Vast increase in fence paint price
On 6h August 2024, I tried to purchased 9lt of dark oak Fortress fence paint for £9.99 from Screwfix Saxilby, which had recently opened. The price was not an offer price. The staff were polite and pleasant. The above colour was not in stock, but they referred me to their nearest store, which proved successful. I purchased the same product today at an eye-watering increase to £14.99! How can they justify this vast increase almost a month? P.S. This is the best fence paint I have ever used in over 30 years!

I am not a plumber, but when I decided to do a plumbing job and buy parts, I was extremely impressed by the customer service at Screwfix Shrewsbury - Longden Rd. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
Super friendly and helpful staff
I grew up with the 'yes mate, what do you want?' (delivered with a disinterested scowl) school of customer service when dealing with the trades and this was what I expected. I got the opposite. The staff in Malvern couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and polite.

This item was billed as new, however, when the box was opened it was immediately apparent that it was a used and previously returned item. Due to this I cannot rate the product and can only rate Screwfix in light of this. The Screwfix online order and delivery to store service clearly has some issues, be wary.

Phoned up Screwfix to order some cat6 cable. The phone call was made before the 4 pm. Only by five minutes but the person who answered the phone said that if I ordered the cable will be ready to pick up next day at noon.
He did spend a lot of time asking me some questions that did not make sense, but I answered them, because I was desperate for the cable. It was after four when the call ended but at no point did he say were past four now we can't deliver tomorrow. Had he done so I would have said forget it and I would have given Amazon a try.
Next day I went to the store and the staff said that the order was put in past four, so it won't come until tomorrow. They offered to refund me but I thought I had no choice but to wait until tomorrow. I left the building got in my car and drove off just down the road there was a Toolstation. I had nothing to lose, so I went in and asked if they had cat6 cable. And to my joy they did. I bought it immediately, then went back to Screwfix for a refund. This time the staff member said he could not refund the item until the item comes in the next day. I asked the staff member if I need to come back to the store or will it be done automatically. He said it will be done automatically. I asked him if he would email me when the refund occurred. He said yes.
The next day, I had a text to say the cable had come, but no email to say the refund had happened. After trying to find the Ludlow branch on their website. I gave up and had to call the head office again. The person who answered the phone said no request had been made, but she had now refunded the money to my account. I said I would check and I would phone back if the money was not there. Obviously the money had not been transferred to my account, but when I phoned back they had blocked my phone number. So I used my mobile and when I contacted them again, then they admitted that the refund would take up to four days to arrive in my account.
Five years ago I would have given Screwfix five stars. Their customer service was excellent. I regularly used to direct my friends to Screwfix when they wanted something. But in the last few years it has gone down to abysmal.
In future I will only use Screwfix as an absolute last resort. The staff at Toolstation was so much more helpful, and they actually have stuff in stock.
Useless pointless annoyance
Just this ongoing issue with Screwfix for online purchases.haing ordered on line and being advised my order is ready, I'm assailed on arrival to put the full over long order number into a terminal before I can collect my order. I'm a regular customer, but will now always use Toolstation who do not have this palaver, and can provide a cheery efficient service without fuss. I won't be back as long as this system is in place.

Before buying an item I read the 5 star and 1 star reviews. Recently I bought a terrible lawnmower and gave it a terrible review. 1 star Screwfix refused to publish my review so I am not sure how much to trust screwfix reviews in the future

Purchased concrete screws and sds drill to suit.Girl sold me the wrong size drill.Didnt take the drill back as I had used it.Was told bring the drill back for a refund.All the way back for £3 odd refund,could they not just give me correct drill bit.After talking to his manager they gave me another drill after I paid 13 pence difference,probably cost more in petrol.

Faulty Shower
I bought a Mira Sport shower at the Fraserburgh branch to replace an old Mira shower which wasn't worth repairing due to age. It was needed urgently, but I ordered online and collected that day. So far, so good.
The plumber arrived to install it the next day. Unfortunately, the new shower was faulty and there was no power to the front panel. I phoned Screwfix. They claimed to have none in stock anywhere, and said I must phone Mira instead, to arrange for one of their engineers to make a warranty repair. The earliest appointment Mira could offer was 12 days away. I checked online, and found a Mira Sport shower available at another Screwfix branch in Inverurie, 27 miles away (this is a rural area - that's practically next door). I called Screwfix to see if they could arrange for me to get it. They couldn't possibly arrange to get it to my local branch (I hadn't actually asked them to do that), and initially said I must order it online (paying upfront) and would only get a refund for the faulty unit when it was returned. I couldn't afford that, and it made no sense for me to pay twice for the plumber to take out the first shower then return and install the replacement. However, on hearing that we have a disabled person in our household who could not use the bath and relied on the shower, the agent I was speaking to got permission from his manager to reserve the Inverurie shower for me to collect, issue a credit to cover the cost, and gave me a week to return the faulty unit to Fraserburgh. I took the 70 mile round trip to Inverurie that afternoon, and our wonderful plumber installed it the following morning.
The second agent I spoke to at Screwfix went out of his way to be helpful and find a work around for the system but I am very disappointed with the service and advice from the first agent I spoke to. They could easily have arranged for me to get the shower from Inverurie, but instead gave me wrong information by saying there were none at all in stock, anywhere. They didn't offer any alternative models, just referred to the manufacturer. I find this response very disappointing, and would think twice before buying from Screwfix again.
Incorrect invoices add to my account
I am getting invoices emailed to me each day for goods which I have not bought. I spoke to customer services and they were helpful but nothing they can do.
Imagine getting an email invoice on your account for goods you haven’t purchased. There is something wrong with their system and it looks like I am going to have to cancel my account if this goes on.
Always Great Service from Screwfix
I bought a Chainsaw on 1st March, 2023 from Eastville Close, Gloucester store. Unfortunately a couple of days ago the machine “cut out”, never to start again (even after refuelling with fresh Fuel and fitting a new Spark Plug). Rang Customer Services who were very helpful. As the Chainsaw in question had been discontinued, I was told to take the machine back to the Store of my choice and have a Refund. I ordered a replacement Chainsaw online, same Brand but obviously different model, and collected it this morning. At the same time I returned the broken down Chainsaw. I was told that as I had paid for the original Chainsaw by PayPal it might take up to 24 hours for the Refund to be processed. Much to my surprise the Refund had been processed within minutes. Can’t fault any of the Screwfix outlets I’ve ever dealt with.
Beware The App
Called in to purchase items . I was met by a member of staff who told me I could get 10% discount by uploading the App . This person then loaded the Screwfix App on my phone . I could not get discount because I did not have my account password with me I changed my PW but the system would not accept it .Josh came to my assistance and with a lot of perseverance sorted things out . Over and above all expectation!
I had a leak from an upstairs toilet that was causing a problem with the downstairs ceiling. I visited Screwfix on Jubilee Drive, Loughborough, LE11 5XS, for help sourcing a replacement for the defective part. It turned out to be a specialist part that would most likely be out of production or take months to source. No problem, a sales assistant called Peter instantly recognised the component parts and made me up a replacement. He even cut a few small lengths of copper pipe for me and showed me how to put it all together. Screwfix went over and above all expectations. What a service!
Ordered a raditator on Monday
Ordered a raditator on Monday. Delivery date confirmed for Wednesday. Wednesday comes. No delivery. I ring up. Delivery confirmed for Friday. Friday comes. No delivery. I ring up. Can't do anything because it's the weekend. The radiator eventually arrives the following Monday, so I have to ask the plumber to come back for an extra day - which will cost more than the radiator did in the first place.

Only refunded me 31 PENCE. For ptfe tape. And say I SHOULD have the £115.99 for a water heater, refunded to me on Monday. As they refunded me to a store credit, then have to refund from store credit to payment card. What an absolute joke of a company. And I have emailed sos@Screwfix . But no response. Avoid Screwfix.
What a great company to deal with
What a great company to deal with. Their customer services staff know their systems and exactly what they can do for their customers, no passing me from department to department. No quibble converting a credit I accepted on my account in error. In contrast to my earlier review today, the customer services team here is definitely 5 star and I'd especially like to thank the lady who helped me today. Sadly I didn't ask her name.

3. I put in 'brown plaster' (yes, have checked my spelling) given I have searched in the past for it. A trowel and other unrelated items appear before one plaster item.
I go to the Toolstation website. Easy to get in (and it remembered my nearest shop).
Brown plaster, lots of kinds of plaster, bag sizes etc.
Byebye Screwfix.
I want an easy life, not hassles and frustration to search for something.
I have always preferred Screwfix but no more.
