Purchased Additional Pieces

I added a carry on bag for each my husband and me. We purchased a large and medium piece a couple years ago and love them- great quality and functionality. We are traveling more and needed to add carry on pieces. I love the platinum elite precision glide 21”.

Disappointed in TravelPro

Disappointed in TravelPro. We bought 4 Medium Maxlite in December 2024. We took two family trips with them. On our recent trip in December 2025 all four are no longer usable. Three are cracked or severely dented on the corners and one has a mangled corner at the bottom where the wheel mounts. It’s so bent the roller won’t touch the ground anymore. We also took an older, large American Tourister soft bag on the trip, which was heavily loaded. It came through the trip perfectly fine. Mind you I paid the same amount for a full set of American Tourister bags as I did one TravelPro.

Anyway, I reached out to TravelPro. They stopped making the bags we bought just one year ago, so it’s no longer supported. They offered me 15% new luggage! Ha!

Save your money. I’ve traveled over a million miles with inexpensive luggage and never had an issue. We finally splurged and the expensive luggage failed at a year.

Caveat emptor!

Great product but TERRIBLE customer service

12.31 update. Travelpro customer service email said they cannot cancel the order or stop the shipment.They Instructed me to contact FedEx to stop the shipment. I contacted FedEx who said only the shipper can stop the shipment. I let TravelPro know this and they responded with the exact same instruction for me to call FedEx! Once again, Travelpro is running me around in a circle and giving me no help whatsoever. I sent the information requested in this trust pilot inquiry. Let’s see if anything actually gets done to resolve the issue. This has been a big waste of my time right before. I’m leaving for a big trip. Unnecessary stress.

If there’s any chance you might have to cancel or return or any problem resolution, don’t buy from travelpro directly. Stick with Amazon or a trusted retailer!
While, I love travelpro suitcases been a loyal customer for 30 years, I absolutely will never buy from them directly again.

Purchased a suitcase for a trip based on a delivery date within three days. The next day received an email that delivery would be 9 days longer, which was well after my departure date. Immediately contacted via the online inquiry form to cancel as there is no other option besides calling during East Coast business hours which I missed. Repeated auto generated email responses state that the delivery date given at checkout is only an estimate and that orders ALWAYS take 2-3 days to process +5-7 days to ship. What??? Why give an estimate of 3 days when you know it’s going to take 8-11 days?

Then, they state it takes 3–4 days to process any customer inquiry. Additionally, because of the NYE holiday, it would take up to 3 more days to get to my request. Wait, six days to respond to a cancellation request?

Called the next day at 6 AM Pacific time to cancel and requested a refund. Customer service cannot process cancellations or refunds. What???

Requested a manager. No managers can be reached. They only repeat the same thing over and over. Email from the supposed supervisor afterwards just repeated the same thing, except to emphasize that a repeated inquiry would only put me to the back of the line. Gee, thanks a lot.

Impossible to resolve the issue before my trip. Had to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. That whole process took two minutes. And I got my refund from Chase Visa.

What a headache. Completely unnecessary. Will never purchase directly from Travelpro ever again and now my attitude towards the entire product has soured as well. How dumb to lose lifetime customers over incredible lack of the most basic surface request.

Deceptive warranty, unreasonable shipping costs

I purchased the platinum elite luggage from travelpro due to the lifetime warranty and good reviews online regarding the warranty. However when I tried to use the warranty, I was asked to pay $27 to have replacement wheels shipped, with no resolution offered for the other issue I raised about defective stitching.

My understanding was that the warranty covered shipping as well. Even if it didn’t, $27 is not a reasonable cost for shipping a set of wheels. That, and the wheels should not have suffered the damage they did in 1.5 years of light use.

Meanwhile I had an issue with the handle for my away luggage earlier this year and they shipped a new handle promptly without charge. I would not be purchasing again from travelpro going forward due to the deceptive warranty terms.

Overnight Shipping Scam: $117 for Nothing

I paid $117 overnight delivery and it arrived a week later from day of ordering (Ordered
Sat, Dec 20 and Arrived Dec 26th ).

Site advertised arrival by December 24th -- I was leaving the country on the 25th and had a broken luggage from a previous flight. It never arrived - and ended up arriving on the 26th after I already left the country.

I asked support for $117 in store credit but best they said they could do was a %15 discount on my purchase which only returned $68 - So I ended up paying $49 bucks in the end for shipping I didn't even need (cause I'm now out of the country and don't even have my new luggage)

I will be returning the luggage when I return home from my abroad trip as I don't support a business who wont make things right to the full extent.

Travelpro will not honor their warranty

I purchased 2 travelpro platinum elite suitcases because of the lifetime warranty. The first time I used the suitcase the handle jammed. I have spent hours communicating with travelpro re email (the call center insists that all problems be reported by email) and they refuse to honor the warranty. Each email I receive has false information about the warranty even when I have copied and pasted the warranty information from their own website. They are insisting that I must repair it myself. I have tried to escalate it to a supervisor with no luck. Now I am stuck with a brand new expensive suitcase with a jammed handle.
Travel pro did not contact me and even if they did, their solution for me to repair my own suitcase does not honor their warranty. Don't send me a handle for me to fix, you need to let me send my suitcase to a repair center, where YOU will fix the suitcase and as per your website, you will pay the shipping costs.

Rock-Solid, Lightweight, and Worth Every Dollar

I bought my wife a Travelpro Carry-On on a Woot sale several years ago, and it has been outstanding. When it came time to replace my own trusty carry-on, I didn’t hesitate, I ordered the Platinum® Elite Carry-On Hardside Spinner.

After six trips so far (one 2 stop hop to Mexico and five road trips with lots of bouncing in and out of Airbnbs), this bag has been flawless. It’s lightweight, extremely durable, and feels rock solid. The spinner wheels are smooth, the build quality is obvious, and it still looks great despite real world travel abuse.

This is luggage that’s clearly designed by people who actually travel. I’m impressed enough that my next purchase will be the matching checked bag. Highly recommended.

I purchased a Travelpro Platinum Elite…

I purchased a Travelpro Platinum Elite carry-on due to its “Trusted Companion Promise,” which stated that the coverage includes shipping costs for repairs. I filed a claim because of the ripped handles. To give credit to Travelpro, they offered me a replacement because the parts are not available. However, I need to pay for a shipping charge of $50. I don't think this aligns with the terms in the warranty. Ticket number is 214304205.

Gross Negligence in Customer Service

HORRIBLE horrible horrible experience with TravelPro customer service. In short, Travelpro sent me the wrong item. I asked them multiple times ~before~ they shipped the correct item to expedite the shipping OR change the address. No reply. They shipped it, and now it will be arriving during the holiday, and will likely be stolen if it's on my doorstep. In their email communciations, they are gaslighting me saying "I didn't confirm the shipping address" in which I asked multiple times to confirm the shipping time and address via email. I have screenshots documentating all of this and I keep getting automated responses.

Full timeline below:This entire issue began because Travelpro shipped me the wrong item. I submitted a support ticket the same day it was delivered (12/9). They requested additional information and photos, which I provided on 12/10, promptly and thoroughly. After that, communication stalled. I received no confirmation that the correct item I actually purchased — VersaPack®+ Carry-On Spinner – Black — was being shipped, no tracking number, and no explanation.

I explicitly requested expedited shipping on 12/10 because I would not be home starting 12/19. I repeated this request multiple times via email and again by phone. Despite flagging this issue at least three times, Travelpro failed to confirm the shipping method, failed to confirm the delivery address, and failed to respond to my emails with a real person response. All AI.

I eventually had to call customer service myself just to get them to initiate shipping of the item I had already paid for — which leads me to believe it would not have shipped at all if I hadn’t called. On that call, the representative processed the shipment without my consent, did not answer my direct question about delivery timing, and did not verify the shipping address, despite me saying I will not be at this address.

Even worse, there was no way to change the shipping address on the website, hence why I called customer service. As a result, the package is likely to be left outside my home for over two weeks, and likely to be stolen.

This entire ordeal shows that Travelpro prioritizes recovering inventory they shipped incorrectly over actually resolving customer issues. Their lack of communication, inability to correct their own mistake efficiently, and failure to offer basic customer service accommodations (like expedited shipping or address changes) is unacceptable — especially given the premium prices they charge.

For a company that markets itself as reputable and customer-focused, this experience was negligent, frustrating, and deeply disappointing.

Very poor customer service on missing item

I ordered 2 carry-on spinners and 1 tote bag. The tote bag didn't ship but Travel Pro showed it shipped and was delivered.

I started with their AI assistant on their website which wasn't helpful at all. Then I contacted customer support explaining that I got both pkgs/tracking #'s that they showed shipped and also checked inside both carry-ons to see if the tote was nested inside.

They obviously didn't even read what I sent and only sent a worthless canned response that said to check side doors etc for the missing pkgs (which I stated I had received) and to check the baggage for nesting (which I had stated I had already done).

Also on 12/05, I received an automated shipping confirmation that my order had shipped and to expect delivery on 12/11, but the delivery was on 12/05 which was the day of email that said it had just shipped.

Luggage that we received seems great, but they obviously have admin issues and extremely poor customer service. I had to file a dispute with my credit card issuer to resolve the issue.

Edit to address Travelpro's response: I already gave you a chance to address the issue going back and forth for 2 days with your customer service, and got no where beyond receiving canned responses that didn't even apply to my situation. So I filed a credit card dispute & was refunded by Amex within minutes, and I considered the matter resolved.

Travelpro later emailed that they could do nothing to resolve the issue until I cancelled the chargeback. Why in the heck would any sane person do that? I responded that I would only cancel the chargeback after I had rec'd the missing tote.

I would actually still prefer to receive the tote that matches the carry-on spinner instead of the Amex refund, but no way am I going to cancel the chargeback first and then trust Travelpro to correct the issue when Travelpro has done absolutely nothing to resolve the issue to date.

We purchased 3 pieces of the Maxlite…

We purchased 3 pieces of the Maxlite Hardside series and used 5-6 times in 3 years. When reaching out for parts replacement they stated they no longer have parts to replace the model that was only 3 years old and offered a humbling 25% discount to purchase new luggage. Travelpro has lost us as a customer due to cost of this product with the lack of durability and replacement parts, along with the poor solutions offered.

In regards to the response from the company below they have not reached out to discuss a solution.

A headache from the start

I ordered almost $700 worth of luggage. It took weeks and several emails to get the order out of fulfillment and to ship(An actual customer service line is nonexistent). During that time, I received canned A.I.-generated customer service responses stating that the order would ship on a date that was eleven days in the past. I finally received my order yesterday. Despite ordering two identical bags, I received two different bags - one of which has a defective zipper. Customer service needs a photo of an interior tag that does not exist to process a replacement. I have little hope of ever getting this resolved, as I can't imagine how long it will take to 1) get through to them, 2) receive what I need to return the defective bag, and 3) receive a replacement of the bag I actually ordered. Buyer beware.

Update: 12/16 I received an email response to my original customer service product complaint. Despite my submission of all requested photos and a description that the zipper is dysfunctional, TravelPro has reached the conclusion that my product is fully functional. Unbelievable.

Horrible Product Quality and Customer Experience

Ordered the Platinum Elite Hardside suitcase set (carry on and large check-in), and when they arrived they both had large cracks on the exterior which exposed the fact that the hard shell on these is very cheap, and clearly not durable as it didn't even make it through the initial shipping process without cracking. When I tried to leave a review on their website under the product, the website wouldn't let me. Makes sense why they only have good reviews displayed.

Extremely disappointed and will never be ordering from TravelPro again. Horrible product and horrible customer service/transparency.

Purchased a high end "Crew" line…

Purchased a high end "Crew" line carry-on. The zipper pull broke off the zipper - as it's designed to do to protect the zipper system. No zipper damage, just need a pull. I asked for a zipper pull - instead sent me a coupon code to purchase a new piece of luggage for 25% off. Talk about gaslighting. I always thought I was protected by Travel Pro if I purchased high end luggage from them, but instead I get a dystopian, disinterested email that was probably generated by AI. I'm going to purchase Briggs and Riley from now on - fantastic lifetime warranty, no gaslighting, no cheap chinese craftsmanship. You lost me over a zipper pull - pathetic.

Update 12/10/25: Travelpro reached out for information from me through Trustpilot. I sent my ticket number and my phone number. They can identify my interaction with their cs rep.

Update 12/12/25: No response from travelpro. This experience reflects what a hassle it is to have a reasonable engagement with this company. For the extra cost for Briggs and Riley you buy peace of mind knowing they have your back for the lifetime of the product. If you want to by a throwaway piece of luggage travelpro might be the best option.

Update 12/15/25: No response from travelpro. Their responses to customer reviews on Trustpilot seem disingenuous.

The worst customer service EVER

Initially this was the worst customer service experience EVER! The package was delivered to the wrong address. I provided photos to document that the delivery photo did not match any area at my home. I checked with neighbors etc and stated this. Travelpro customer service rep did not speak or understand much English; kept reading from a script; refused to let me talk with a supervisor. I filed a claim. The response was that the package was delivered and that they're not responsible for any mistakes made by the delivery service. They said I can reorder the suitcase, which is very expensive, and get free shipping. Really?! UPDATING - one day after I posted this review I got another email from Travelpro. They are sending a replacement suitcase at no charge. I can't be sure if reading about my initial experience made them respond differently, but I very much appreciate that they've done the right thing.

Had the TRAVELPRO WALKABOUT 25” for…

Had the TRAVELPRO WALKABOUT 25” for barely 5 years and 3 of the 4 wheels are broken and inoperable. Plus 1 zipper completely broken and 2 pulls have broken off. Any reasonable company would replace this under warranty. After 12 separate emails showing damage, issues and type of luggage it was & 3 phone calls NO not under warranty. Will NOT be ever buying from them again!

AWAY carry on zipper had a broken zipper and called left message and called me back and requested 2 pics and sent out NEW BAG that week! AWAY IS THE WAY.

TRAVELPRO is junk

Super easy return/refund

TravelPro luggage has been my choice for many years. I think that quality is better than the cheap stuff that all the stores carry.

I recently ordered a new bag, but picked the wrong size. No problem return and refund!

This used to be such a great company to deal with. Not anymore. Now cheap Chinese garbage, customer service in some non English speaking country and one of the worst shopping websites.
