Installers not electrically or structurally competent. No effort made to rectify any issues despite multiple attempts to get them to fix issues.
Registering complaints with both trade bodies over the safety and non compliance with regulation of the electrical installation and the damage to the roof structure.

A Great Opportunity
From start to finish I felt confident in the company and product knowing that it was endorsed by my local council. There was no pressure to have anything that I didn’t want. Transparency was good throughout the whole procedure from first contact to fitting the system. The value was very good too even with a storage battery. I’m producing so much electricity that I’m feeding quite a lot to the national grid so making money as well as saving it.

Was signed up to British Gas but then…
Was signed up to British Gas but then had zero communication or onboarding with them. No statements, T and Cs, nothing beyond money being taken every month. Seems like they are signing people up and nothing is followed through with the provider.

TWBC saved me money!
Tunbridge Wells BC sent me an email about the chance to install solar/battery/car charger. One enquiry resulted in two visits from South East Solar, and established my home was appropriate for 10 PV panels, 12 Kwh battery and a 7 Kwh car charger in the garage. Cost just over £10/- (nil VAT!) and forecast a 6.5 year pay back.
Amazingly swift installation delivered a full working system from 2nd March 2026, including the scaffolding. Really pleased with the politeness, tidy installation, performance and subsequent back up from SES.
Already using Octopus Energy for both gas and electricity (c. 7/- annual Kwh consumption), it was very simple to change to their "Intelligent Go" and now it costs me just £4 to charge my electric car at 6.5p/Kwh between the hours of 11.30pm and 5.30am!
My account with Octopus shows, since installation, 95% of electricity consumed is either self generated or bought at the 6.5p overnight rate. OK , the sun won't shine nearly as much in the Winter months but it will be fascinated to see the first full year outcome!

Excellent Solar System
Clean and tidy installers. Survey got the number of possible panels wrong but that was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things. Discussion about system size and cable route was good with all team members (before and after install day). Would have liked if the possibility of a larger inverter to allow for future expansion was suggested, as it was it seemed like I thought of the idea. Fox ESS system (including app) is excellent although it takes time to work out why it does what it does, it is not always obvious. My score shows I am overall delighted with everyone. Thanks.
