. The tiger enclosure area between the main fence and the fence in front was one mass of stinging nettles. Anyone in a wheelchair or younger children in pushchairs wouldn’t be able to see due to this overgrown area. Many enclosures were empty, and many animals were inside. We saw very few! The toilets were disgusting. The food was overpriced so take your own. We eventually gave up and took our little one to the soft play as he was so bored. This cost us another £5!! By this time we were desperate for a hot drink. After queuing for half an hour, I had very little change from £10 for a coffee and a tiny fruit shoot. The lady serving was wearing a mask, but kept lifting it up and down to speak to customers. I can honestly say that I won’t bother supporting this local attraction to us anymore and certainly wouldn’t recommend it. It’s dirty, overpriced and quite frankly a waste of time, whilst putting the public at risk with no Covid measures being enforced.
