They will steal your rewards.
I have been recycling with this company for 3 years. They previously give you dollars to spend at specific online retailer or buy gift cards. They converted to points and took my $152 in credits and reduced it to a $21 value. Don’t trust them to honor your rewards. Trashie lost my trust in them and they didn’t honor the rewards that I signed up and paid for. I have been in contact with customer service and they said thank you for your feedback. Sorry you’re disappointed. No offer to help resolve this. They just lost a faithful customer.

So far not worth it
So far I purchased unlimited . As others here had said it’s been a total hassle and super hard to find out when they will ship, also I mainly wanted to do this BECAUSE of the option and incentive w getting gift cards since I have a ton of stuff it’ll help me get rid of items quicker if I can get a chewy , petco amazon etc gift cards for the items since I do have a hard time letting things go. I usually donate locally but the gift card incentive tbh was main reason I said ok win win and signed up for unlimited. So far I’ve been told I have to re order the bags each day bc u can order six bags per day which is ridiculous tbh I paid for unlimited. No tracking which is def super easy to give anyone on the planet an eta of when the mail will arrive when u send it , and still no bags. If it’s how I’ve seen others say with once rewards come all gift cards are gone and u gave discounts for weird sites etc I’ll def be updating bc I’ll wind up just dropping off to goodwill or trashing myself for free and less stress: this process seemed like oh this is awesome and I’m more annoyed by the day and don’t have a single bag yet. So far huge waste of time and money and if that rewards program isn’t up to par that’s some seriously misleading bs . Will update .

Hi Heather, thank you for sharing this feedback. We totally understand how important both timing and rewards are, especially when you’re trying to tackle a big cleanout. Take Back Bags are shipped in simple mailers without tracking, which can make delivery timing feel unclear, but they typically arrive within 10–14 business days. That said, waiting without visibility isn’t the experience we want for you, and we're actively working to start providing tracking for our customers.
With Trashie Unlimited, you don’t need to place large numbers of orders at once. We may check in on higher order volumes just to make sure bags are being used for a single household and to avoid unnecessary shipments, but you can absolutely continue ordering as you use them.
On rewards, we recently updated TrashieCash to make it clearer and easier to use, and we still offer gift cards, along with other reward options, on our site. The program is meant to reward recycling, but it’s not designed to be a 1:1 return on what you spend.
If you’re open to it, we’d really love the chance to make this right and help get things on track for you. Please reach out to us at help@trashie.io so we can take a closer look at your order and help however we can!
I've spend over $250 at Trashie to send…
I've spend over $250 at Trashie to send in my items with the promise that I'll have trashie cash to be able to spend as gift cards. But they've taken away all of their giftcard rewards in exchange for 10% off or $10 off coupons. My balance after they redid their point system shows I only have $23 dollars in trashie cash. Where did my other $230 dollars i spent go to?! It's a scam. Im so disappointed in this company. I though it was part of then new Gen Z wave of caring for worldwide sustainability but it was just another cash grab by greedy Americans.

To clarify, the amount spent on Take Back Bags isn’t the same as your TrashieCash balance. The bags are a paid recycling service, and TrashieCash is an added benefit you earn for participating, not a 1:1 return of what you spend.
We also want to reassure you that gift cards from many different amazing brands are still available on our website. You can view current options here: https://app.trashie.io/trashiecash-gift-cards. Reward types can rotate, so availability may change over time.
With the recent update, we moved from points to dollar-based TrashieCash to make rewards clearer and easier to understand. Existing balances were converted into this new system, which can make totals look different than before. However, the underlying value of your rewards didn’t change.
Excellent Customer Service
Due to an error on my part I was double billed for a transaction. I contacted Trashie and Kenneth not only resolved the matter but followed up with me to let know it was being handled and again when the credit was issued. It is so refreshing to be able work with an actual person in customer service vs some AI driven platform. Don’t get me wrong AI has a place for simple issues but there are times when a competent person is needed. Thanks Trashie….please recognize Kenneth’s excellent customer service.

Great customer service to help navigate the system
I have been using Trashie for a few years and I appreciate their customer service in particular - whenever the rules change (and that has happened often) I seem to be confused, but customer service always comes through and helps me out. I would say that it is an upcycle program, which I love, but I don't end up using the points very often, and the points seem not to have much value to me or my family. So, I am willing to pay for the service, as I think of it as a great way to ensure that products at the end of their lifecycle don't go into our town landfill.

I had been looking for a way to recycle clothes and textiles that were not good enough for Goodwill when I found Trashie. My world just feels happier knowing that stuff I no longer need can be upcycled/used to make other things, and not wind up in our landfills. I tell all my friends and a couple have also started using Trashie because it's such a great initiative and SO easy! Great website and Amazing customer service! I've compared Trashie to a few other similar services and Trashie's cost and process are far better. I would give Trashie 10 stars if I could!!!

Convenient Clean Out
I love the product and I get my bags with the unlimited membership. I get points for sending my items and get points when I do my online shopping too. I just put my items in my bag, put them in my building's UPS drop off station and I'm done. I feel good and get rewards.

Cash out is a scam
I used to have hundreds of dollars in “trashie cash” I was saving up because everything on the for days website was EXPENSIVE. Now, with the new program- those hundreds of dollars are only worth pennies. This program is the biggest scam. You shouldn’t have to pay money to give your clothes away.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. The original Trashie Cash, previously Closet Cash, was tied specifically to the For Days retail store. When For Days transitioned away from selling its own clothing and into a marketplace model, that store-credit structure changed with it.
Today, the Take Back Bag program operates through Trashie.io, where participants earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards and partner offers instead of clothing credit. These changes were communicated to customers ahead of time as the program evolved.
The cost of each Take Back Bag helps cover return shipping, sorting, and the responsible processing of textiles, including distributing usable items to charity partners. Points are provided as a benefit of participation and are not intended to reimburse the cost of the bag.
To be clear, calling this a scam is not accurate. Reward values and redemption requirements are shown before redemption, and our Terms and Conditions note that the rewards program may change over time.
We’re sorry the updates weren’t what you expected, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
Genuinely love
I have used them for years, recommended them to friends/family, and happily signed up for their unlimited service when it launched, but I actually don’t recall needing to contact them for support before this week. I’ve had to be in contact with support at so many companies lately due to bad products (and that wasn’t even the reason here!) and am constantly amazed by how insanely low the bar has become for customer service, which had me that much more impressed with the support I received here. The answer from Rin was almost immediate, friendly, knowledgeable, and completely helpful… truly shocking nowadays, in the absolute best way. So now not only do I know I love and appreciate what they do but I love their customer support too! Thank you for making it so easy (and pleasant) to do something good for the environment.

Shipping label
I had an issue with producing a shipping label to send back my Trashie Bag. I emailed customer support, got an immediate response and they solved the problem.

Order problems resolved quickly!
I ordered a Trashie bag, and, when I hadn't received it after 3 weeks, I contacted their customer service via their website. They responded within a hour, and resolved the issue within another hour.
